"On the Beach" and "In a Silent Way", 2 albums that adorn my record collection!
This month marks 50 years since the release of "Rock Bottom", and this record is exactly the opposite of what its title suggests: One year after his shocking accident, Robert Wyatt delivers a brilliant masterpiece, a lesson in life and optimism for all of us!

Excellent show and selections as always, Daniel! I love On the Beach and In a Silent Way, respectively, but for different reasons. There is is very little joy to be found on On the Beach but its sense of despair just takes you in. An old friend of mine called In a Silent Way a painting put to music and I completely agree with that sentiment. The 3-disc box set is very interesting and I return to it quite often. I also love the B-52's self-titled album and Jethro Tull's Stand Up.
I have 10 more and am quite fond of July 1984:
1969: Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left
    1969: Blind Faith - self-titled debut
    1974: The Meters - Rejuvenation
    1979: AC/DC - Highway to Hell
1984: Metallica - Ride the Lightning
1984: Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime
    1984: Y&T - In Rock We Trust
1984: Husker Du - Zen Arcade
    1989: The Stone Roses - self-titled debut
    1989: Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique

As usual, I’ll comment on each of your ten choices:
TMBG ~ l used to work with a dude who was a huge fan of the two Johns. I know most of their catalog through Minky, l thinky. After that, l lost track of They Might Be Giants after he left the store l worked at. One day, l hope to catch up.
The Beefers ~ Another cool band. Saw ‘em live once - maybe with Squeeze? - and they put on a heck of a show. Their last studio album is excellent, too. “Private Idaho,” from their second album just MAY be my fave B-52’s tune.
The Beagles ~ Now you’re talkin’, baby! I concur sir, one of the best pre-Rubber Soul records.
The The ~ Not too familiar with their oeuvre. Oh well, ya can’t know ‘em all.
Yanky ~ l think l lost track of Al after Poodle Hat. He was often played by my TMBG coworker l mentioned above. Saw the Weird one in concert twice, both were groovy shows, man! My doppelgänger! 😉
The Neilster ~ Don’t think I’m hip to this particular platter. Bummer.
Li’l Stevie ~ Yes! Love his seventies stuff, man.
Yes! ~ My fave band of all time! Has some killer songs. “Looking Around” and “Survival” are my top picks here.
Jethro Toe ~ Marty! Ian! “A New Day Yesterday,” “Fat Man” and “Bourée” for me.
MD ~ As Professor 👨‍🏫 Popoff would say, “A retirement artist for me.” Sorry. 😞
    Another cool list, Mista ‘legs!
Cheers from the Big, Bad, Bog of an Apple? 🍎
Rock Out, Prog On & Party Out of Bounds!
    Your clone and mine,
~ The Dancin’, Prancin’, Romancin’ Doppelgänger of Davey Cretin, from CRETIN CLASSICS.

The B52s first record is my favorite. In the US, a early version of Rock Lobster single was released in 1978.The B side is 52 Girls.
Thank you for this informative video. 😊

Mark King’s album “Influences” came out on this month in 1984, if you have that album Daniel then that’s great but I’m assuming it’s quite rare to find on vinyl. 😂👍

I have it on vinyl and CD. It was on my longer list but I couldn’t get a precise date for it so I left it off. It’s very good.

@@bicyclelegsmusic No worries Daniel, fair enough as I don’t own the album neither but I’d love to own it someday. 😄👍
