I wonder if the celery doesn’t absorb the coating and make it rehydrate?

I am just waiting for my new freeze dryer delivery and discovered your channel among others. I have to say that yours is my favourite channel with very useful recipes and info I can put to use right away. I have been bing watching your videos for the past week or two and love the content. As others have said, I think your channel deserves better exposure and I have been giving thumbs up on all the videos I watch to help on that score. Very sorry to hear that you are experiencing some family issues right now and hope that things turn around for you and your family soon. Thank you for all the great tips and tricks, I really appreciate the honest reviews of the recipes and the info on what you might do differently.

Dont forget to use coconut oil to thin the chocolate that way the chocolate is thinner and doesnt overwhelm the celery.

So the celery didn’t soften up?

Your video has me wondering if you put a good ranch dressing on top of the celery in the concave area before freeze drying would it be any good. Have you tried that yet? Maybe even mix some cheddar shreds into the ranch first. Hmmm I need to buy a freeze dryer so I can experiment.

This is such a cool idea, but yes I can see how it could be overly sweet.

Hi John, I love your videos and watch every one of them. I have purchased your books. Now, your opinion. How long do you think the celery and peanut butter sticks will last where you didn’t freeze dry the peanut butter flavored rounds? Thank you

I am not sure, I did some apple slices 2 weeks ago (see video) coated in caramel wafers. I have them in a ziplock bag on my counter and as I demonstrated in this video the apples are still crisp. I have 3 more coating videos to post one per week and I will be checking the apples in each video. I think that if the fruit or celery is completely coated with no pin holes the storage time would be more on the wafer side. Note I do not have a O2 or Desiccant in the ziplock bags on my counter.

What an amazing idea ~ especially before garden season. I could grow a lot more celery. Usually I grow 4 plants and it’s enough for fresh eating all season by trimming down.

    • @JohnInBibs

I think that would be nice but you would have to store differently i.e. mylar and O2 perhaps

Great idea! I wonder how that peanut butter would be coated around some freeze dried marshmallows. Or bananas, or maybe take a marshmallow, put a sliced banana on top then coat both with peanut butter. Hmmm
