In quebec Canada wood stoves were so popular you could smell burnt wood everywhere, the government had to pass a law saying all new stoves had to be better sealed and more efficient . The law change made a big difference.
there would be always some sellouts left. The society is corrupt to the bones, it's really hard to think of any new systems, of course neither communism or capitalism is working, but the World's state is just insane! At one of the Bilderberg meeting in 201X they've predicted(or actually created?) this chaos, of course noone believed at the time. And here we are...
Get rid of government all together and then whole world would work itself out. Sure there would be violence and criminals and theft if they get dealt with accordingly there will be less and less of those. Neighbors sharing property and communicating properly growing our own food and cattle and being sustainable it would all works itself out the weak would die off And the strong would reign. But one BIG problem would happen and that would be toxic waste polluting our water supply from human pee and poop and the fishery and animals population would all be extinct along with trees and fuel because there would be no regulation on that so in a sense we do need a government but one that doesnt work for their own greed.
I worked in an anarchist commune for three years. It was like "midsomer" or " lord of the flies", except you also every day had to listen to lots of talk of love and a better society. Amoungst the staff there was one serious suicide attempt, one serious stabbing threat, several nervous breakdowns, a psychotic breakdown requiring state custody, a financial collapse, several police visits, and a theft of £3,000. Eventually the "ruling council" all quit and the main funding body rescued the place and appointed a conventional professional project manager, with paid waged staff. Within forty five minutes of the reintroducing "capitalist patriarchal structures" the backbiting and the crying fits stopped and people just started working and looking relaxed. This convinced me that 95% of the worlds problems come from ordinary people themselves and that: averagely competent administered civic structures, are crucial to real wellbeing. These days I get really nervous when I hear people talk about government being the problem and the people being the answer. That's my story anyway. Maybe your experience is different. Tell us about it!
One thing i know is you want to insulate a room. When i was a teenager i had to live without electricity and gas in winter for over a month. I insulated my bedroom the walls with blankets as well as turned my bed into a tent bed helped a whole lot.
@@BrotherRain yes, even a single tent in the living room will give you and the kids a place to shed a few layers, stretch out, read a book, and sleep without shivering.
Let me tell you my experience with my parents. They were preppers. They bought all sorts of rice, flour, beans, cans of all sorts of food and sealed things in coffee size cans. Set it all in their pantry. Fast forward,20 years, they die within 6 months of each other. We as surviving children look at a huge pantry filled with expired foods. Can't give it to food banks, can't eat it because it is 20 years expired. Had to throw it out. Thousands of dollars went into the dumpster. I learned that if I am going to prep myself for when all hell breaks loose, I need to rotate my food supply.
Walgreens in the US had a policy of not stopping theft and people went in in broad view and loaded up then walked out. it got so out of hand they closed many stores. Telling people you won't do anything if they rob you is idiocracy.
We had a power cut for 3 days in my little UK town (pre-covid) and I was using cash to buy groceries at my local corner shop. I mentioned to the owner that I was glad the power was back on as cashless people would start to panic. She said many customers were panicking within 24 hours of the power cut because they bought food from day-to-day and had no cash to purchase food for the next day! It wouldn't take much for things to turn ugly.
People gotta empty their banks asap. Seeing Australians, Canadians being cut off. Now China. These are testing grounds and it’s gonna spread. We’re all In a world of hurt if we don’t stop these criminals lying about the things going on. They know what they’re doing. They’re on Klaus Schwabs payroll who runs the World Economic Forum. Today, the WEF & the UN came out & said “they don’t want any more private car ownership”. Yea, me you and anyone else EXCEPT them are not gonna even have cars. Everything schwab wants- he gets! He’s got the money to control our leaders. They’ve gotta go! NOW!
There was a power outage at the village where I used to live in Essex all the shops shut due to the computerised tills not working One shop stayed open due to a young girl who kept a record of sales with a pen and paper, you had to pay cash of course
All they have to do to destroy the entire world is shut off the power. Internet goes down and no one can withdraw cash from the banks. Chaos ensues within 72 hours of such an event. There's a reason they want to go digital with cash, and that's so they can control your every move. Say something negative about the government? No purchases for a few days. Do something they don't like? No purchases. It goes much deeper than this but this is the issue that concerns me most.
We do a "weekly shop" (Morrisons) so there's never any room left in our fridge for most of the week. Makes me laugh when watching UA-cam recipes and they say "Put in the fridge for 20 mins".. Like... HOW ?
I think its so smart for the supermarkets to ask for people to prepare in advance. In the United States, not even the government will tell people to prepare so too many people will have nothing. Too many people in the U.S. believe that nothing is going to happen simply because the government is silent on the issue.
Agree! Its scary! I listen to people here on youtube. No one on "news" is warning us. I listen to what they say on You Tube. I go to the stores to verify. IM am seeing it. Scary!!!
I am doing my best to prepare. My husband and his family, and some of my coworkers, think I am out of my mind...koo koo for cocoa puffs. Whenever I do something to prep, like saving fabric, buying water, even talk about prepping, he rolls his eyes and lectures me about the actual necessity of it all "because nothing is going to happen." Our priorities are clearly in very different places. I think he's in for a rude awakening, and it makes me really sad.
Electric blankets (including electric throw blankets) are a great way to keep warm in the winter. They warm you, instead of heating the whole room. Additionally, electric blankets use far less watts than a space heater. Keep up with they great content Lily 👌
We did not turn our heat on at all in the winter and I use an electric blanket all season. Really love them but also love my heated mattress pad on my bed. I also have a 12v electric blanket in case power goes out.
In addition to heating your home, not as a replacement for a heated home. When it drops to zero degrees F and stays there for 72 hours, with strong winds as well, an electric blanket is not going to cut it.
@@markbajek2541 yes people should worry about this. We live in a multi unit house so we do get indirect heat from the unit below and above us. The pipes will not freeze and the inside usually does not go below 50 farenheit even in frigid weather. We do also have a space heater for when it gets in the single digits.
I can tell you from being a US person, ignoring the robbers does nothing but embolden them. We are finding out the hard way that just letting them go just makes it worse.
Let's be honest. It's the blue cities and states that are not prosecuting laws already in place. San Francisco is now the sh*thole capital with new York, Detroit and Chicago. We don't have that problem in my state but that's probably because we have "stand your ground" laws that apply anywhere "you" are... And we don't have activist DAs and mayor's like those cities... Our's actually put people in jail.
@@Betsy.Ross76 So much for "united" states. This is what is bringing this country down, this us against them attitude. If part of this country has a problem, we all have that problem, not just to "smucks" unfortunate enough to be stuck there.
This is lawlessness allowing people to just steal from stores. Store owners will get out and we wont have any shops.A stable society functions on law and order and stability. God wants law and order. If people get away with being lawless, its right what somebody wrote they become emboldened. Lawlessness is a descent into darkness not light. It would be a shame to see this behaviour become habitual. The wide descrepencies between rich and poor and unfair distributions of wealth in societies have not helped this situstion.
The book of Revelation stated that "The World Will See Chaos Like It Had Never Seen Before" A Week's Wages Will only Be Enough For A Morsel Of Food". No one can stop this prophecy. The Something all can do is to get their souls righteous and be mentally, emotionally and spiritually prepared for this Spiritual Warfare which will effect the entire earth inhabitants. All who are in the position to prep and prepare should start and also be prepared what to do when what is stocked up runs out.
You're brilliant.....how about you provide the answer of why all this happening and explain a brilliant solution how all countries thousands of miles apart will all be healed of their corruption through your brilliant plan? Very serious...let's hear your answer
Klaus Schwab is the reason. Yuval Noah Harari is his aid. World Economic Forum is calling the shots and paying OUR “servants” to do their dirty work- which is mass-killing & taking of everything we have. Schwab said it himself. Even wrote a book. Even bragged about it. His dad worked for Hitler. Sounds like a serial killer huh?
@@locophoto6881 its pretty easy tbh. These countries are reliant on gas from Russia and right now these countries are funneling money and arms into killing as many Russians as possible. First time seeing your videos, live by a large lake in north, central Texas. We will survive if we live simply, have skills, and appreciate & be grateful for what we have. Turning 65 in August, and have always tried to live frugally, my family went camping for vacation. Was so fun, & learned lifelong skills. Went to Europe in 1976 when I was 18 for almost three months, backpacked w/ an "interrail" card on the trains. Completely changed my life, and I believe I am doing well now will learning what I did back then. Loved Austria, hiked way up in the mountains, and met lots of wonderful people who lived in "Alms", and were completely off the grid...woodstove, fresh spring water, made cheese & other dairy products. Canned food, grew their own & foraged for food. Learned about mushrooms & truffles, loved how the cows lived under the house during the winter...kept everybody warm & everything had a clean, earthy smell. I wanted to stay forever. Thanks for sharing such good information, you have new top fan in Texas.
Agreed but, what many people don't take into account is, that when things go bad, those who prepare and are self sufficient, will do well at first but eventually, the Have Nots, will seek out to take from those who have. Those who have will have to decide to protect those resources or relinquish those resources.
Good to see another Texan as prepared for what’s coming as possible…and yes most Texans are prepared to protect what they have, but so are Texans who will try and take. Comms with friendlies will be paramount.
There's a fast food chain in Ireland called Supermacs and there CEO Pat Mc Donagh has said in a an interview that regular citizens should start storing food for winter food shortages

I suggest looking to rural Japan for winter heat management. Wear padded clothes and use a heat blanket around the table instead of trying to heat the room to a comfortable level, especially if your dwelling isn’t energy efficient/insulated.
Great video, Lily. I would also like to point out that it is not too late to plant frost tolerant greens and veggies. As long as your veggies are 75% mature before the first frost, they will survive and remain healthy all winter. If you lose your food to spoilage during an extended blackout, you will have garden veggies to fall back on. I’m going to be planting cut and come again greens like collards, lettuce, Swiss chard, kale in the next few weeks to get ready for winter months. You can also plant root veggies like carrots, beets, garlic, turnips and harvest them as you need to use them. Stay safe & healthy, friends.
Stock up on candles, you can make 100 hour candles with a thin candle embedded in a solid fat in a pint jar. This can be placed under a ceramic pot on a couple bricks to help heat a room. A tent inside for sleeping will also keep you warm with a sleeping bag inside. We have stocked up on wood and have a wood stove. We live rurally and lose power many times a year. I will start canning a lot of meat that I just got to preserve it just in case we have long outages. Best wishes.
The last bit you said about encouraging others to be self-reliant so they won't be a burden on others is exactly correct. The more people who take even small steps to mitigate food, water and electricity issues is a very good thing.

This past winter I put plastic up on the window frames of all my north and east facing windows upstairs. I then taped it all around the edges on the window framing. I lived on the 3rd floor of an apartment that had 4 huge windows that made my studio very cold. Once I put the plastic up on my windows I didn't have any issues with heat.
2” of Foam insulation is the Magic number for insulation Heat loss & gain. After that btu transfer is minimal gain / loss. 2” gives biggest return for money. 3” down to 35 degrees F . 4” down to -10 degrees F.
If needed, seal them real tight with wood, or insulation boards. Do not forget the floor, if above open vented area. Heavy fabrics, carpet, drapes are also use full for covering exposed areas. Force yourself to use and stay in isolated areas, to keep limited heat in smaller space. Close doors on unused rooms, seal them tightly. I live in the Siberia of the USA, LOL!
Terra cotta pots do not add efficiency to candles. What they DO do, if provide a place to store a little extra heat so you can put your hands near it and feel the warmth. Otherwise, a a candle is a candle and produces exactly the same amount of heat. In actuality because you are storing some heat in the terra cotta, you are robbing some of the heat that would have been added to the room.
@@scotmcpherson That is why you leave a gap from the base so heat can escape but it does radiate heat from the pot as well. It’s not the most efficient but a last resort if you have nothing better. You’d have to set like 3 in a living room and 1 or 2 in each room. It’s a cheap method. Lol
The terracotta pot holds and radiates some of the heat at a point that is more useful and accessible for humans to benefit from it. Otherwise most of the heat will stay in the hot gases and gather at the ceiling where it does very little. That said, hand/foot warmers are far more effective and safer than candles and pots
Coconut oil is a great prep. Keeps very long time. Use for cooking or for skin care. I give to my horse for arthritis and even use it mixed with tea tree oil on wounds. Great stuff still cheap in Ohio.
I froze some coconut oil to help it last longer. That makes it another ice block for times when power is out and may help save other more perishable freezer items.
Costco has great prices on coconut oil! I wouldn't rely on frozen to keep foods cold since it has a low melting point. When it's liquefied in the cupboard I know we have officially reached summer! Lol
It comes as no surprise that grocers would be recommending that people should start prepping, now that food prices have nearly tripled in some cases. I recently looked at the price of a rack of spare ribs... $35.00?!? I used to work as a meat cutter; there's no way I'd pay that much for ribs!
It's crazy everywhere. I don't understand who's buying it to justify this price increase. I imagine they're throwing more than half of the meat out. My local grocery store is constantly losing power from thunderstorms and has to throw everything out.
Thrue. Only what can you afford in let's say 8 months. No meat anymore. Nothing made of grain........ What scares me is what will we be able to afford in 9 months. Stock up now. We can afford it now...... Maybe not in 9 months.
Oh, really?! And because of the Siege of Leningrad caused by german nazis the Soviets lived without food for several years, ate shoes and wallpaper. That's not to mention other damage. My two cents: start practicing making real meals with real prepping ingredients regularly. It would be very sad to find yourself stuck in apocalypse with a shelf full of cans that taste like dog food. I stopped stacking a certain brand of canned meatbals in time, when I found out they tasted like crap.
Always taste test your prep food. There are plent of prepper channels pleading with people NOT to buy those rat packs/MRE's that are in large tubs as they are crap. The manufacturers of them are hoping that people don't use them, but in the current times, people WILL be eating them.

Just another suggestion: Heated mattress pads / Electric blankets. They use a way less power than a portable heater and will keep you toasty warm at night while you let your home temp come down to 10C or so. If you've got a good battery backup system in place these can fight off the cold in an emergency. fwiw, apparently Russia cutting the flow to 20% is in retaliation for Germany not releasing the turbine gas compressor that Russia had sent to Canada for servicing, and that sanctions are preventing the maintenance to the other turbines on the line. During the lockdowns last year here in New England US , toilet paper and other staple goods were in short supply. We are not high earners, but over time we had built up a good supply of such items. You need to buy a hot water bottle. Place next to feet and you will stay very warm all night long. An electric blanket as well. It uses 10 percent of the electric cost of that heater.
Hi Lilly, here in Italy, just south of you, things are going differently. The government has allocated incentives for the installation of solar panels (50% of the cost). As far as the possibility of a critical blackout is concerned, almost all of us have a "meter" in the house that can be remotely controlled by the energy distributor. The maximum instantaneous consumption peak is 3 kw for the standard subscription. in the event, rather than leaving everyone to play with "survival", they can technically reduce, remotely, the maximum consumption available. Always keep in mind that there are people, hospitals etc. that depend on electricity, even at home, without supporting generators. A warehouse of resources, especially if they have an expiry date, is managed according to the FIFO method (the first to enter is the first to exit First In, First Out). They taught me this in school, I'm not argumentative. My year of birth is 1962.
Also as I wrote in another comment, if they really need 7 days for a black start in Germany then their power grid is awful. It only took us 2 days after the 2003 blackout, and it would have been less than 1 day if the south didn't have a ton of issues. Most of north and central Italy was back within 8-10 hours.
Wow! In N. America home water heaters are usually 3KW, clothes dryers are 3600W, and my car charger is 3800W. There's also a 1500W charger for the car, but most would have no way of staying under 3KW. There's no way to know if the water heater is on. Bravo to the Italian government on the solar panels! I put up 18 with no subsidy which feed the grid (cheap chinese plug-in grid ties) but which also feed a charge controller and batteries for backup power if the grid fails. Here at 53.5 N. however there's not much to be had from them in the cloudy, coldest winter months. (Even less if snow covers them.)
@@craigcarmichael5748 Indeed 3kw is terribly low, if you have a refrigerator, washing machine and hoven going all at once you'll get your power cut add to that that if we run out of gas you'd need electricity for heating and cooking and we are doomed, even years ago in high school my teacher would constantly say that it should at least be doubled, the problem is that even if that were to instantly happen you'd basically need to change at least the terminal parts of the power grid everywhere, every wall and every street, even if that happened where exactly would we take all that surplus energy from? I doubt that other countries would have much to sell us this winter, top that with natural gas plants running really low plus general mismanagement, in all likeliness we'll be among the ones that are hit worst
I wish you were our neighbor! You get it! Plus, you are friends with some awesome people, such as Canadian Prepper! You get high marks from me. Thank you for your channel.
I wouldn’t worry about the quality of air from the wood stoves, Lilly. The probl I foresee is people not having a clue how to LIGHT them! It is always a good thing to be prepared. Here in northern Norway electricity now is almost for free, just 0.02 euros a kw. But of courses prices soaring on foods like everywhere else. Water quality is very good on the tap, coming from a lake. Two wood burners and pleny of dry wood in the garage. Gasoline too, Justin Case 🙂 We have stocked up on some food and papers. A tip is coconut fat (healthy and last a long time) as well as raw honey.
@@kevinsedwards , so you mean cheap vs expensive is meaningless? If I pay 50 times less than someone in a different part of the country, how will that difference have "a heavy cost" as you say?
we lost power last winter for 10 days. Since we are in the country and on a well, we also lost our water....it was interesting experience (I did a video series on it) the first thing we did when we got our power back was to look for a larger woodstove, one we can cook on. So we replaced our small woodstove with a much larger on (infact we bought 2...now we have 2 older wood stoves and 2 new) we plan to barter with them should we need to in the future. Because we had such a big storm (taking down power poles and trees) that people were giving away wood for free just to get trees off their property now we have 5 cords of wood plus many more in the woods around our house. So we are set for heating....however the summer heat is a different issue, ugh.
@@dianaschoen4485 yes it is. I'm assuming you are in the US...if so you'll need a 'newer' woodstove (1990's or later) that meets the DEQ rules for pollution (they reburn the first wood burning's smoke so you get more bang for your buck and less pollution and more heat) you will need to put in an area that is reenforced for weight and heat...any reputable woodstove company can help you with the rules and the regs. They may try and get you to consider a pellet stove however we did not go with that for 2 HUGE reasons....1: they need power to work (that's how the pellets get into the stove by using electricity) and 2: who wants to buy pellets when wood is free? Good luck, you won't regret it...it's not a big deal, people are even putting tiny woodstoves in campers and vans!
@@OldSchoolPrepper There are a few power-free pellet stoves like the Liberator rocket stove. Also runs on smaller split and offcut wood. But that's the only UL listed one I know of, and they're small-scale made in the US so a bit pricy.

I agree about the zombies, this is also my biggest concern. My family and I would face tough times for sure, but we’ve been preparing for several years and are able to take care of ourselves, but when the masses strip the cities of everything edible they will spread out in every direction searching for more. The best way to prepare for this is to have many, many miles filled with armed locals protecting themselves and their food between you and the cities full of zombies.
I am in England too and like you I am fearful of people....the zombies going to go mad when it hits and they not prepared 66 million plus ~ feeling very concerned about what could come
I'm in Germany, and although we've got a brochure on how to be prepared for emergencies, basically nobody knows about it. I've had the different versions of it for the last 15 years, and even living in a small apartment in a big city, I'd be okay for a few weeks. But I'm fairly certain some people would starve if just the delivery services stopped working for a week, not to mention what would happen in a a blackout. And very safe to Store. 2) Heating - I forget when u mentioned u are in the city or country but if u are in the country get a Huge propane tank installed & use it for emergency Heat & Cooking. It can be hooked to Nat gas line in your house in a pinch. No modifications necessary for short time use. It will work for Gas Clothes dryer’s etc & Gas water heater. 3) FREE HEAT - Remember - any refrigeration units - freezer & refrigerator put off heat and can be moved into the house for FREE Heating in Winter time. 4) FREE - HEAT - Computers & T. Vs put off heat too. 5) Make boards with 2-3” insulation on them to Put in front of Windows in Winter. 6) Heat - FirePlace can be used too. ( if u have one ) 7) Heat - If u have Hot Water , You can circulate through a Radiator and have a fan blow through radiator for heat also.
We have a woodstove, which has its own catalytic converter. It also heats by radiate heat. So, no fans etc. Many of the new wood stoves burn much cleaner then the older ones do.
@@imonoke7903 funny how people think it does, trees soaked up co2... burniung it just releases it back... i dont get how that harms anything.. thank god my wood stove is older and not one with pollution controls..
Here in Texas we had a week of blackouts a couple of years back. Propane for us was key to heating and cooking. The main thing was keeping your dwelling warm enough so the water pipes didn’t freeze. We were successful keeping our house at 18 Celsius or 64 Fahrenheit which was comfortable and safe for the pipes. A lot of people lost their homes and apartments due to water damage.
Hi from Syracuse NY USA my friend and I am looking forward to your videos even 6 or 8 months ago or longer because of your survival camping skills my friend.
Fortunately in the southern UK we haven’t had a harsh winter for many years. I stopped using my central heating about five years back and have managed quite well with just a wood burner in the living room. Handy tip for those with freezers and fridges in unseated outhouses and garages, they actually require a certain ambient temperature to operate as they need that heat to turn the condensed refrigerant back into a gas so that it can be compressed prior to completing the cycle of rapid expansion and freezing through the thermostatic regulating valve. I have seen many people ditch perfectly functional units during a cold spell when it maybe only require a slight raise in the ambient temperature of the room that is required. One thing worth looking into is Reko Rings, a Scandinavian system where food producers connect directly with the consuming public in their local area. It may be too little too late but farms who wish to supply locally grown food directly to the public would benefit by diversifying their portfolio of produce. Also farms are going to be a target for hungry mobs so a core of local community security is essential.
Lilly, I would make a goal of 2 years of food storage. It takes at least that long to get "crops and critters" going. Also you may need to feed immediate neighbors so they become part of your ad hoc SHTF group that can help with labor and mutual defense, rather than theives who will murder you for your supplies. At least have that much in beans and rice. PARBOILED rice is the best to store, it has 80% of the nutrition of brown rice but if sealed in mylar bags with oxygen absorbers it can last 30 or more years just like white rice. You can use 1 gallon mylar bags with 300cc oxygen absorbers for a good use and barter size, and store your bags in large metal new trash cans with a tight lid. Tape with metalized air duct "heat tape" around the side handles and lid handles on the inside of the trash cans to close off any tiny gaps to tiny insects. The trash cans are the cheapest storage that is also totally rodent proof. A ladies "flat iron" also called a "hair straightener" is a great, cheap, and easy to use mylar bag sealing tool. Cut some of the bags up and make small ones to store bulk spices. Use a 50cc oxygen absorber for an 8 ounce (1/4 of or gallon bag), or smaller mylar bag used for the spices. Spices are good for both barter, and to fight food fatigue. Use a Sharpie marker to write on the outside of your mylar bags to label them. Bulk salt, pepper, honey, and sugar will be valuable for food preservation, flavor, and barter. I store raw local honey in 8 ounce mason jars for barter, you could even fill old cleaned out medicine bottles for small barter sizes of sugar, salt, and honey, so save those. Haben Sie gluck!
Talking about energy outages in Europe. People here got through inconveniences like that during the last war, with fewer options than we have now (like a huge variety of tinned foods, breakfast cereals, warmer clothes, better insulated buildings, batteries, solar powered radios, easy telephone comms, cars). And no SHTF groups. Let's not get carried away here, as I see some people doing. Preparing for the odd blackout in Winter is easy. And in times of minor crisis, people usually come together. Having said all that, i can't even put a UA-cam comment in the right place - this wasn't meant to be a reply to your comment, so take it easy on me please.
I was a firefighter here in Canada for 19 years and those small electric heaters are a huge fire hazard I've been to a lot of house fires caused by those heaters. If they are available I would look at solar powered heat pumps. A little tip for your pantry this is something I started when I started my pantry try to keep the same items in it's own place and cans stacked on top of each other. This makes it easier to take stock of you inventory when you are doing a grocery run and it's easier to keep your products rotated.
In the US a lot of them cause fires because people plus them into extension cords or power surge protectors that aren’t meant for the kind of power load. And that people don’t pay attention to what’s on or around them. We’ve always used some in the bathroom or other places but do so being very conscious of safety precautions.
I bet those little devices are not built to be used over a long period of time, I used such devices just to warm up a room for like 15-20 minutes, then switched them off and went to sleep.. I am sure after 30+ minutes of constant operation they might overheat and become some serious life threatening danger, I even noticed that after about 10 minutes the power cable it self became hot, I can just imagine what happens when you "forget" it switched on for several hours. it's sad that people need to rely on those devices, because of irresponsible and ego-driven actions of politicians
@@davideyt1242 I couldn't agree with you more. The hole situation is a mess that shouldn't be happening. You are right about those heaters they do over heat the cords and they melt and catch fire. I'd far sooner see people using wood but I'm in Canada and have 27 acres of wooded land it is easy for me to get fire wood not all people have the luxury.
Thanks for keeping us updated! My Wife and I have socked away a nice pantry of supplies. Thanks for all the tips on Solar Gens and things like that as well. Be safe!
As someone who heats primarily with wood in North America, you need about 100 times more wood than you have in your pantry to endure an entire winter comfortably. If properly stored, it will last indefinitely, so it's never a waste to store more than you need. I hope that you will stock up more while you can!
Just what I need... a reminder that my woodsheds aren't full! I've probably got enough for winter (4 cords?), but last winter was cold and I ran out of dry stuff. So did others. I told myself I would fill them both full this summer (5-1/2 cords?), but I have other things to do too. Like growing a garden more in earnest now expecting to see food shortages get serious. Along with usual other garden things, tons of potatoes - they grow like weeds here, the deer don't eat them, and so there's the calories for a year if there's nothing else! Have 4 chickens and am digging in grain seeds around the lawn, which do actually grow, for something for them to forage. (It's exciting to see wheat, rye, barley... millet... quinoa... actually grow and produce a crop, even if it's just a few plants! I'm getting a rototiller and hope to do more of a grain field next year.) But I worry about keeping the chickens fed if there's really nothing in the stores.
@@craigcarmichael5748corn grain feed is cheap. FERMENT IT- it increases nutritionly and you only need 1/2 as much. Put a few scoops in a bucket, cover a few inches with water, and sit 1-3 days (depending on warmth) till it gets a yeast-y smell (not a 💩 smell). Animals love it and it keeps them uber healthy! Good luck!
I live in the States and grew up in a poor household we always utilized our fire place. We all so used candles regularly not just for heat but for lighting to save on the electric bill. Living in a place with a high cost of living well before all this craziness has gone on my mom was single and worked 2 fulltime jobs at minimum wage to get by. One thing I always always always tell people is to please make the investment of 100 dollars and pick up 3 fire extinguishers. Make sure they are up to date it will be so very worth it especially in these harder times people will be using things like candles and fireplaces and electric heaters where they may not have in the past. Second and of course always have and always check the batteries in your smoke and carbon detectors they WILL save your life god forbid. Make sure to as well insulate your windows and doors. I know this all sounds like a lot but most hardware stores will sell moving blankets that are mainly wool not 100 percent but mostly. Those moving blankets are NOT meant to be window shades or used for insulation but in a pinch and on a budget it will work very well for keeping that cold air from getting in. God bless you lilly i love your videos( Mainly your archery ones) but all of them. I shoot a 20 pound and a 45 pound takedown recurve. Where I live we are not allowed to gun hunt only bow hunting. Many people use crossbows here but I prefer my recurve bows as its just what I like. I do travel to my grandfathers land 5 hours north to gun hunt but this year I fear with all these rising costs I will not be able to make the trips to him as often as I normally do in the winter. Sending prayers of protection and health wellness to everyone out there. Please everyone dont loose your humanity when the times get tough. Its getting very dangerous where I live with the crimes going from theft mostly to now more physical assaults as people become desperate and the justice system adopted this cashless bail system its just heart breaking to see my community loose there humanity. Keep faith keep hope God Bless everyone!
@End Times Are upon us not allowed to have wood stoves where I live and the fireplace came with the house not much I can do about that. But while things are still functioning I cannot afford a 5000 dollar code enforcement fine for installing a wood stove. By all means though feel free to come over with a wood stove install it and pay the fine for me when code enforcement does there rounds.
Good common sense video content. Commenting from Virginia, USA. My wife and I have been prepping seriously now for 7+ years. I never feel like we have enough stocked up. Items are still available here in the USA, but inflation is real!! Never thought I'd see a family pack of chicken breasts cost $18 or more. Just insane! I fear that we'll see the initial impact of all this in Europe first.
@@thedudegrowsfood284 Nice. If you can meats, it would be a way to preserve it so if we lose power, meats won't go bad. Rose Red Homestead teaches how to preserve food. God bless from the Midwest.
Good luck on "people not freaking out" when the day comes when TSHF. I live in Florida, a hurricane prone state in America. People WILL freak out no matter how much warning or preparation. As for the supermarket not resisting looters, what a laugh that is. Have you been watching how that strategy has been working for San Francisco, Chicago, Portland and other places in America? And yes, the real problem will be defending the supplies that you have in a prolonged period of supply chain delays and/or failures. People are "people". There will always be people who will not prepare and will come after your stuff---and they won't be shy about it. DO NOT offer to share your stuff with anyone. DO NOT tell anyone or brag about how "prepared" you are. All that does is invite unwanted "guests" to your home. Most European law abiding people don't have any means of defense e.g. firearms. That said, many of those people who will want to take your stuff in a crisis WILL have weapons. Criminals will always be armed. So good luck to those of you in Europe.
@Teutonic Nordwind Ha! You're so right. Funny, I recently retired at the ripe old age of 74. Next month I'm headed to eastern Europe for a couple months, including Ukraine.I have always kept up on current issues but I want to see for myself just what the hell is going on over there. Should be an interesting trip. I'd love to visit Lilly for a chat. Lilly, if you see this, I am not interested in seeing your home or your personal life. I simply like meeting interesting people. ))) As for when, not if, TSHF I'm going to be one of those guys who just sits back and watches the chaos. I've been a believer in "Austrian" economic theory for longer than most people reading this have been alive. And I finally believe that the "Great Reckoning" as Ludwig von Mises called it---is finally upon us. Lucky for me, I live in a state, and in particular a county, where "uninvited guests" can be dealt with forthrightly. Google "Grady Judd" 😎
.. and all our us citizens moving to Fl, etc... Hurricanes, along w all the other s*** happenning.. tbey will be clamoring to move back to northern states away from the coast.
What you're saying, I don't deny but this lady in Europe won't be attacked by anyone in the US, well, first of all people in the US are so dumbed down that they would not know the business end of a gun. hahahaha....sorry, it's early in the morning but I just can't find anyone my mental equal.....boo hoo......:) very frustrating...anyway, I guess you mean the people in Europe would attack her and others that brag. Have a great day or at least one that's tolerable.....XO.
@@jeankeats3200 Good morning:) I just finished a 5 mile walk so my brain isn't back to 100% either. No, Lilly doesn't have to worry about being attacked by someone from the states. And there are plenty of us who are quite familiar with firearms where I live here in FL. And no I don't think Lilly's problem is someone bragging about attacking her. Here is what I believe always happens in times of a severe crisis: There will be people who revert to "tribalism" for lack of a better term. People who are cold and/or starving, and are desperate will resort to WHATEVER IT TAKES to solve their "problem", e.g. starving, need for shelter, etc. They will use whatever weapon available to achieve their end. Firearms are not readily available in many parts of Europe, but knives are. Do you see where I'm going with this rant? :) Wise "preppers" don't brag about all the stuff they have and where they live. That said, wise preppers should plan how to defend what they have, OR have a plan to "bug out" to a second location.(Lilly has done so). And yes, there are a lot of fools on UA-cam. "Tolerable day? I hope so. It's already 80F(27C) and the RH is 85% here at 0630. 😎Thanks for your reply!
Hi Lilly..it is so good to know what is going on in your homeland. My only suggestion is to get a lot more wood for your woodstove. Maybe have some split wood from your cousin's place in the mountains. Also remember..in the times before 1850 people burned wood to keep warm...I myself would rather be warm than to worry about the air quality. Thank you so much again for sharing. Love from Philadelphia!!
Suggestion: buy powder mixes with water. Coffee, tea, lemonade, chocolate milk, protein drinks. My favorite are boba tea (uses water or milk), Thai tea. It's very compact, long shelf life, easy to stock.
oh the heck with it, when I find something on my list on the shelf at a decent price, I fill my cart. Here today, gone tomorrow. First come, first served. Once the panic buying sets in, you'll be glad you took advantage of the good times.
I feel so bad for you all in Europe. You are such a blessing to your continent especially but also you teach the whole world to be ready not scared. Much love from Ohio.
Lilly, Don't forget about heating pads and heating blankets. They use relatively low power compared to the 2000 Watt heaters. The average heating blanket uses about 70 watts. So it would be like using a 70 watt light bulb in terms of power consumption. They usually come with temperature controls and in a variety of colors and textures. -G
Instead of heating pads and electric blanks that will use more power, get a 1 or 2 litre bottle and put hot water into it(Not hot enough to melt the bottle), maybe cover it with a towel or something and use it in your bed for your feet. Can use it after for toilet in needed, or heat it up to make hot drink.
Also, you can buy hand warmers. They make bigger ones that I’ve seen people use like on their chest or back to keep their bodies warm in Alaska for kids when camping
If you’re not experienced with a wood stove you should definitely practice with it. Also you need to let your firewood dry out for like 3 months before you burn it. And you should only burn solid wood. Not pressure treated or plywood type products
No pine either. Too much oils and cause the chimney to quickly build up creosote. Chimney fire results. Wet wood also causes it. I use dry pine to just get the burn started.
Mary's Nest has some videos of what she learned during the power outage in Texas, US. Very informative. Unfortunately, people did die. Froze to death in their homes, which were not insulated for that kind of cold. I know pipes burst and flooded buildings. One lady had to carry her baby chicks in a sling on her chest to keep them alive using her body heat. People set up tents on their mattresses and draped blankets over them. When it dropped to 13 degrees F for days inside their homes, the water froze solid and they had to unfreeze it to have anything to drink. Provident prepper also has some good videos on this. Get your supplies now.
Our Stores in TX have Gneerators with Diesel tanks to support the preservation of food. Also the stores in the countryside which have not had bollards/vehicle barriers are all installing them at one time. I am sure their insurance company has done the analysis and insisted on this. Cheers!
Texas Hill Country here. My goal is to stay out of the stores if possible. We've been doing curbside pickup and online orders for several years now. When we do have to go in we make it quick.
From one side of the world to the other, we are all in for some hard timse. So let's do what we can to prepair . Watch out for our family and Neighbors. All the best and God bless from 🇨🇦. 👍
most of my family/neighbors voted to have their own throat cut and believe everything thats happened in the last few years is some sort of benevolent love fest so i will chose to let them suffer the fate they welcomed in thank you.
Honestly, I think the situation is only going to get worse globally. I've been working on my firecraft, and luckily have a lot of forested wood behind my house. Be prepared and stay safe
Im actually pretty happy how Denmark politicians and people have reacted. Yesterday everyone Wich heat price will rise, got 6000 kr from the state on their bank account. Our supermarkets work together to keep prices low on essential items, so all the luxury items will rice, but all the basic items they will keep down as long as possible, even tho it hits their own economy. I feel so lucky to live in a country where even the businesses actually care about the people and are able to work together in crisis situations. Denmark is like a big familiy of people and i really feel that during these situations. So it's not about politicians, it's about Wich....
I thought that you were in Germany. I'm from Austria, long ago. Now in USA. I love your videos because they are informative and, they remind me of all the Bushcraft we did as kids, living in the Santa Cruz mountains in CALIFORNIA. Thank you Lily. 😊
She has good survival skills, but seems woefully underprepared. Maybe I'm wrong. She could have a lot more than she's showing us. But from what we have seen, she has a couple of months at best? I feel like with a million subscribers, she could have a lot more than she does. I really hope I'm wrong and she has a lot more than just a few weeks of food, water and wood.
We've found kerosene to be another good alternative heating method. Our model has a large flat top that can be used to heat water, soup and a small pan for other food items. When not cooking, a pot of water is kept there to increase the humidity in the room - this moisture helps to retain heat and increase comfort level. And while we are all preparing - take time to demand development of renewable energy sources so that we are not held hostage by foreign countries or domestic suppliers alike.
Someone I knew threw a big peanut jar away that had never been open, dated 10 yrs. old from expired date. I took it to test if it was ok. Last bite as good as the first and taste very good. Prooved some things go way past date. Be careful with bag beans. They do get old and will not cook soft.
You should buy a small wood stove. You can take a pane of glass from a window and install it through there during a SHTF situation. Buy the stove and everything you’ll need to get it started just in case you need it.
If you are talking about glass in a wood stove it has to be able to withstand very high temperatures or it will break. Mine broke in my wood stove and I replaced with industrial heat strength glass🙂
One of the main reasons I started prepping seriously years ago was because of the world's dependency on the electrical grid. A small problem could quickly lead to complete breakdown. Had a small and ridiculously cheap homestead in Germany but got ill and returned to the UK as benefits were harder to obtain post Brexit. And Lidl no longer has a German range of food here and I miss my childhood favourites so salivating at your stocks!
Nice stock. Thanks for sharing. I mark our cans on top and bottom, without covering the printed date or info. Just in case the label gets wet or peels. I also try to buy cans with rolled seals only, that require a can opener. The pop top and twist on cans/jars I've discovered can leak easier.
Lilly, you don't have enough food! I would have those strong shelves full to the brim with cans - columns going back of vegetables arranged alphabetically, and then fruits likewise. Boxes of meat cans padded with newspaper. I heard it's best to put fruit and tomato products low and visible because of their acid can eat through the cans and leak... Good luck!
Wow Lilly you're channel has really grown. Over 1 million subscribers and you deserve it and more. Times are looking bad right now but things are going to change for the better. I love you videos and I hope you keep making them.
From an Australian perspective, the call to allow looters is mind-blowing after being fed so much anger via US news. Bravo! I think they should prepare care boxes that they can just hand out in case of emergencies with food, water and other emergency supplies. The supermarkets should basically become preppers! It will minimise looting access and also greatly improve their standing in the community. Stay safe! x
@@DL-ep5uk Maybe, maybe not. It's not something that gets tested very often and Europe is a diverse place. Of course a blackout doesn't mean no food or water though. Most people should be able to last a week at the bare minimum. I live in a flood area where I can be cut off from town for weeks so always keep a couple of months worth of food in the pantry. We've flooded five times just this year and not having to join the fight for goods is a real blessing. There are so many ways to cook food and keep warm without electricity without using too much thought. People need to learn to be resourceful again; just as this channel promotes and not depend on others all the time. Real problems lie with people who depend on food, water and electricity for their health. They really need support from their community and government.
This agenda is NOT for the people to survive. Klaus Schwabs agenda IS coming true. There will be WAY less people, either way it must be done. Any leaders that are part of the World Economic Forum MUST be gone from authority asap bc they’re working for Schwab & his agenda. By the way, his dad worked for Hitler. Same agendas- but a global scale at this point. He said we will have nothing & be happy. His advisor said there is no more free will, those days are OVER. UNDERSTAND- anything you can do now, will help later on. USA has def led the way on a lot of things- but too I’ve seen in Australia where they’ve “camped” perfectly healthy people. Canada is building camps. USA cdc states “green zones” will be built- for those unhealthy individuals, but it’s really for resistors of their new world order. It’s a mass-kill-off plan. IF we don’t stop it NOW, these murders will not stop themselves. They’re out of touch with reality. We NEED EVERYONE across the world to act like Sri Lanka! *** also- here in the USA, IF the gov wanted to claim a “food crisis” which is obvious going to happen, they can come in and take what food they deem necessity & they’re hiring a TON of extra fbi/undercover/cia. Wonder why they would ever do that?! Bc they need to control the masses. The majority, even the ones that voted for the thief in chief, they’ve turned on him- most of what you’ll see from the USA is 1000% a lie. Never believe any msm news. Use alt media like “g@b” or R U M B L E. No, yt don’t want you to know about those. But maybe you do- Yt, fb & Twitter won’t allow free speech. The crimes being committed are beyond comprehension. I never thought it would have been THIS deep of a swamp. But it’s across the entire globe. And as much as people wanna say “putin bad”- remember when they all attacked Mr.T? I have a feeling that Putin is the ONLY leader doing right by his people. Patrick Lancaster Channel is great for the truth there. It’s just so much to take in. I wish I could share names n links n patents. But yt won’t let me. I’ve tried so many ways. The Biden admin literally allowed in 2020 for those that burned down everything- they bailed them out of jail & let them go do it again. But they love “funnels”. And their way of getting “campaign monies” is a site called ActBlue. THIS site funneled $$$$ to the tune of $35million usd to JoeyBiden in 2020. Schumer got paid. Buttegige got $13million I believe. We got NOTHING/NOONE we “asked” for in 2020! It was very intentional bc that particular coof was PREPLANNED by at least a decade judging by the name of the patents with the IDENTICAL NAMING- So Mr.T stopped their plans they had & they had to do something about it to keep it on course. They’ve got to divide to conquer. So the best thing to do is to not allow it to occur- stop the hate & division where you can & take your life back. & CIVIL NON COMPLIANCE IS NECESSARY TO LET THEM KNOW

I lived in Sapporo, Japan for a couple of years. Average winter daytime temp was around 1c and nighttime around -11c. At the time electricity was crazy expensive. My 500 sqft apartment would cost about $300US/month to keep around 18c. Rather than pay the ransom electricity prices I wore a hoodie, fleece pajama pants, wool socks, and a fleece rob. I was never cold. For the bed, get an electric mattress cover. Much better than an electric blanket and you'll end up using less electricity.

If we could rid ourselves of politicians most of the worlds problems would go away
there would be always some sellouts left. The society is corrupt to the bones, it's really hard to think of any new systems, of course neither communism or capitalism is working, but the World's state is just insane! At one of the Bilderberg meeting in 201X they've predicted(or actually created?) this chaos, of course noone believed at the time. And here we are...
politicians in general are not the problem, it is the corrupt ones.
The best government is the least government.
If you have the room and are dealing with a lack of heat, a tent within a tent will insulate itself.
That is sad, but it was probably like insurance for them…a few thousand was their peace of mind…worth it.
That said, yes…rotate!
I like to feed my expired food to the pigs. If you don't have pigs, find somebody who does. It is a great way to use that food.

Too many people in the U.S. believe that nothing is going to happen simply because the government is silent on the issue.

Electric blankets (including electric throw blankets) are a great way to keep warm in the winter. They warm you, instead of heating the whole room. Additionally, electric blankets use far less watts than a space heater.

Space blankets do just as good, even better because they use no electricity!

Agreed but, what many people don't take into account is, that when things go bad, those who prepare and are self sufficient, will do well at first but eventually, the Have Nots, will seek out to take from those who have. Great video, Lily. I would also like to point out that it is not too late to plant frost tolerant greens and veggies. As long as your veggies are 75% mature before the first frost, they will survive and remain healthy all winter. You’d be surprised what nontoxic teacup candles and a couple of small terra cotta pots for each heating unit you make can help keep a house warm.
Lol
@@vmac8972 just light the candles and be done with it. The pots do NOTHING.
The terracotta pot holds and radiates some of the heat at a point that is more useful and accessible for humans to benefit from it. Otherwise most of the heat will stay in the hot gases and gather at the ceiling where it does very little. That said, hand/foot warmers are far more effective and safer than candles and pots

Gasoline too, Justin Case 🙂
We have stocked up on some food and papers. A tip is coconut fat (healthy and last a long time) as well as raw honey.
@@kevinsedwards , meaning?
Is it possible to install a wood burning stove in a new manufactured home?....
You can put in a powerless water pump. Super easy. Super cheap. Works great!!!! Only need to go down ~10-12 feet depending on where you’re at. Check it out so you’re not without again if you can
@@OldSchoolPrepper Thank you so very much for the great info!!!! I truly appreciate it!😊❤️
Thank you for the European updates, we are in the UK & the Government isn't advising us to do anything. So glad we had our multifuel stove fitted in June, that's heating & cooking taken care of. We used to live on an island, so we are used to power-cuts, stocking up & resilience, what worries me most is the hordes of consumer zombies who have never experienced even minor hardship.
(In case anyone is interested in the brochure, search for BBK and either Katastrophenalarm/Disasters Alarm/Catastrophes alarme to find it in German, English or French).

Hi Lilly,
Good video !
1) Cooking - Get a Barbecue - a Regular home barbecue that runs off Propane tanks.
That pretty much solves that problem.
Buy a Bunch of 5 Gallon Propane tanks ( Standard ) barbecue type. Fill & store them. They Store Forever !
( if u have one )
7) Heat - If u have Hot Water , You can circulate through a Radiator and have a fan blow through radiator for heat also.
Thank you for all your videos! Saying prayers for you and your family, and for the rest of us who are paying sharp attention to what's going on.
We have a woodstove, which has its own catalytic converter. It also heats by radiate heat. So, no fans etc. Many of the new wood stoves burn much cleaner then the older ones do.

Thank you for the update. May all y'all in Europe be able to stay safe and warm this Winter.
Ever consider a sogen battery bank and solar panels to run a Vornado heater?
Grills.

Hey Lilly
I started prepping in 2008. Knowing what the Governments around the world have been doing can't go on. Stay safe.
I started in 2008 too. As soon as I saw we put a communist in the White House, I knew it was over.
Hi from Syracuse NY USA my friend and I am looking forward to your videos even 6 or 8 months ago or longer because of your survival camping skills my friend.
Cuse in the house!!!
I always appreciate your videos, Lilly. I got stuff ready and a kicking butt. I'll pray for you folk in Austria and Europe. Best regards
Good ideas for repurposing medicine bottles.
Don't forget about learning what wild foods are edible!
These are a danger if used continuously at a higher power than 1500w . Even 1000 can be bad on continuous use
In the US a lot of them cause fires because people plus them into extension cords or power surge protectors that aren’t meant for the kind of power load. And that people don’t pay attention to what’s on or around them. We’ve always used some in the bathroom or other places but do so being very conscious of safety precautions.
*plug
Suggestion: buy powder mixes with water. Coffee, tea, lemonade, chocolate milk, protein drinks. My favorite are boba tea (uses water or milk), Thai tea. It's very compact, long shelf life, easy to stock.
I make my own tea from plants I forage. Nettle and mint is very nutritious, and foraging is free.
It might be a problem when hundreds of people are also foraging for the same thing in a SHTF situation, tho.

Instead of heating pads and electric blanks that will use more power, get a 1 or 2 litre bottle and put hot water into it(Not hot enough to melt the bottle), maybe cover it with a towel or something and use it in your bed for your feet.
But there is some other combustile materials as shitty books, bibles, newspapers, magasines, paper wraps.....
3 months still generally leaves “green” wood. Get older wood if you can. There is info you can find on a search about this.

We've found kerosene to be another good alternative heating method. Our model has a large flat top that can be used to heat water, soup and a small pan for other food items.
Use alt media like “g@b” or

& CIVIL NON COMPLIANCE IS NECESSARY TO LET THEM KNOW
In US retail over 30 years we always trained staff not to interfere with theft and robbery. Only specific specially trained staff were the exception.
@@karenz1634 Not worth dying for a bag full of beef. People die for "principles" all the time, as they are now in a certain part of the world. But sometimes you must decide what battles are worth fighting.
@@yellowbird5411 exactly 💯. Human life was always valued most. Also no need to risk serious injury over money or merchandise.
I was prepping and buying food at a incremental level. I also worked at a grocery store during covid. I made a point to buy a few flats of soup etc. But I also had food at home already. When all the pasta was gone. I had a restaurant size box already at home. I thought if everyone bought that way. I wonder if the supply chain disruptions would be less.
Those making those profits thanks you for freezing and not wanting to change society, as long as people behave like slaves, they will get treated as such, instead of rising up and getting rid of the Elite.
Smart. Thanks
