  • AMRO Chief Economist Hoe Ee Khor discussed the region’s outlook and risks and challenges to growth for 2024, and answered questions from the media. The briefing was moderated by AMRO Senior Communications Officer, Daisy Wong.
Amid receding inflation, growth continues to be resilient in ASEAN+3. AMRO forecasts the region to expand by 4.5% in 2024, supported by firm domestic demand and improving external trade. Inflation in regional economies (excl. Lao PDR and Myanmar) is expected to moderate to 2.6% this year.
Risks, however, remain tilted to the downside.
