Traplines, your log home will be one of the nicest and most beautiful on UA-cam. You are doing a fantastic job on the build. That was a great aerial view of the build site. Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Stay safe my Friend.
The first floor bathroom is the one you’ll hit when you come in dirty. Dump your clothes in the washer and hit the walk-in shower (instead of tub) so you don’t track dirt through the house. Love your design.
Radiant floor heating would be a good way to heat your house and would be a good compliment to using a fireplace. For your master bathroom, I would do a good size walk in shower. There is no need to have 3 bathtubs.
If he gets married one day, his wife will appreciate an upstairs tub. 🫧😁/ But I do agree that he should have at least one walk-in shower on a lower level. For when his older relatives visit & mobility/safety might be an issue. Always good to plan ahead.
This is awesome! We bought our sons some land to build houses on when they're older. They beg me to watch log cabin building videos on UA-cam, and we've been following your project. I bought them high school level books on log cabin building, small and large engine repair, electrical, plumbing, framing, drafting, etc. Anyway, you're helping motivate and educate my boys! We're enjoying your wonderful progress.
Watching this build puts many other 'log homes' to shame. I often watch youtuber's with their builds and think 'so what, I could do better than that'. But you are achieving something special, I've been impressed every step of the way. Your enthusiasm is inspiring. And self taught as well!!?? Very impressive. Keep it up buddy
Love it!! A few things that you may consider that I found practical in my home: Is to have a nice wide WALK-IN shower, no tub. AMAZING! For your master closet, may consider one 4 foot wide door and use barn doors. You'll thank me! ☺️ And just a thought, with your active life. I would suggest not even having that small room for your office. Make it a wide open mudroom area for your gear and other helpful items. Make that space upstairs over looking the beautiful view and over looking your down stairs your office space. But I'm guessing you may find yourself doing most your work at the dining room table... Just a few suggestions you know you best. THANK YOU for your channel! Absolutely love your story! ❤
Been waiting to see the grand plan and it certainly did not disappoint !! Gorgeous ! Guessing you’ll have a separate workshop since the basement will be a finished one. 👌👍🏼
Can’t wait to see the finished product, my favorite channel of this sort. If I may add a piece of advice or my thoughts, I would be removing one or two bathtubs and going with showers, nothing better then a big walk in shower. I’m sure as a man you don’t bath much but every house should have one tub. Also I’d make the bathroom an en-suite off the master. Either way looks awsome. Good for you. As a dad with a teenager becoming his own man. It’s awsome to see someone your age realizing his dream and not being afraid to work his butt of to achieve it. Do it well your young. Cheers.
Thank you Matt yes that is good advice about showers, I have thought about it a fair bit too. Its very likely that one or more of the tubs will end up being showers
MAGNIFICENT!! I sub to about 200 channels. Watch no TV. This house is not only beautiful but sensible. I know it will bring you much happiness. Keep on keeping on!!
Recommend free standing wood stoves versus fireplaces in the wall ....so much more heat proficient as compared to fireplaces where so much heat goes up the chimney , unless perhaps have inserts that capture the heat better
@@TraplinesandInlines Can you make a "fireplace that has doors and a place to add a stove pipe above the fire box. Hey from Nova Scotia… Man don’t know if you know how talented you are! It’s incredible how you are able to sculpture your logs to such precise tolerances. I love watching your videos and wish they would never end.
One thing that might help with the bathroom doors (or really any of the doors off the central hallway) you could use pocket doors that slide into the wall. That way you avoid doors blocking cabinets or opening into the hallway. I use them all the time in designing interior spaces. Anywho, just my two cents. Nice job with the design - I can't wait to see it all finished!
Thanks for showing us! Shocked me when I realized there was no patio on the master bedroom. Go with the 2 fireplaces. Even in a home with a gas furnace, people congregate by the fire. Very excited to see this to completion!
I put radiant heat in my basement and the upper floor it’s expensive but it’s the only way to go there’s nothing like waking up in the morning and stepping on a nice warm floor believe me cheers
Beautiful, in the loft area, I'm not sure how much you're into hunting or fishing, but all my equipment is very expensive, and I love to take care of the guns and fishing gear and if I could I'd would definitely show it off, a nice handmade gun cabinet and fishing rack? Greetings from Ontario I have watched your channel for several years. Thank you for sharing your dream home. It is exceptional and so well planned out . The nook at the top of the stairs I can see two very comfortable chairs, a table in between them and a reading lamp Maybe a small bookshelf along the one side to hold favorite books to read, Perfect place to relax ,especially if it is snowing and the view from there is everyones dream. I have no doubt that this will become a reality for you. All the best and take care . Thank you for all the great videos.
Comment section is really on point. HEAT. Enclosed mudroom with Shower. Make that loft a little bigger and there's your office. PORCH swing would be nice. I can't wait to see what you decide. GREAT JOB!!!!
For the loft suggestion: low bookshelves against the sloped side of roof 9 like a kneewall. Thus making that loft area a reading nook with either a couple of arm chairs and ottomans or maybe a love seat.
You are an incredible young man! been with you for over 3 years now (I just missed your first couple of videos trapping) I'd agree with some other posted comments, no need for 3 tubs. do a walk in shower! As we age it seems like getting in and out of the tub gets tougher. Maybe even splurge with a rainfall head, a second shower head, a wand, some steam. You wouldn't ever regret it I promise. Keep up the amazing work 💯

A beautiful design and some great views within the home. The windows are magnificent. Thanks so much for keeping us up to date. Wishing you a warm and productive Spring!☀
It’s going to be a really nice log home! Going to be great laying in a chair by that big fireplace with snow on the ground. You’ve worked hard and you deserve it. Glad we get to tag along on the build. Thanks buddy!
Your log home is absolutely gorgeous, you truly mastered the craft of log home building. I can't wait to see the finished product. Cheers from Prince Edward Island 🇨🇦
Very nice design, you were fortunate to have someone so talented to work with you and smart enough to know when you need some professional guidance.-once again I am so impressed with your maturity and sensibility.
Nice big house plan. Eager to watch it all come together, especially digging out the basement part. Spring is almost here and I hope you enjoy the rest of the winter and get lots of R&R, you have quite a summer ahead of you!
Dude, consider putting your masonary flue stucture as Scandinavian design! Mine is 4ft x 8ft,Jog your flues to slo down the heat rise and fill it solid with sand , broken brick block and stone to make a solid mass. As you burn the mass stores the heat, when the fire goes out the mass radiats the stored wormth! I had that suggested to me when i built in 1985, also on southern exposure 3 8ft x 5ft bow bay windows! I heat 2700 square ft with 4 cord a year, no oil, wood only! Look into it ! Mine is in the center but no matter! I absolutely love your project! Watch every one! Ken C. Vermont
Beautiful BIG home, love it ~ 🤗! It's going to be fantastic when you're done. Putting the TV downstairs is a nice idea, too - no sense mucking up the beauty of the upstairs living space & outdoor views with obnoxious network TV racket. As for the loft, if you mostly use a laptop, get yourself a big comfy chair & ottoman. So you can sit, work & see outside. Also, add a side table with a good amount of storage to keep chargers, cables, note pads, pens, etc. And a sizeable surface to set a cup of coffee & a table lamp. Lofts are also good places to have a low bookcase or two. From below, all will look just fine.
Most people don't realize the power of Sketchup. This fun tool makes it possible for a regular Joe to make dreams a reality. It can flex from a 5 minute project to a freaking space ship (or a deadly log home). I love watching someone living the dream in the great outdoors.
Great to see what the future holds for your log cabin, love the kitchen, dining, lounge open concept where friends and family can all be together, great for Thanksgiving and Christmas get togethers.
You deserve every square inch of your home and I can’t wait to see your completed dream be a reality. What an amazing place it will be that you would have built out of your own skill and hard work. Unfortunately I live on this tin pot island called the Uk and it’s become pretty much impossible to build something of your own without vast amounts of money which is a total shame. So instead I get to watch you and enjoy you building your dream👍👍
Hello, I've been watching your videos since the beginning and I think it's great what you do. I'm very excited to see what your log cabin looks like when it's finished. Please make a video about the tools you use to work on the log house and for your pickup. I wish you much success, greetings from Germany. 👍🇩🇪😉
Open layout is definitely the right way to go! Spent a lot or years in the building trades and have seen a lot of different layouts and it always seems to me that separating kitchen, living room & dinning with full height walls makes it cramped and uncomfortable. This house is going to be amazing dude thanks for the tour.
One tub in a house is great for kids or maybe ya want to soak a bit but 99% of the time you’ll shower. There nothing more relaxing than a large shower with a bench. We love your channel and watching your progress on your home. Spring is right around the corner. Getter done!
Beautiful! Make sure to change the swing direction of the loft bathroom door so you can stumble to the toilet easier in the dark! Also, the fireplace is very attractive but they tend to be inefficient. Consider a masonry heater for that space!
Hi Kyle 👋🏻 Thank you! 👊🏻👍🏻 Your home is going to be beautiful , you did a great job on the plans my friend! Eco Flow should sponsor you for your solar power🤞🏻 Happy St. Patrick's Day 🍀 God Bless 🙏🏻 Appreciate you!
Love watching your home come to life. I wouldn't put firewood on the terrace of a log house for fear of introducing wood eating critters close to the house.
The office can utilize the closet for supples etc. There are always things you don’t want sitting out in the room, so the closet can be used for this. Install some shelves for now. You could change your mind down the road to perhaps use it for a bedroom.
Hey Kyle, for the loft area... I'm thinking a gaming area of some kind. Probably too small for a pool table, unfortunately. That would be ideal. But, there's certainly room for a foosball table, hockey table, air-hockey table, etc. If you don't want to clutter the area that much, a dart board would be a great option. For me personally, I'd put a full-blown racing sim cockpit there :)
Its been so awesome to follow along with this build! Your design is absolutely brilliant and I know its going to be even more beautiful when completed! Good job mate!
If you look at some of the Russian masonry stoves they run passages and heat benches etc. Some possibilities there to keep heat down low in that room (heat sink low to the ground). They also have built in outside air pre-heater passages set in brick and mortar going under the fireplace. I always thought; install a down blower on the end of the loft (at peak) *opposite the great room. Thus heating the bedrooms and stuff.
You are amazing! what a thoughtful design you made. Ive seen a lot of log homes and some huge ones but yours had a great ballance. I love the staircase off to the side wraping around the fireplace. I agree the little loft space up stair could be a nice den/ library. May be put a couple or three swivel chairs all facing a round coffee table or table ottoman. Im so amazed by you! at your age you are very special 100% and good looking. You mentioned putting a computer in the lower level/basement, Im the same I no longer watch TV. I actually have a big bed and My all in one computer on a rolling cart with an extended pull out shelf for the key board. My printer below and a drawer and its on wheels so it easly pulls up to where I am in bed. Its so comfortable with all the pillows. believe it or not I even entertain in my bedroom ha! ya! what a hoot. Seriously I have to comfortable chairs actually three so we all gather there. I have a cool living room nicely set up but I dont sit in there. May be 10 times of six years. I hope I am able to see your actual house all done. Shoot if it was not so far I could come up there & give you ideas for the interior as I am a designer by trade. Look on youtube as there are a lot of design videos, even modle homes you can get inspiered. I truly wish I had a friend just like you. Oh dont get a wife or a dog ha! Just kidding. But if you do get a wife date her for at least five years. Get a girl from a good family you feel comfortable with. I got a great dog last year, he is a year and two months old. He is awesome. He rarly barks, he loves anyone who comes over, he loves the dogs in my complex only issue even with the doggie door he keeps peeing on my living room floor in the same place. I have stone floors so I can mop it easly. I have litterally taken him each time put his nose in it and told him No then I take him out in the back patio. I must walk him 6 times a day but still the P&P. Enough about me. You are not only handsome but fun, tallented, cool, multi tallented. One last thing I hope to see in one of the videos is how with the foundation above grade sitting on cut virticle logs how you were able to get the basement it? Take care of yourself, be happy. You were born under a lucky star. James
Beautiful home, your one energetic young man to tackle such a big job. I would put my office in the loft. That way you can look outside and see everything. And I would have an outside balcony in your master bedroom. That's all miss your videos.
Really a nice interior plan. I hope you get many years of happy use out of it. Only one thing I noticed, I’ed love to see a fireplace with a much bigger hearth or have you planed on that already. Realize these are only CAD drawings.
Have friends with a very similar, (almost exact floor plan) as this. Very nice and spacious layout that accomodated 2 adults and 2 children. What a great feeling to work so hard on something that will give you tons of comfort and satisfaction in the end. Been digging this channel and build so wish you continued success and good weather bud!

The office can utilize the closet for supples etc. There are always things you don’t want sitting out in the room, so the closet can be used for this. Install some shelves for now. You could change your mind down the road to perhaps use it for a bedroom.
This is such a beautiful project to follow. It's going to be just stunning.
For the space under the stairs make a hidden room behind a book case or something
Pretty nice Kyle, but you sure have a lot of work ahead of you.
Looks awesome. Looks like plenty of room in your new place. That’s good. Never know what the future holds. Good luck with the build friend👍👍
thank you my friend
Everything is so much better when ya do it yourself!! Keep on keeping on man.
Great design, thanks for the walk through. Pocket doors may be an option for the tight space or in-swinging doors.
James
Family in the future! Right deadlines home! 😎👍
Beautiful home, your one energetic young man to tackle such a big job. I would put my office in the loft. That way you can look outside and see everything. And I would have an outside balcony in your master bedroom. That's all miss your videos.
Thanks for the walkthrough, I didn't realize how big it's gonna be, looks awesome
Been digging this channel and build so wish you continued success and good weather bud!
thank you Marc
Are you planning a basement? What about whats your cabin going to sit on? Posts and beams, or concrete.
Beautiful and I enjoy watching it come to life. Keep it up my guy, your hard work is inspiring to watch!
I’m so excited for you! Beautiful home. All your hard work will pay off.
