LOL is it bad that I laughed at the glass break? I was like "the is some weak glass if a woman can crack it" 😂
But it looks like we might've gotten confirmation that there's 3 realities. My evidence:
1. In episode 1, there's 2 variations of the cabin painting: one with an angel on a gurney and one with a devil on the same gurney. This one shows the devil (or changeling as Alice points out) in a house of some sort.
2. Additionally, there's another version of Bud here too. Notice how the skin lesions aren't as prominent on this Bud than the one we've seen prior? Unlike his interactions prior too, this Bud vehemently denies anything else happened on Apollo 18.
3. No Irene or Irena this episode. Notable considering she's been a staple for all the ESA scenes.
There was some interesting religion lines too in this episode. Alice says she no longer believes in God. The changeling at the end is an interesting detail for her to point out as changelings in European folklore abduct children specifically for the Devil and in this reality, it seems whichever reality we have in this episode is the "innocent" one (Jo didn't cheat, her marriage was strong, Bud isn't violent).

The glass was broken before Jo hit it. I took it to be the helmet of the orbiting dead astronaut. Although there are definite physics issues with that collision as well, anything that breaks that glass would itself be damaged as well!
Oh, very cool fact about the show/real life - NASA really does have a Cold Atomic Lab, it is called ‘CAL’, has been on the ISS since 2018, uses the nearly the same scientific principles, and HAS discovered a new state of matter called the Bose-Einstein Condensate 😍

Awesome theories! I think the Bud/Henry that Paul meets is shooting at a mirror/reflection of Henry and not actually Paul. So mind bending I love it
I knew the CAL was only in B 🔵 existence because Jo A 🔴 didn’t know what they were talking about at her tribunal. She was showing her daughter lettuce (on their horizontal iPads), and it’s only Alice B 🔵 (vertical) who observes the CAL until it sparks and we see the liminal space Alice C 🟣 who is a combination of the two (dressed like B, horizontal like A, single braid.)
P.S. Glasses guy (sry I’m new) your Bud/Henry theory is spot on imho
c'mon you can can do better than a recap. lets do a deep dive on the three (yes 3) universes we're watching simultaneously.
They have been switching “universes” or “timelines” on us since the beginning scene in the ISS with Jo and Alice (red color accents, wears two braids, speaks Swedish) FaceTiming on the iPad. You can see the switch to the other Alice (blue shirt with one ponytail, does not know Swedish) even as she is discussing the CAL right before the “event”. There are also many unexplained scenes with different outfits, hair, accent colors (examples being during the car, plane, and helicopter rides between sites, when Alice talks to Magnus on the swing set in one “universe” and also talks to Henry there in another.) There also seems to be an overlapping third “universe” or “timeline” that is occurring as well. I went back and watched the first three episodes after watching E6 to see how many things I remembered (and how many more things I had missed 🤯) and there are SO many switches throughout. I can’t accept that it’s ending in two more weeks! SUCH a great show 🙌🏻

This episode makes me want to do a rewatch. The only thing that sux is that doing a rewatch on this show, I can’t just have it play in the background, I have to make sure I really pay attention lol. There is just so much going on, but I love that they are giving us more and more answers along the way. I still think there has to be 3 realities, but I don’t have any proof of that. If I do a rewatch and catch anything, I’ll definitely come back here and leave a comment. I really hope you guys do a theory video!

Ok in one universe their car is blue
In this universe its red but when they stop at crossroads to cabin and decide to walk straight across the lake the car looks purple. 11:12

Still think more than 2 timelines are possible. On the security cameras on the boat for episode 3 and 4, look at the dates referenced… one is American saying 10/17/21 and the other 17/10/21 (European). We know Jo returned on the ISS around 10/15 and the news interview Bud did would have been relevant during that timeframe as well.
I’m not necessarily liking Erika. I understand her character is probably confused AF but when Paul called her the wrong name, her response would never be ,”my name is Erika. “ She would’ve probably said something like “why did you just call me that?” or who the F is Frita ? “I think the writers failed that line majorly.
"Changeling" refers to old belief that a child is replaced with a lookalike, but its not really their child. I don't think the use of that word was for demon, etc., but rather intentional priming to the idea that people (Bud, Jo, Paul, etc.) are not - in their respective universe - not who they seem to be. They have been replaced, as with the mythos on The Changeling.
I enjoyed this recap! I think there are 3 realities. The opening scene of Jo with blue hat Alice is different than the scene in episode 5 when Jo is with Alice and they drive across the lake. Even the translations on the recording are different. In the opening scene Jo is seen making the car colder and telling Alice to bundle up. None of this happens when they drive across the lake. Also at the end of episode 5, the recording that Jo plays is different than what happens at the beginning of episode 6. In the recording Jo tells Alice that it’s before dawn and they need to be quiet. In episode 6 they talk about something else and they have a longer conversation. Well at least that is how I’m explaining the differences in those scenes.
I am still confused about this: Joe helped Paul out of ISS when the bolt was stuck. Who let Joe out when she was stuck? How can it be herself, it should be Paul.
Love your analysis of this series. Will be watching y'all in the future. Surprised nobody mentioned the Beatles "Paul is dead / I buried Paul" reference.
Do you think the show will ever explain how Alice has visions of the dead body of the old female Russian astronaut? I understand Alice has been entangled in these alternate realities because she observed the CAL experiment, but in none of her realities should she have ever seen the Russian cosmonaut's '70s-era spacesuit space-bound corpse.
I think Bud does actually shoot Paul (maybe not dead) because Bud is so, so sick of being taunted for Henry's "killing" of the astronauts he (Bud) saved.
You can't tell for sure -- in the end scene of this episode / reality -- if the car is actually red or blue, due to the lighting, and I think that's intentional. They have definitely been overlapping back and forth throughout, since the beginning.
The theme of realities "splitting off" from each other is reminiscent of the mitosis (cells splitting) visual Henry sees when he, alone, observes the results of the CAL experiment.
I’d love to see or hear the explanation of the moment Paul switches realities because in the one where he dies, it wasn’t instant, he died in cardiac arrest due to his arm being trapped

This was a crucial episode, it answered a lot of questions. My mental light bulb kept coming on s I was watching this. "Oh, that's what is going on." And I agree, William as Paul is an amazing actor.
Any ideas why Alice drew that picture of the Dead astronaut in episode 5.
Some ppl are saying there are 3 realities that we are watching….
Apollo 18 was slated for July 1973 when it was cancelled. In an earlier episode Henry/Bud mentioned it flew in 1977.
I thought there were two Buds and one Henry. Henry the hero, Bud in the crap apartment and Bud on the cruise ship, but then I wondered about a second Henry who is more menacing and sat at the computer. Then my head exploded 🤯

The eyeball popping out on impact and floating away - wonder if this is the symbolism from Ep1 where right after the impact, the camera pans out from the ISS. It’s kinda like how right before the impact, we see the ISS zoom in from the POV of the dead floating cosmonaut approaching the ISS, the pan out is the view from the eyeball?
A really cool detail is at about 9mins in from ep6 where the camera shows a view out of the porthole. It shows Denmark, but INVERTED, this explains the “The world is the wrong way around and why Jo and Paul are facing each other instead of on top of each other.
I tried to break down Irena from this episode as well. There’s one in the blue universe where Henry creates the CAL and she’s the head of roscosmos, There’s also a recording of her coming back to earth saying “the world is the wrong way around” - now we actually don’t know if this is the Irena who is head of roscosmos or an Irena from a 3rd reality. The second is clearly the floater who hit the ISS. Seems like the show is going through great lengths to confuse us regarding if there’s 2 or 3 versions of these charactors by showing the timeline nonlinearly.
With Jo, we kinda do see 3 different Jo’s. One who dies in impact, one who goes back to earth in the blue reality, and one who is seen by Paul alive on the ISS and released the Soyuz after the bolt malfunction.

Great episode, I've been loving this show since the beginning and I'm hoping for a strong ending so it will drive me to rewatch. William Catlett is a fantastic actor, he has a bright future ahead, I could definitely see him playing Muhammad Ali in the future.

Great pointing out that most of this episode takes place earlier in the timeline. I believe that this is what starts Henry, aka Bud, on his pursuit to mess things up as he is only now becoming clear that in his original reality he was a hero and is still recognized as a hero only it’s not him getting the acknowledgment nevertheless I am still struggling to understand the 3rd reality although I do concede that it’s a fact. I think they were tipping us off to that at the beginning of the episode when they were saying now for the 3rd time let’s try this again. I’ll have to go back and watch that again to get the specifics
