The title is explained in the book. The Nazi regime, in countries it controlled and in those it intended to subvert, built up information on individuals in order to blackmail them into co-operation. This Greene called their ministry of fear.

Wonderful play. Fine actors and direction.
this is excellent :)
Set in London, during the Blitz, the story is set around Arthur Rowe, recently released from a psychiatric prison, who unwittingly becomes involved in espionage, after he attends a charity fête.
Blimey, I'd forgotten about a "Dollar" in sterling....
5s....
Classic radio 📻 😅
Not one of Greene's best but the production itself is quite good. Greene's story is contrived and overly complicated and Rowe has more lives than a cat.

The
Im going through Graham Greene books, the first book i read years back and watched the movie right after was the quiet american, it was a great movie and film, and then later brought the book our man in havana, and i really liked the book and film, the only book i didnt like and i brought was stamboul train which came out before agatha cristie book murder on the orient express both takes place in the orient express, i felt there was no spies in the book or intrigue, just drama that gets boring, so that was a bore. But i finished it, I did watch the human factor movie, but not read the book, i didnt like the movie that much but maybe the book is better i dont know, but i will read them all, maybe some wont peak my interest due to the material, so maybe those will be skipt, but overall had some books i liked, being a big spy genre lover. This is part of my operation No Time To Read, obviously i read those, but reading alot of books at the moment 17 to be exact simultaneosuly like college/ universities text books. Its basically listentin to audiobooks, so that it goes faster than reading. My Timestamp: 15:32, I will come back from where i left off.
14:09 The full prayer is as follows: "Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth, and a door about my lips, that I may not fall and my tongue destroy me." An excellent little plea!
Fabulous! Intrigue, great actors with clear voices - thank you!
That’s Graham Greene for you!
I thought I recognized Inspector Wexford as Rowe! 😊
This is one of the best BBC radio dramas
but with such a great writer as Graham Greene, it's a great help.
