its strange that cassie seems to be empathetic in general and also feels kind of guilty when she hooks up with nate, but only before maddy finds out. after, cassie somehow feels very rightous in her decisions. when things get serious she lacks accountability, mainly bc people in her life werent hold accountable either. I think, even though deep down she has to know that her actions were wrong, she cant understand or accept the fact that it‘s her that has to apologize for falling in love, when her environment conditioned her to be that way in the first place. love to her is not a crime but a necessity.

I think Cassie lacks the strength to take accountability for her actions and when it comes down to it hates herself, she doesn’t love herself so she throws everything under the bus to be loved bc if someone else loves her then she can’t be unlovable, and I empathize but she needs therapy truly. She’s not a great person now and it’s not who she is, it’s how she hurts others bc she hates herself and has no respect for herself.
