- It's a welding and belt replacing kind of day. We are gearing up to start harvesting earlage. Before we can begin, there's a couple belts that need to be replaced.
Plus, we are starting to plant our clover cover crop.
Thanks for watching!

You and Kevin are not only running a successful family run business but you are also teaching the next generation how to succeed! Hats off to you both.
Kevin if you drill a hole at the crack stops then weld it. The crack will stop from running later. Its a trick my Grandpa taught me 50 years ago. It works. Lol I am a bit older. Lol enjoy you'll s videos. You are a lucky man with a beautiful family. God is always with you'll. Thanks for the hard work. Steve
Yep, that what we did when I was in the Air Force.
Very good advice. 👍
True!! Thanks!
Family that works together usually stays together! Thanks for an awesome video. 💕
I know what a burning belt smell like because my dad was using it on my back side and that's where I learned to dance 🤣👍🤪

Hahahahha
Love the family camaraderie and yes I've smelled that smell too many times.
Really enjoy all your videos and activities. Even at 80 I still have many fond memories of the farm near Macon MI. It was a 80 acre farm and we made a lving into the 60s. Mainly raised cattle. Always had 50-80 head. A few pigs and of course our riding horses. Our mom was a school teacher and dad was an engineer for Detroit Edison. But we were also full time on the farm. The chickens and the huge home gardens were the kids operation. We always had one gernsey cow for milk and butter. Hand churned butter every week and sold excess.
I have missed all the abundant vegtables and berries we always had. We always had lots of wonderful meals from our own sources. The education of growing up on a farm is like no other. Not only farming, but building construction, everyday arithmetic story problems dealing with numbers dealing with crops, acres, rods, chains, seeds, fertilizer and so much more. A wonderful life! Best ever is teaching our city wives how to milk and squirt them in the face!!! After 59 years she still hasn't forgiven me!
😆 Thanks for watching!!
Being a farmer to ,yes i know what a burnt belt smell like. I injoy your UA-cam account
Thanks!
Great video Rhonda. The smell of a burnt belt is something you never forget. Take care and have a blessed and safe day 🙏
I grew up on the farm,.....worked at a Feed & Fertilizer place,.....and worked at Nuclear Power Plants. Yeah, I know what burning belts smell like. That is the tallest corn I have ever seen. New shed coming along good.
Thx for sharing
I know what a burning belt smells like. The corn ears look really good.
Comments are good for the UA-cam ratings. Yes on burning belt.
Yes, I appreciate everyone's comments!!
That is just amazing the longevity of the welder you still have from your father and very very impressive, you certainly wouldn't get that longevity out of anything these days!!!!!!
Have a Happy Labor Day on Monday. 👍 Thanks for your Families Consistently Strong 💪 Efforts and for Helping Feed America with Cheese 🧀 & Milk.🥛 👍🙏
Same to you!
Yes I smell my belt on my truck when it went bad
Burning belts and smoking clutches, been there done that. Love the videos. Keep it Farm Strong !!
Kevin really knows his stuff, and is always smiling!🇺🇸
It's cool here in Texas the mid 80s but it will go back up
Destructing belts smell like burning rubber. Once you know, you never forget. Thank you for a fact and repair filled episode. More!
Very interesting content, Rhonda!!! Thank you so much !!! Being a diesel mechanic for 43 years, as soon as that cutoff wheel came in contact with that belting, I could smell it burning!! Some odors flood your memories and that surely did mine !!! I love the way everyone pitches in to help when needed!!! I have never met you all, but somehow I feel I know you all !!! I pray that doesn't sound crippy to you!!! I hope you all continue to stay close knit as you are now!!! Everyone please be careful and may God continue to bless you !!!! Eddy
Kevin you got the belts in line of line
Past week, St. Louis was Mid-Upper 90’s and Low 100’s with Heat Indexes between 105-115. Saturday Temps were in the 80’s. Enjoy the Cooler Temps Coming. 👍🙏
Always enjoy your family members and videos. Thanks for sharing with us 😊
Happy Labor Day
I always loved the smell of breaking belts. Pop never kept a breakdown supply to keep us working. Securing the tractor it was off to the shower then to see my honey and a movie, lol. After I got older and it happened, there was a lot of cussing going on. Needless to say, there was a lot of repenting and asking for forgiveness in church on Sunday morning, 😊. I only regret that I didn’t follow the farming life after I grew up on a full time basis. Part time was rewarding but not completely satisfying! You guys make my day!
Thanks for watching!!
The smell of burnt rubber lasts a long time. One never forgets the smell. The price of parts is never forgotten either. 😮
WONDERFUL video Ronda and Kevin! We can't thank you enough for taking the time to explain processes and how things work! Definitely know the smell of burnt rubber! Kevin explaining the operation of the drill was A-1 !! We hope you all have an enjoyable Labor Day, hopefully with family time! Please keep posting for the content is so enjoyable!
I definitely know what a burning belt smells like. I work on a farm. I've also messed up a belt on my lawnmower.
GOOD JOB EVERYONE!
I could smell the belts right when the video started😂 I love seeing your videos with all the different aspects of farming, but I'm especially intrigued by repairs. Just seeing how the machines/equipment are set up and the different ways and styles people go about fixing them. I always learn something new!
That's going to be a nice shop for Kevin and the guys to work in it will be fun to watch them work on all their future projects and repairs!!!
Thanks for sharing your adventures with us, the trials and tribulations of a farmers life are always interesting . There is always something going on ,something to fix or some days the great joy you can have with success. Looking 👀 forward to seeing what excitement you bring us next time . God bless you all ❤️🙏🏻🤗😀✝️
Yes I know about burning belts ,nasty smell. Thanks for another great video Rhonda. Have a safe week!
As you were cutting that belt, I could smell that nasty burning belt smell.
I could definitely smell that belt. lol
P
Oh yes, been there done that back on the farm in Kansas. 😊
Good video about the belts, I didn't know they cost so much now,it takes a lots of milk to pay for those 2 belts. The corn looks great so get ready for a lots of silage, always good luck.
Beautiful to see everyone hope your crop grows and the belt settles well love from Australia ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yes unfortunately I know what a burning belt is lol . Enjoy your videos very much. Be safe this harvest season and God bless.
Miller Thunderbolt, have one in our shop and still in use, my brother bought it in the 50s. manufactured in Appleton Wi witch is about 10 miles from our farm. Let the welding to my son, not steady enough anymore, (beed looks like it did 70 years ago when my brother taught me how to weld). Always use the stick, never mastered the wire feed. 👨🏻🦳 🐄🐄 🚜
Looking good on the barn y’all be safe.
Oh and you are making excellent videos! Right up there with Larsons and Zac Johnson. Your men are great to watch and their sense of humor is great!
I have sold seed for Agway and now grow Mark for 35 years. Are rule of thumb for false seatings of hey is that you should not be able to leave a boot print on that ground after you have planted need to and run the packer over it or run your drill with the packer Wheels over it
Have a great Labor Day, Michigan family. God Bless.❤🙏
Same to you!
I love every periodically!! Burning belts usually leads to new bearings also.
FYI Rhonda,,, gates belts are a good brand,, since retiring from the army and getting farm back, I’ve watched all your videos subscribed, like,, even asked Kevin some questions, all great advice, I’m small farmin 150 acres , no animals, hay ,corn for picking, cover crop, everything going good I’m happy, thanks to Kevin and you 😎
THANKS!
Burnt belts have a stink to them, the kind of smell it sticks with you. Wow, never seen corn that high, looks great.
"more better" job for your production and machine work Kevin And Rhonda...from Jerry in Orlando was Litchfield,Mi 50 yrs ago...good memories...
That's quite the belt great uniform Rhonda great video team.
It's amazing how many odors you become familiar with, some good (bacon, bread, etc) some not so good (burning belts, anti-freeze, hot clutch/brakes, etc). Odors are such a powerful trigger of memories, both good and bad. That was cute when Ethan gave his snack to Mabel. Do you have much of a problem with wildlife pressure on the clover when it's coming up? I would think that would be a good field to be in when deer season opens up. God's blessings for a safe and healthy week.
No, not much issue with wildlife in the clover. Thanks for watching!
Everyone seems to be in a giddy mood today. Maybe you got into some home made fermented apple juice by accident. Great video.
Great video guys feels like we're right there with you.
Awesome video as always!!! Probably just as good of belts online as a dealership. The new shop is gonna be so nice. Your friend from Virginia, Richard.
JD doesn't make the belts, they spec them to the company that does (Gates, etc). Unless they have exclusive rights to the belt sales, the manufacturer can sell them to anyone else. JD just adds their own % to the cost to the customers. Great observation! 👍
Like the new intro. man hope he is not charging too much !! 🤣
Thanks for the silage corn density numbers. Interesting less seed and narrow rows makes more tonnage. We used observation that cobs turn down as dent stage approaches, but lots of wiggle room.
Great job Kevin. Verry informative on what it takes to run your farm.
Know that smell all to well
Once you understand and have experienced the smell of a burning belt, you never forget it.
Great video! Keep them coming.
Yes. I’ve smelt a burning belt more than I’d like to admit. Makes you run to the auger, conveyor, silo unloader, bale chopper, lawnmower. On and on.
I run the life out of everything, too around here also. Love your videos. we're always fixing and making everything we can also. I know that smell also. You know your about to pull into the shop
Been down that road before I know your pain love yalls videos

You too!!
I love the smell of burning belt in the morning ,it smell like a long day coming
Really like the fixing/shop videos.
Kevin as a former CDL A Truck Driver I can attest to the smell of burning rubber 😊
I do know the smell of a burning belt as I grew up on a farm.
Don't worry about Eathen not liking your ideas. He is at that age where you still know everything. Someday he will look back and realize that you had some good ideas.
That dog is lovely. Such a big softie pot as well. I was thinking about the harvester that it's elastic band has gone twong. Just like it ran on a elastic band.
Yes I know real well what a burning belt smells like.Like Kevin says there's a definate problem when ever you smell that smell.

Hello Kevin Joe here AKA trucker Joe, my wife and I just retired last year from Trucking after 42 years over the road. If at wasn't for her stroke we still be out there we used to travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan that where some of my family still live, although we are from Corpus Christi ,Texas anyway let me get to the point after seeing a movie back in 2013 called The Internship with Owen Wilson for some reason the on the line got stuck in my head haven't been able to shake it off my wife laughs at me all the time when I speak to people and I keep saying on the line when it's supposed to be online and I catch myself from time to time still saying that line from the scene lol from the movie. But anyways we enjoy when you step in front of the camera and talk about the equipment Bean that I born on a farm and grew up in the farm still remember some of the old equipment my grandfather and father used to used, before moving to the city I still miss those old days but my father and mother had to do what needed to be done get a better education for their children, but every once in awhile I'll hook up to my flatbed, deliver farm equipment to Farmers so it kept me well informed of the new equipment and technology that was coming out. So Kevin just keep on making more videos when you can I know it's not easy farming is not always easy always a race against the weather and time."God bless" and hope to see more videos soon.
Yep
Nice video guys. Good job.
Enjoy your videos hope all is well Ty🐂🐂🐂🐂😜🤪
Yes on the belt. I possibly could have made that belt having worked for Gates for almost 40 years. Now that belt is made in “The North America “ aka Mexico We didn’t want to smell that burning belt there. But living on a farm and being a shade tree mechanic know that smell.
That's so cool to know! Thanks for sharing!!
I have burnt a blower belt on our forage harvester. It smoked so much, that I could not see the chopper behind me. It only took a couple seconds.
Merci pour cette belle vidéo toujours très intéressante
