Great video and great that you have a good bird dog. I’m in northeast Georgia. We have woodcock and some grouse in the northern part of the state. Looking forward to some bird hunts this year. Keep up the good videos. I’m definitely enjoying them. Thanks
Love the look of those north woods! Here in PA we don't get many grouse in my area but an occasional few. Woodcock on the other hand, we're loaded with them.
seen a guy wearing one of your blaze orange drummer shirts at gustafons smoked fish and gas station on route 2 almost to st ignace. The group had been to the dakotas for birds and headed to upper lower for birds.
Is your stoeger a 26 inch? Great shooting! I love hunting ruffed grouse through the woods. I'm thinking of getting a sxs 20ga either 26 or 28" barrels... Saw a nice 28ga but never owned one and I'm not sure I would like it as much as 20ga.. My O&U 12ga is nice but too much at times I find (and heavy to carry around all day).
Thanks man! It is a 26" barrel. Double barrel guns, I would prefer a 28". I shoot 26" on my semi, but the 26" on a double gun you lose a few inches because the receiver is not as long. But the 26 is what I came across for the stoeger and what I ended up with. Good luck this season!
@@UplanderLifestyle Thanks for the reply man! Will keep 28" in mind and hopefully get to handle a few guns before "pulling the trigger". Subscribed to your channel, love the content!
Cool video! As I'm watching I'm actually packing to head up Northern Wisconsin for some grouse and woodies; how are bird numbers in your part this year?
@@UplanderLifestyle have you hunted any of the gem areas? We hunted Backus creek and put up one woodcock and a grouse also my dog pointed a porcupine but stayed clear of it
This place I got was a dog training center for upland bird dogs. I will turn it back to a upland bird center with a clean pond creeks. the land is over grow and the son left too too die I just got it so give me a minute and let me set the land and birds come on around.
What a great video! Any chance you can be hired as a guide? I also love to hunt grouse in northern Michigan, however, I don't have a dog and I often come home empty handed.
been waiting for this one! Good footage, I cant wait til Colt gets a little older and cleans his retrieves up some.. Is that the garmin watch/collar set up?
I am going to start populating the woods by me with Woodcock 25 acres with pond and creek in Michigan the guy across from me has 550 acres and and the farm next too me is 450 soy beans this year is in the field next too me across the street the 550 is all woods back in the day around WW2 time the part of Michigan I am in back in the day you could by a acre of land for 1 dollar. I wish right hahahaha. But there is big farm land around me.
I got the land from a friend of a friend it was not for sale the guy across the street would have pay for it years ago. We got it to deer hunt but it had a house and well water 65,000 and we are friends with the 450 field he is cool. The guys across from me not so much we are on the back side of there land. And it's just a little part. And that's 1/2 mile of woods they own have for years.
@@UplanderLifestyle oh know how I said I don't know the guys across the road from me he just stop by yesterday with his son. They have 650 acres and the one son looks after 125 that's the land I see from my place it's a half mile long. They have cows and getting more. We are going to put birds on there land for a hole cow and pig. I need too start working hard now it's almost winter dam it. Man the seasons are going by fast. It's been so wet by me the crops are still in the field on a lot of farms like soy bean them are still up and some corn fields are still up around me too wet too pick.
Oh and he did say if he knew the land was for sale they would have payed for it years ago. This land was left for dead 15 years ago we did a lot of work just this summer.

Give me a “ jingle “ if you’re going to be in the Traverse City Area.
can you make a video on how to clean and cook the birds you get?
Definitely can do that! Thanks for the feedback!
Hell of a shot on that first bird!!!
That bird was movin!
Cool running into you today.👍
For sure man, good luck rest of season!
I can't believe this guy hits anything in that cover. Crazy
The key is shooting where you 'think' the bird is gonna be! Sometimes it works out!
What GoPro are you using? Seems like a lot of guys use the GoPro 8.
This video was shot with a DJI Osmo Action Cam. Since then I've also been using a GoPro 10
Love the side by side!
Hell yeah, thanks man! Just picked it up before season, its been good to me so far!
Your shooting is nuts dude!
Sometimes I'm dead on! Other times, well the bird keeps flying lol. Thanks for following along!

@@andylafay324 Hopefully your dog stayed clear of the porky! I hunted a Gem one time years ago. Outside of that I haven't hunted any.
@@UplanderLifestyle she stayed away from it 👍
What kind of side by side is that? I'm looking to get one for grouse this year.
Its a pretty plane Jane Stoeger 20 gauge, but its been working for me!
@@UplanderLifestyle Yeah I can see that, you made some great shots. Thanks for the reply!
What line of Brit are those….I like the size
Thanks Harry, I got your FB message. I'll respond back to you there.

French Brittany?
what shot size are you using? Just starting to get into it this year in MN. thx
For grouse and woodcock I typically use 7-8 shot.
I use 8's and 7.5's this time of year. After the leaves are gone and it's later in the year I start shooting 6's.
been waiting for this one! Good footage, I cant wait til Colt gets a little older and cleans his retrieves up some.. Is that the garmin watch/collar set up?
Yes, the watch is linked to the GPS with bluetooth!
@@UplanderLifestyle thats what I thought.. Ive been considering getting one myself
👍
What loads and chokes do you use in your 20?
Shooting 2 3/4" 7.5's!
