I agree Terry this is probably the best projector in this price category. One thing I wasn’t aware and you showed me though how close to TV HDR this performs - all what you described I could see - well done
Great video Terry!! There are some calibration settings online that give the image oled-like quality. Was wondering, if given the option between an 85 inch oled or this projector, which one would you purchase for overall experience? And are the colours on the awol better than on an oled panel? Cheers.
Terry, you never fail to bring us the most interesting new products! Am I right in thinking that this screen would work well with content of all different aspect ratios (if you watched in a dark room) because you wouldn't see the space around picture?
I think it depends, I think you can always see the border at the top and bottom of a 16:9 screen with 2.35:1 content but it seemed a little less obvious than with a white screen. I dont think you can beat active masking but thats mega bucks as we all know. I think the cool thing about this screen is it goes away and doesnt require to build to the ceiling to have it in your home
Well done terry great video price needs to come down then simply amazing.what would you say the sitting distance from the 120 inch screen should be so the image doesn't overpower you and what is the shipping cost to the uk
They are available on Amazon so shipping is free, you dont get the free screen though unless you biuy direct from AWOL Vision, you would have to check with them for the shipping costs, I didn't pay that :) Price is a tough one, this is a very good high end unit so its understandable why its expensive but its a lot of money either way you break it down but high end JVC and Sony cost as much if not a lot more. Long throw projectors can go bigger but better I think would be in question. I am about 3.5metres from 120, I dont think I would want to go closer than that being honest
Hi, did you need to do much calibration with this when you first got it? I find the red seems to lean more to magenta for my taste. I haven't the slighted idea what to do to dial this in. I'm guessing there are professional calibrators around that can do that if you don't know what you're doing?
I found some settings that really helped me get a better image - google them and you will find someone who created a chat. It cant be perfect as its not the settings specific to your unit but it should ballpark you
Looks nice, I had real issue with ALR screens and laser projectors. The Sony 5000es combined with a screen innovations slate 1.2 ($3000 screen) was unwatchable due to speckles. Switching to an all white screen with no ALR fixed the issue. I wonder if these have speckles. I have not seen an ALR screen that does not cause speckles.
There are some patches of what I think you call hot spotting where the image seems brighter mostly in the middle compared to the edge but nothing sinister or that bothered me at all. The same with speckles too if they were there it wasn’t bad enough to worry me. I get more bothered about blown out areas of the picture which always happens with projectors especially when you push the contrast up,
Would u buy this over formovie theatre projector 📽️ 4k...plz do reply or u still love formovie as it was ghe best LASER tv for 2 consecutive award by projector central ranking ❤🎉😊
This is much more expensive than the Fornovie but I think its the best UST I have seen to date, the picture is that bit clearer than the others I think because of no colour wheel, the brightness and the lens. I do have a review coming next weekend for a different brand new UST projector more at the price level of the Formovie but I think the AWOL still has the edge over it but this new one is fantastic.
I'm surprised you did not mention it's incredible 3D capability. I own the LTV-3500 and Avatar - The Way of Water in 3D looks mind blowing on the LTV-3500.
All the projectors I have here are the same they all offer one port with EARC - that is the case here, I am not sure I pronounced the "E" very clearly - here is the official spec sheet cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0554/7445/4576/files/3500pro_params.pdf?v=1694518150
Hi I'm panicking, just got my floor rising screen from awol and it rose to the point where it got baggy, now it's closed again, and I can't get it to rise again. Only had it 5 minutes. Any advice? 😬
@@PursuitPerfectSystem it’s ok i fixed it. Was worried for a second. Just thought you may have experienced similar issue. Thanks for coming back to us so quickly though. 100 inches is huge! GF isn’t happy! 😆
OK well I can help you out with why those phrases are being used they're lead engineer is in China that should tell you all you need to know about why those phrases seem a little strange I own the LTV 3500 Pro it is the best projector on the market after two years of research
Wow, I'm currently looking into acquiring my first projector and screen and just came across this review. If I had the money, I would instantly get this. But for my budget, I'm currently looking at the BenQ X3100i, XGIMI Aura or XGIMI Horizon Ultra (not sure yet if I want to go with UST or long-throw). Any advice on that front? Also is there a lower end model screen to the AWOL Vision Cinematic+ that you could recommend that doesn't cost me more than one of the mentioned projectors but still holds up in quality?
The awol screens are free at the moment when you buy their projectors and they have different models all with the same lens but at lower brightness for less money. Check those out. I have reviewed the aura and horizon ultra so check those reviews out too and I have another coming Monday all being well for a very different kind of image vibe
If you have patience, just wait... In 2024 there are the Olympic summer games in Paris and the UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany, you can be sure that a lot of tv and ust laser ust projector manufacterers will give a better discount than the black friday deals.
The answer is always long throw if you have the room/setup for it. It eill alway out perform the steep angle these ultra short throws have to deal with.
I have seen loads of long throw projectors and they can go very large but they all suffer from the same problem lack of colour saturation and the image always looks soft, if you think about it the long throw projector is always shinning its light through itself, as the screen is reflecting the light back towards the projector always, short throws dont have that issue and dont have much light loss as they are so close to the screen. The short throw makes more sense and I think you get a better image for the money as a result. The limitation is size but some now claim 200 inches screen size so that is changing. This is not true of the £68,000 Christie projector I mentioned at the start of this video but the price.
I have a issue with the amount of HDMI ports, why do they always stick to 3 HDMI ports instead of 4 ports. I have a cable tv box, a Nvidia Shield Pro, a UHD blu ray disk player and a soundbar, and i even not mention a X box or a PlayStation. Do you constantly have to switch HDMI cables from the one player to another device. That's ridiculous for a $6000 so called tv replacement device.
Fair point made I think , there must be a reason, long throw projectors I have seen only have 2 hdmi. I assume there must be a reason but I don’t know it
@@PursuitPerfectSystem True that long throw projectors only have 2 HDMI ports, but they are used in a dedicated room with bearly or no light, while all those Ultra Short Throw manufacturers claiming that their projectors are a tv replacement.

Thank you for the thoughtful review! I've just placed my order fir this projector, and thinking of pairing it with Buchsrdt A10s, thoughts?
what are your thoughts on the colour accuracy of the grey screens? :)
Great review any suggestions on a Dolby Atmos speaker system to go with it.

Is this still better than the XGIMI Aura 2?
Does Dolby Vision automatically enable for supported 4K movies and streaming content? If so, I may choose the AWOL Vision 3000 Pro over the Formovie.
They both automatically detect it so best to choose based other more important factors :)
Great review
Thanks very much
hi, in a dark environment between the formovie theater and the awol vision 3000 pro/3500 pro, which is better for watching 4k movies?
I'm surprised you did not mention it's incredible 3D capability. I own the LTV-3500 and Avatar - The Way of Water in 3D looks mind blowing on the LTV-3500.
Yes I was tempted but I am just not interested in 3d to be honest so it would have been half assed to include it so I decided not to
where to buy 3D movie?
Not an eARC port makes it a no go in this day and age!

Hey. What’s about 50 hz refresh rate for pal tv program? Is it native or possible to activate? And how is the fan noise? Thanks!
Fan noise is fine, check with AWOL re the 50Hz as I didnt watch any "normal" UK TV on it
Perhaps a stupid question: which movie(s) did you use? I'd like to take a look at them..
I used a whole variety of 4k discs and streamed content from Disney+ also some from my Apple library that I have purchased.
