- In this video I will go over the final weight of the rifle with rings and scope mounted. I will also cover weight comparisons with original CA Ridgeline (.300WM) and Tikka T3X Superlite (.308).
Thank you, my 4th Christensen is on its way, 1st long action from them Rigl. FFT 270... yippee kijay
Thank you
I have the exact rifle except in 280 ai. I also added the VX3-HD 4.5-14x and used DNZ reaper one piece rings. I removed the brake and mine weighs 6.6lbs. I shot it yesterday just at 50 yards to see if the scope was on and first time I’ve ever hit bullseye without any adjustments. I’ll be going out this weekend to verify 100 yard zero and work up a hunting load with the Barnes 145gr LRX bullets. So far I’m loving the rifle.
That’s great news! I’ve heard great things about DNZ but never had a chance to use them. I’m excited to see how mine does at the range and eventually taking off-hand shots to see how it balances without a rest. I have a soft spot for the .280 Rem cartridge since it was the first in a 700 Mountain rifle I used to take my first deer. The .280 AI is a great cartridge ballistically and maybe one day I’ll join the club and own one. For now, I’m stuck on the .30 cal family. Please keep me posted on the 100 yd zero results.
@@cptkeg5858 I will let you know on my range trip and I look forward to seeing your range video. I also have a mesa in 300 win with a vx5 hd 3-15x on it with DNZ rings and a Bradley cheek riser. It comes in at 9 pounds so this rifle will be my light rifle where I do not feel the need to reach out with a heavy 300 win mag. Always good to have options
@@johnmoore5544 I’ve always said the same thing “always good to have options”. But, then you end up with too many options to choose from and when you look back into your safe you swear your “other options” are giving you a sad neglected look.
@@cptkeg5858 absolutely agree I’m sure a lot of rifles in my safe will feel that way if this new 280 handles the way it seems too. I know I have a Ranger 22 from Christensen and when small game hunting that rifle with a suppressor is the one I always reach for.
@John Moore I was considering a Ranger 22 when they had that awesome rebate deal but I waited too long. I had a Tikka T1X that was a tack driver with a Leupold vX-R firedot scope. Didn’t use it much at all so I made room in the safe.
I also have the exact same rifle in 6.5 PRC. Have the exact scope and rings. I replaced the brake with a factory thread protector. I come in at 6.4#. I plan to add a Dead Air Nomad-Ti as soon as possible to help with recoil and that should put be right at 7#.
I’ll have to look into the Dead Air products , I haven’t heard of them before. The PRC cartridges intrigue me also…it will probably be my next purchase in either 300 PRC or 6.5 PRC. Let me know how the sighting in process goes and what kind of groups you get.
Very nice! I own 2 of these FFT's (308 win and 300 win) if i knew i could have gotten a 30-06 with a 20" barrel I would have bought it instead of the 300 but according to the Christensen site the Ridgeline FFT 30-06 only comes with a 22" barrel...I took the head busting brake off of both my rifles and they are hell to get off even with a 7/8" socket wrench...Make sure and give us a range report..good luck
Hello I'm looking at buying a mesa fft in 308. I've seen so many differences of opinions on them . How is the accuracy and are they picky on ammo? I reload but I don't use super high end components . Usually Hornady sst or serriera bullets.
Perhaps you could show the difference between the in the actions between the Christiansen and the Tikka ?
Differences are far as?…overall dimensions, smoothness, mounting options?
@@cptkeg5858 all of the above. I guess also an overall view since you have used both which of the two is more enjoyable to use / cycle. Also have you noticed any difference in accuracy between the two.
@@Zeses I will put a video together for your request. However, if you are familiar with Tikka actions there is nothing in the market smoother than a Tikka (in my opinion). The Christensen still has a smooth feel to the action but ultimately is a Remington 700 action with fluting. In my previous experience with the 2 original Ridgeline’s I’ve owned, the accuracy was pretty great. There a few factors when it comes to accuracy of a firearm, break-in period, action/barrel quality, and certainly ammo plays a huge role. The Ridgeline’s I’ve had in Sub-MOA groups after taking some time to break them in. As far as ammo …if you use factory preloaded ammo I would recommend Barnes, Hornady, and or Federal (with a good bullet)…I’m a fan of Barnes Vortex TTSX, Hornady GMX (and new CX), or federal ammo loaded with Barnes TTX. Ultimately for better consistency, hand-loading/reloading your own ammo is best. I can honestly say that I’ve NEVER had an accuracy issue with any Tikka I’ve ever owned. The Ridgeline’s have also been accurate…you just need to find the combo of ammo that works best.
Thank you, thorough reply! I’m tossing up buying a Tikka T3x super light vs a Christiansen TFF Rigline, they have a titanium action version as well. Haven’t seen anyone else compare them before hence why I thought I’d get your opinion on it.
I’m looking for a lightweight hunting rifle that doesn’t compromise on accuracy and still has a good smooth action. Have seen some reviews of light rifles but the action has issues with ejecting and isn’t that smooth either.
@@Zeses you can’t go wrong with either! Tikka actions are super smooth but as you can see in the video the Tikka T3X super light I have in .308 is still heavier than the Ridgeline FFT
Beautiful FFT CA
Sir, I contacted CA on a FFT Ridgeline in 3006 & they stated that their barrel length is 22” without the muzzle brake, but you mentioned it’s 20”. I’m a bit confused here.
Is there 2 configurations in this style?
Thank you
Thank you for reaching out…I just physically remeasured mine and it was 22” from action to end of muzzle break.
I have another video about the Ridgeline FFT “first look” where I measure it in person for reference as well.
I have the ridgeline FFT 16'' in 308 and it is 5.9lbs out of the box and 7.3lbs with scope and suppressor. And I have that same scale. lol
How would the C.A. compare to weatherby mark V ultralightweight?
Hey Mason!! In the 6-lug non magnum calibers the Mark V is very comparable to the Christensen. They both weigh in around 5.5-6lbs and both very accurate. I still have my Mark V UL in 30-06 ready for PA deer season this year. I hope you’re enjoying yours still!
@cptkeg5858 sure am!
What caliber are you weighing?
Long action or short?
Thank you
This is a long action in 30-06
Can you get thread protectors for the barrels from Christensen?
They come with a thread protector and a brake. At least mine have.
It’s pronounced “Loo-Pold.”
It blows my mind how many people think it Lea-pold.
Yeah i got a Mesa FFT brand new and well needless to say it had the worst stock and paint hob ever. When i tried to get help from CA they blew me off and gave me no help and they did not even give me any options! I had not even shot yet and still haven’t pain over 1500$ for this junk and for terrible customer service!! Don’t think i will be buying another one! Ever!! Buyer beware!! I used to really like them and i praised them but after the recent experience I had I will be looking elsewhere!
Yep.That was pretty Boring..
Apparently the guns don't work or we would have seen
some Boom time.
