This story has always given me a good laugh. The wild west: gunslingers, range wars, rustling, train robberies, conflicts with the Sioux and Cheyenne. And guys fighting over dinosaur bones. And the manscaping? That belongs on a creepypasta channel.
Correction: Elasmosaurus is not a dinosaur, but a marine reptile. Common mistake there along with Pterosaurs and other Prehistoric animals like Mammoths, Dimetrodons, Mosasaurs, Plesiosaurs, etc. which are not Dinosaurs by the way

Did you know a dinosaur skeleton that that is only 30% complete is know as a complete skeleton because it is so very rare to get 60% and in the museum you may see a seemingly complete skeleton but really it is kind of a Frankenstein skeleton because they use different parts of random bones found all over
It depends on what you mean, a complete skeleton is generally pieced together from taking the first fossils ever found and compiling them with the fossils found afterwards of the same species to try to get a picture for parts of the skeleton you didn't have in the first animal, the first is the holotype and the second more complete picture is the neotype.

I have found plenty of native American artifacts and a few fossils. The coolest being a razor sharp obcidian arrowhead the size of your pinkie nail. And the fossil, I found a shark tooth way high up in the mountains of Idaho. A very bizarre find.
So how does a shark tooth end up on a mountain top? The mountain was once at sea level where the shark died and then pushed up by Huge continental plate movements. Sea shells are regularly found on mountain tops or in areas where there is no sea now. The earth has gone through massive transformation in the past.
They do say the progression of human tech and knowledge has been fuelled by wars over the generations, and it would seam that the field of paleontology is no different. Great video as per usual, keep it up.
I find it extremely difficult to believe that the smithsonian was not involved directly. Can't remember what year it was developing but I just wonder who found the Dorset, cyclops and nephilem first. Don't kid yourself, there is a lot they won't tell us!!

I remember reading about this in a book at some point, the scientific world is absolutely full of this sort of behavior lol. Kind of makes you doubt what is accepted as historical facts today.

It’s expressed in the books but also in Jurassic World where Wu himself highlights that all the dinosaurs are not to anatomically accurate design due to Hammond and Masrani wanting their own idea of what dinosaurs looked like. All the inaccuracies in design are from extra gene splicing from other organisms, such as tree frogs. My favorite debate with the films is just how far can humans control genetic power before it spirals out of control. There’s so many arguments to be had there and it’s just brilliant what all Crichton designed.
