I loved this! It’s nice to see two people that work together as a team, and approach these things with common sense. Thank you!
Great advice. I am a widow of 4 years in my late 60s and I have always been very careful with finances. Some people might call me stingy😳, but I was raised well by conservative parents (who went through the Great Depression). My late husband was the same. Advice to many of you ladies: we never know when we could lose our husbands! Mine passed very quickly from early onset Alzheimers. I work, but he made the majority of the money. I was so thankful we had paid off the loan early on our house! If not, I couldn't have afforded to stay in my home (I live in S. California!) Learn to live below your means and don't buy things you really don't need. They become a burden.
Great advice!!!!
I love the idea or a monthly marnie and Michael Monday!!!! I think a great deal of people would enjoy seeing how you together have worked as a team to get to where you are now! Love the chemistry between y’all!!!
This was so good! I’m 57 and learned some new things. Tell Michael to please do this monthly with you.
Yes please. Bring this back as a monthly feature. Thank you
This was an excellent video! Great advice. I learned all of this from my Father as well. In my very early 20s, my first job outside of working for my dad, I make 14k the first year and put 8k in my 401k. I was young and had no expenses. I remember being mad that I didn’t reach the max that year which was about 11k(I think)...... looking back, I’m so grateful for all that my parents taught me about investing..... I wish we had investing classes taught by parents with experience.... starting in elementary school. I’m sure that’s when I started learning!
Phenomenal! Please continue this major theme, as you’re guiding & saving so many families. How do you teach millennials. Sigh. ❤️
My husband and I are the same way. We are in our 50’s and retired. We live in NW Arkansas where cost of living is low, and we decided not to relocate. We also believe the same in regard to college education. We have 5 children who graduated from state schools with no debt.
Such solid advice! Your husband is Aaaaadorable, I love how he goes on and on, my mind stopped listening but my eyes were glued 🤣. I’m gonna have to replay it 😳
Totally agree about Leasing your cars... we have for years. Always nice to have a new car under warranty ....
so good to see Michael and hear his words of wisdom. Miss seeing him - looking great!!
This was fantastic! Yes, please do a Marnie and Michael Monday, on a monthly basis. I would love to hear more about Bonds, etc as opposed to stocks. Thank You to Michael for sharing some of his knowledge with us! 🙌
OMG, I thought I was the only nerd who referenced Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. LOVE IT. Great, frank advice about weddings especially from an influencer. Bravo.
Can you please do an entire video about Michael retiring early? How he did it? Why it was a priority? When he retired? Current day to day?
Happy to talk about general strategies to achieve financial independence.
Yes! How someone still young keeps occupied during the day
This was such a fun video! I hope to see a lot more Michael & Marnie Mondays in 2021!!
Great advice, great video! To put the wedding question in perspective, when I was engaged my mom asked me if I wanted a big wedding or a house.
Thanks, you two, for answering these excellent questions. Great to have sound advice from someone with much knowledge and experience. You both model a strong team.
LOL, Marnie's face when he wouldn't just give a flat answer for education or mortgage...ha!
I caught that too. Lol.
Love this information, and you compliment each other. Hope to see you both again.
This was a great video! Thank you! Loved seeing Michael today. You guys are so smart. Great advice. We also are very conservative in our spending. In our 30’s we were more aggressive in our savings. We are now in our 70’s and can reap the benefits. 👍❤️
I loved your previous financial series ...and am far further financially 😊 thanks ever so!
Thank you for sharing Michael with us what a gift
Marnie - you look absolutely beautiful. 💐 Love this video. Thank Michael for taking one for the team & being on-camera. 😊
Thank you Marnie and Michael for your real life feedback to working families with growing children...
Excellent video with great advice, thank you! Hopefully it is not the last one!
I have a question for next month. Michael commented that you know as much about this as he does. Do you keep up with the investments? My husband sounds very much like Michael. He stays on top of them and is always moving money around. I have a fair idea of where our money is, but am looking for a way to keep track of various accounts. How do you guys do it? Spreadsheet? My concern is that if something happened to my husband, I wouldn't know exactly what we have--or if something happened to both of us, how would our kids know? Do you have a system for that? Hope this makes sense.
Definitely writing this one down for next time!
You should make more of these videos. Very helpful.
Great question!
@@MsGoldgirl yes, please---I am also VERY interested in hearing the details on the nuts and bolts of that!!!!
Thank you, Marnie and Michael, for sharing your knowledge and experiences! I appreciate your taking the time to reply to my previous thank you post, and should clarify that I share your perspective. We've enjoyed living near major cities and the ocean, and the unique experiences that these areas provide. Have a wonderful day, and I look forward to your next video on this topic or any other.
Thank you for doing these videos. I am sharing all these with my sons who have just started on their careers. My husband too can benefit from what Michael has to say. So many people are so invested in their careers they forget or can’t educate themselves about financial planning and strategies.
One of our financial goals was to pay the college tuition for our kids. We began saving when they were born. It’s amazing how much that fund will grow in 18 years.
I love when you do M&M Mondays! It shines light on a lot of things in finance. You and Michael have truly taught me tons of life tips since I began watching your channel!
Thank you! I loved this. You two are adorable as well!!
This was so awesome. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and being so thoughtful and helpful. Thank you Michael for being on camera! Ha!
He's pays you so many compliments! Its so sweet to see :) totally missed M&M Mondays!
I love these finance videos with Michael. He has such great advice!
Excellent information for everyone. Needed advice in this time. Y’all are wonderful.
I would love to see this segment continue sporadically into the new year. Your old video on how to negotiate a car deal really helped this past year when we had to buy a "new" to us vehicle. The tips I learned really helped make this the most pain-free dealings with a car dealership ever!
Much gratitude to you both❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great advice Marnie and Michael! 😊
I’ve missed this series! So glad to see a new episode
Really, enjoyed this video. Thank you and please do more!
Hi Marnie - I married an accountant, listening to Michael sounds so familiar to what I have heard over the years - sacrifice now for the later pay off. Great video, your viewers should be paying attention, living below your means and preparing for retirement are the most important financial decisions you will make, life goes quickly and the pay off is worth it in the end!
Loved every minute of this video!! Thanks!! 😊
Do not be drinking champagne in a beer budget, if you wanna walk around with your Louis Vuitton, Gucci and driving your Mercedez while drowning in debt trying to impress people you don't even like. So it kinda tickled me when Marnie put her arms around Michael 25:05 just so so adorable! such a very humble sweet sweet! couple;)
Thanks for the video choice Marnie! and Thanks to Michael for giving some words to us. Happy New Year Y'all!
When Michael speaks! 👂🏻👂🏻👂🏻👌🏻👌🏻love his advice!❤️
What a wonderful partnership you two have. This was great. Look forward to more. Thank you.n
Such great and solid advice!
Just phenomenal! 💯 Please continue 👌 Thank you both ❤️
Great advice!!
Really enjoyed this. Nice to see this content from you and your husband. Look forward to the nect installment!
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Oh my gosh so happy to see u guys!! I had to jump on here before watching! Ok I’ll resume now. :)
Love this and love you two together!
I really enjoyed this. I think the the advice on college funding was spot on, and Marnie's point of view regarding schools with lower tuition was refreshing. Michael's advice was great, too!
Thank you for the video. I’m so happy to see m&m Monday again🥳🥳🤩🤩. You two are so cute together.
Love this so much! I will be 50 next year and looking at early retirement, following FatFI principles. Really interested in Michael’s early retirement journey and would love more information/insight. Thank you!
Thank you, both....
I loved this video! This is good to know and not shared often..... writing from Tucson! 🌵☀️
Loved this Marnie! I knew you were sharp...iron sharpens iron☺️! Well done y’all!
Finances...keep talking!!
Please create a playlist.
Thank you so much!
We did!! There’s a whole budgeting series playlist and a M&M playlist.
Beautiful couple. SO respectful to each other. Love your connection :-)
This video is great. 529 plan is a must and teaching your children about financial security is the best thing we can do for our children. Due to Covid both of our businesses are closed indefinitely and we are thankful for thinking ahead and being able to survive without money coming in. Love seeing your husband and seeing you both together. ❤️
Thank you to you both!
Fabulous video MG & MG! It's so nice to hear a conservative view point on financial matters. My husband and I have very similar views as you and Michael. Hope you do another in early next year. Thank you.
I love this video! Funny I now live in Montgomery County, suburb of DC. My husband and I always lived below our means but moved here to be close to my daughter after he passed. Michael very much reminds me of him. You are lucky!
You guys are the best. Thank you!
This was very informative. Thank you for sharing.
Loved this video!! Great information Michael gave us!!! Please continue to do these kind of videos!!
I really enjoyed this! My hubby & I got married in our early 20s. We got married at church & had a backyard reception. I’m so glad we didn’t go into debt for that day. It was an important day, but the marriage is so much more important. We found Dave Ramsey 10 years ago & it changed how we viewed money. Also, I grew up in SoCal & I am also VERY glad I moved to Arizona 13 years ago😜🤣
This was a GREAT video!!! Thank you for taking the time to make this video!!! Looking forward to the next one!!! What a couple! 👩🏼🤝👨🏻💕😁
I enjoy watching your videos but especially enjoy when Michael joins in. He has such good advice. My husband and I have always agreed that our best investment was investing in our children’s education. We’ve always put money aside on a weekly basis since our first born was 3 years old. Both of our children do not have student loans. We’ve always made it a priority which at times meant making sacrifices in other areas but it was a personal choice that we made together and one that we do not regret. Like you mentioned, the most important thing is to have these discussions early on and to make sure you’re on the same page.
Michael ..... don’t under estimate yourself. Marnie’s viewers have enjoyed sharing our day with her but we respect your perspective and advice. Sadly my husband passed away in July and I am so grateful that my husband and I planned for our future because one never knows what life brings and what hardships you will encounter. You don’t want the added stress of finances on top of everything else. One never plans for funeral costs and things of that nature at a young age so it’s something that sadly we don’t want to discuss but you really should have money set aside for that.
On a happier note this video brought me back to a video that you did five years ago where Marnie brought you on to discuss finances and how to budget (MQA) I believe. You could see the love between the two of you and you were teasing her about how much money she spent on her hair nails and make up. It brought a smile to my face because it reminded me of the banter between myself and my husband. Please keep doing these videos Michael.
Hi Anna, I’m so sorry to hear about your husband’s passing. It sounds like you had an incredible life together. Sending you a big hug.
Great video! I wholeheartedly agree with your advice on profession/job salary and where you should get a degree to align with debt payoff if you have to take out loans for college! This is where I think parents need to be more vocal with there kids:)
Thank you.
Excellent information! Thanks so much for doing this & Yes Please, I’d love to see this become a monthly series. I need to pay more attention to IG so I can submit questions next time. Thanks again for a fun & informative video.
Thanks for all the money advice, I definitely need the help. And you two make a gorgeous couple!
Nice content. Yes for a monthly feature pls !
Love this 💕 very important content
I’d love to comment on that wedding question. I got married (2nd marriage) in 1991. I bought a $300. Cream colored tea length gown. I had all our flowers made out of silk (can’t remember the exact cost but not crazy expensive) or you can make your own. We got married in this gorgeous little church with close family and our best friends and we ate afterwards at a really nice restaurant in our area. It wasn’t crazy expensive but we had the best time. One of my friends video taped the wedding. You can have a beautiful wedding with spending a ton of money.
WITHOUT I meant.
Exactly!!
Hi Marnie, Good advice and from personal experience too! Love the light blue sweater and your Kendra Scott earrings. It was so nice to see both you and Michael. You were so wise to not move to LA. We have taken some vacation trips to LA in past years and while it is a beautiful place (Disneyland is fun!) the traffic is not fun. I used to think the traffic in SF Bay Area was bad (and it is), but it can't compete with the LA traffic. We may end up leaving CA at some point. It depends on where our son ends up living. Thanks for a very helpful video. xoxo, Karen
I so enjoyed this video and found it so helpful. Thank you both! Please do another soon!
Thank you! Will do!
Please keep this tradition..I love you guys! Such a cool and gorgeous couple! I keep looking for these old videos of you. :)
very enjoyable video-----i think a lot of people will find it very helpful----it's good, sound advice coming from people who have clearly walked the walk and, setting an example that others can see is always more powerful than "talk". good job!
Thank you. 👏👏👏👍
This was great! Thank you putting this together. Watched this with my husband. That was fun and sparked off some great discussions. For most part we are on the same page but it's great to get little reminders to revisit it again every once in a while as our life changes. Our son will be going to WSU either this Fall or next (He'll be doing an Americorps service 1st hopefully). We've been saving since he was born but also consulted a college advisor recently to help us take advantage of programs that are available to college students and to make sure we were on point with application dates and things. There are lots of programs that we weren't aware of when applying for college (something as simple as the WUE, Americorps gives 6K towards college, and then of course what the college itself offers if you know enough to look for it)Consulting a professional was a great help to us.
The wedding answer is so so important! My younger son is having his Bar mitzvah this Fall and I have to stay focused on that too! We will probably have the ceremony and a nice luncheon for that. Having money for him to go to college, and enjoy other extra curricular activities and be able to give to others. These things are more important to us .
OMG I’ve missed M&M mondays!!!!!
Love these videos!
Shout out from L.A.! I’ve hung on since the financial crisis as a single mom with a mortgage. I used to dream of moving to Arizona, NC, or Texas. Had my eye on Austin. I’ve made it this far with a pension and a full time job, but I still hope to cash out and head east one day. Thanks for sharing your resident expert brainiac!
Great full for these videos! Keep posting!
You two are such a great team, on the same page and a very cute couple. Wonderful video, thank you for answering these questions. I have to agree with living below your means and weighing in on moving to a higher cost of living area,, my husband planned to retire early as well and we made the mistake of taking the transfer to a higher cost of living area and that stalled the retirement for 10 years out! Would love to see more!
Excellent advice from both of you. And Michael should be on camera more often. You are both beautiful/handsome, fun, upbeat and give good, sound advice. My son-in-law is also an attorney in corporate bankruptcy and now works in the US Bankruptcy Court. He is also extremely careful with finances as is my husband who is in banking. If more of us could instill these good habits in our children, it would save them so much heartache in the areas of finance. By the way, my son-in-law clerked for a San Antonio judge years ago. Not sure if you two ever crossed paths back then. Great advice all around from you both. One thing I really wish many of friends MY age (68) had done when they worked was to PLEASE take advantage of your employers' 401k programs. I have been shocked at many of my friends who either didn't start a savings program and are now struggling to make ends meet on Social Security. And yes, start when you get your first job because it can add up quickly the amount you save. And the time goes by very quickly in life to have not saved anything.
💖🎉💖🎉💖When I learned how bad of a deal it is to buy a car, I sold my dream car (Audi) and bought myself a used Honda civic CASH for $14k. BEST decision I ever made. Do I miss my Audi, ABSOLUTELY but watching my savings grow is a better feeling than driving that beautiful car! I want to buy a house cash!🤗💕 Single AND living in crazy expensive California, it's the only way. I teach my boys to give save spend (Dave Ramsey & Chris Hogan)-- I learned this from them. I also never believed in credit cards so that helps a lot! Basically, if I can't pay for it in cash, then I cant afford it! Although financing a house would be ok with me but I'd like to have 50% down. Have fun saving!
I love these videos, please dont stop ! So so so helpful ✌🏻
Love this video!!! I have 3 daughters and haven't saved yet for their college, I'm focusing on catching up on my retirement savings... what are current percentages running for college loans if my girls have to go that route? I'm very familiar with historically what mortgages and car loans have ran, but not college.
Here’s the answer Michael sent me: Best is to look at salliemae.com - the quasi government entity for student loans (it’s like Fannie and Freddie) but for student loans. The rates are keyed off an index specific to Sallie Mae.
FYI I love that blue sweater on you Marnie. You look so nice.
Great video! More!!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💖
I really enjoyed this post. I’m always trying to understand money but don’t always make good decisions. I recently sold a house and I have a decent amount of money to invest. However, I’m so uneducated about it, I don’t know what to do....
I think Michael needs his own channel. I'd watch all day. lol
I loved this video and look forward to seeing more like it! Michael mentioned investing in property. Do you own additional real estate? Do you recommend that as an additional means of income? How do you handle medical insurance now that Michael is retired? My husband is self-employed and we pay a fortune for medical insurance. Thank you!
ooh I loved this video!! thanks!
Really liked this video
