Thank you for this great video on replacing the POD on a Yashica Electro 35. I was able to successfully replace the POD on a Yashica Electro 35 G. I used a tiny bit of leather cut from the original case.
thanks for the video! you brought my Electro 35 back to life :) there was basically nothing left of my pad, probably because mine is one of the very early 1966 models
Hi, today my new Yashica Electro 35 GS arrived from your store. The Camera looks great. Now i can´t wait to shoot my first film with this super looking piece of Japanese electro/mechanical artwork. Thanks and Cheers, Achim
Thanks, i finally replaced this gloopy thing and now the "thunk" is alive 😜 Since now i had to hold down the shutter button to shoot at the right speeds, it worked but you have to change the habit and always think to hold down the shutter button, not really convenient. Best regards Ben
Hi there! Just got a 35 GS and it does not make the thump when the advance lever is pressed... Gonna try this put but do you think 2mm thick neoprene will work as a POD replacement? Cheers from Sweden
On my camera, metal bracket seems to be a bit lower, and there doesn't appear to be sufficient clearance to install new part. Any options besides complete disassembly?
Super videos as always. Quick question. I have one of these and apart from the POD problem, my camera also has an issue with the focusing ring. Basically when I focus I see no change in the viewfinder. I think the linkage is disconnected but not sure. Any advice on how to go about fixing this? Thanks.
Hi, there is two red positive wire on the battery chamber. One connected on the battery check board, i couldn't figure out where the other one goes.

Hello there. I've successfully replace the little part, and the camera fires well now, but any reason, the adance lever doesn't come back easilly. I have to push it to make it back otherwise it gets stuck. I don't understance what happened since I didn't touch something related to it. Looks like something block it. Can you help me?

I finally fixed the issue just by screwing the top plate.
Hello could you please tell me how to get the top off of a Ricoh 500, I need to fix the rangefinder as it has parts that are loose and I can not figure out how to get the rewind side of the camera off. I have removed the rewind bit but its still super stuck. What am I missing???
I have a problem with my yashica mg-1. The shutter blade doesn't want to close automatically until I release the shutter button. Do you know how to solve this? Thank you
I remember you talked about lamps buzzing problem and the solution about that. Now I cannot find that part in your video again. Which video and which part is it?
You need to remove the bottom cover of the camera, if you look inside the bottom, directly in line with the shutter button, there is a slide switch about an inch up inside. Add a few drops of lighter fluid, then wind the winding lever to the end, hold it there, and cycle the shutter button several times. This will clean the contacts, and stop the buzzing as well as cure flickering meter lamps.
If you turn the ASA dial Counter Clockwise, it should land on 1000 when it can no longer rotate (or ASA 500 in this camera's case). If you move it Clockwise, it should land on 25 when it can no longer move. When it does that, you'll know that the ASA indicator decal is in the correct position.
For scraping off the old POD material, anything which is small enough to bend 90 degrees will work. A dental tool would be best. For the rest of the hardware I use a JIS Philips head screwdriver, it is a 2.5mm size if I remember rightly.
In my admittedly limited experience, the only problem I see on the camera I have with pad of death is that the shutter doesn't stay open after lifting your finger. Which doesn't seem to be a problem really. But should I expect the shutter to actually fail in the future? Or am I experiencing the extent orvthebproblem?will using with this defect cause further problems? Thanks
Have you tried shooting it? If you're getting correct exposures you're in the clear. The problem with the pad of death is that the cameras shutter will only open for 1/500 of a second or bulb, which can and will incorrectly expose your images
Clear concise instruction, I followed them and now my 35 is back to life

Thank you for this. I was able to repair mine last night, largely because of this video. Appreciate the time and detail. Thanks!

Really nice example of "no thunk" at the beginning and "thunk" at the end.

Thanks -- so helpful, as always.
Mine is the first gen version. It only functions in bulb mode regardless of what setting I put it at. Is that the POD symptom?

Hi! I need to remove the top of a Yashica 72E. How do you remove de ASA dial? Thanks!
I just can't remove the film winder lever? im using a toll that I used for other cameras before, but it seems stuck. Any tips to solve it? Thank you
If the meter light isn’t lighting up with a new battery and the images exposing over each other, do you think the problem is with pad of death?

Would the material of this POD be a rubber or an EVA?
The POD can be rubber or leather, a piece of leather from an old belt or strap can be cut to fit.
Very good!👍👍👍👍
What is the size of the screwdriver and the Allen wrench that you use? Thank you!

Only you know what you are doing cause we sure as hell can't see anything at all other than you talking.
