Fanged wyverns were a one-time thing in 3rd gen, so even when more fanged beasts approached in 5th gen onwards, we knew of this boi as the thunder-doggo, not the first fanged wyvern.

0:37 This is the one part that's always lacking in the newer themes. That shamisen just goes so fucking hard It's part of the reason why I feel the other themes don't quite give the raw feeling of "LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO" that the OG does, though the extra ending segment of Rise's theme comes pretty close
Also I feel they kinda killed 0:52 (or 0:51, whichever makes it easier to hear, but it's right at the beginning of 0:52) for me as well. There's just something about that little trill that absolutely gets my blood pumping. In Rise, it's not really a trill anymore, just a single note.

To this very day, the Portable 3rd / pre 5th gen version of this song remains my favourite. I just absolutely love the fact that you can FEEL the different parts of the song and how they're basically tailored to different parts of the fight and the attacks he does. For example, 0:00 - 0:11 seems to represents a sort of suspense that someone, never having done the fight before, feels waiting for something to happen while Zinogre does his badass walk up to you, thinking oh it will be fine, and then suddenly BAM 0:12, Zin hits you with a slam or tackle. The time inbetween 0:12 - 0:25 seemingly represents the fight between you and Zinogre to get keep him from charging. Then, 0:25 -0:30 sound like they represent the early stages of Zinogre charging up, and then as it intensifies and has the slight tonal change in 0:30 - 0:35, it sort of represents the last parts of the charging, until there's a complete shift in the theme as he finishes it and turns into the absolute beast that is the charged form. I feel like this is the most well represented in the song. Then the rest of the song represents the second phase of the fight and the sort of turn based combat it kind of has, etc.

MHGU was the only time I got to fight the cocky/smug version of Zinogre. I don't own any of the previous games, but fighting it in Iceborne instantly made me miss the slow walk+neck crack. I'm really sad it's still in its changed state for Rise, but the fight is still one of my favorites to practice new weapons with.

Zinogre is surely in my top 5 favorite monsters. Great design, awesome fight and equipment, amazing theme! There is something in this theme that reminds me a lot the fight against Volvagia in Ocarina of Time
They really should've saved the deviant theme for the EX hunts alone and give all other deviant quests the monster's regular themes. Zinogre's, for example, is just so much better.
As a Longsword main I first fought him with my standard low rank Rathalos armor, and Rimeblade since I remembered how lightning is weak to ice, still my first time got me carted since I had negative 20 resistance, though after beating it I became a fan for how stylish and ferocious it is, learned how to dodge each of the ground pounds, dodge the tail spins his moves were like in the back of my head.
I agree. I fought him so many times that i remember all his movesets. He's so fun to fight against. Especially when you dodge and counter his every attack while listening to his banger Theme. So goddamn satisfying.

I thought the same thing. Idk if it really is tho but it would make sense.The motif just could have been similar unintentionally as the same musical composer made both the themes for the same game. Although this fact also makes it more suspicious.

Lvl140 Frenzied Stygian Zinogre is insane. It NEVER stops. Good thing I found some insane hunters to do that GQ. To this day, that GQ clears a room the second it's posted. You just can't find the hunters these days.

Fun times were had by all. The end of an era as the servers went down, at zero hour i stayed online till i disconnected tying to join another room. No more Je Suis Monte. No more dual x4 Furia Sedition 140 Shagaru Magalas. Its over. We had some good hunts.

You can capture him with a shock trap if he isn't enraged... but then, if you fail to do so, he'll be even more charged up.

It's the pacing, this part tends to get way too slow because there's nothing in the background to keep the fast pace going.

Whenever Zinogre does his paw attacks I always count the number so I know the rhythm to dodge. Like someone else said, it’s a dance you must learn.
