@@simonvanderheijden432 Exactly. And a dB meter will tell us how loud. I wanted to know if that great tone can be used in a small club without an attenuator.
Of course I add a comment ! What an amp… nothing to say but John Suhr put again all his experience and passion in this one. What a sound, what a personality, versatility … Thk u x 2. Love it, it’s mine.
Thanks Peach - my Hombre arrived this afternoon and it's fantastic. I saw this video over the weekend and I was sold. Had I not bought this amp I was heading towards using the cash as a deposit on a Pete Thorn Sig guitar. So you have saved me £2000 - that's my justification. 🤘
Would have liked to hear this with a Les Paul to hear how close it could get to that BFG tone on the early ZZ Top albums, otherwise sounds great with the T
The more I hear the more I realize Suhr is a killer amp company disguised as a boutique guitar company. SL-67, SL-68, both PTs and now this..... both sides of the pond aced.
Just heard about this amp recently. Sounds so good! Considering getting a Fender style amp in the not-so-distant future and this may have just jumped to the top of the list!
I'd love to hear Suhr's take on an old British amp, the Selmer Thunderbird Twin 30... It was never as common as the Vox AC30 amps, but I really preferred it in every way with the EL34 output into a pair of 12" Greenbacks...
Somehow I did not hear about or see this amp. Sounds mighty fine and I'd be all over it if I didn't just pick up an original '62 brownface Princeton recently! Great vid guys
@@YeatzeeGuitar Hey man, I love my Princeton! I've been a long time Fender blackface lover, but recently discovered the power of the brownface era. I'm not sure about 6G3 Deluxes, but original 6G2 Princetons go for between $1,700 and $2,500 from what I've seen. I paid a little more than what these Suhrs retail for new. That said, I have no doubt the Suhr is a great amp! Good luck in your search, cheers
@@CargoShorts7 Yeah I've been looking at the princetons, they just seem like killer grab and go amps with lots of charm. That's about the price range I see them in as well. Hefty, but I bet they'll only go up in value. The suhr does sound good though!
Tight sounding Wonder if jumping channels works well I just ordered a Creamback for my Silvertone 1482 I like Celestions in Fender type combos Very cool
My Stapleton runs 17 watts with good tubes. It doesn't get as gainy as the Suhr, although with a pedal in front, and turned up to 9, it does everything, and can rock. Check out a fun demo on soundcloud Jamie Todd Schultz Band. All amp, no pedals, clean/driven sounds.
This is such a great amp. Right in my ideal sound wheelhouse. Definitely much cheaper than a real ‘61 Fender Brown Deluxe. Maybe Fender will respond with a reissue? One major regret...selling a ‘61 Tremolux! Had all this in a Blonde Head & Oxblood Grill, and matching 1 x 12” (after the 10” w/ tone ring speaker blew) Cabinet. Every time I see an amp like this, I kick myself! Needed the money. Got a fair price...but still? 😣
The original Fender Deluxe started dropping the highs at a bright volume setting of 6 in the bright channel. Dimed out the sound is not that great. 18 or 20 watts it is actually quite loud. (50 year owner of an original 63 Deluxe)
I dunno how I feel about that lower-gain semi-clean tone. It has a buzzy tint to the overtones that reminds me of a mic being clipped rather than a more mellow overdrive. Maybe that's due to the more lower-midrange focus, but... too BBQ rock for my tastes. I can see it being a popular thing, though.
I started gigging with my '63-6G3 in '77 I used it in small clubs of 150 people in a five piece three guitar bass guitar and drummer five vocals pretty much you know the old type of deal with four part harmonies. on everything I never really needed more power.. on bigger clubs I was using my Mark 2B boogie combo , and usually a 4x12 cabinet. Then when I went on the road, I'd use The Boogie and two 4x12 Marshall cabinets and a music man 135 head and an HD135 2x12 combo or my 67JMP 45 tremolo head. . Now that we've gotten old and lost some of our hearing still playing smaller venues in los angeles usually using a '67 Blk F vibroluxe reverb and a hombre combo in stereo. Admittedly, they have Alternative very good pedal platforms as I've never used pedals other than an echoplex before. I really works really well with that Keeley compressor an old maxin 808 a line6 dl4. 👍👍 two thumbs up for the hombre.
Yes, it's PCB and PCB mounted tube sockets. He said "hand wired" probably by accident. Not many amp techs that I know will touch a PCB amp. For $600 more, the Down Brownie is the way to go. For a couple hundred less, Lil Dawg, Marsh and Vintagetone all do an actual 6G3 hand wired/ point to point clone.
@@colinletteney6667 "amp techs" are usually hacks unqualified to work on electronics in any other industry. If they refuse to work on it, it means they don't know how.
Simple circuit = better sound = more expensive. Does that mean to build a cheaper amp you need to make a more complicated circuit that is designed to sound worse?
What does it cost? Why are these touts so reluctant to bring up this ( unpleasant) detail. Maybe a comment as to how it compares to similarly priced items, or if it is value for money, would be helpful to their prospective customers.
For the price of this thing you could have many other amps.... Mesa boogie, fender deluxe..... and still have change in your pocket for a number of pedals
Psionic Audio does an excellent 40 min mostly internal examination of the Hombre.
Yes that is a great video. The Hombre is not hand-wired as Jack mentions within this video, but it's still super tidy!
Jack's playing skills have to be recognized!
I knew I’d find the best demo for this amp here. Jack’s playing perfectly suits this amp, and any amp really. Great work!
Peach / Jack are crushing it with these demos!
Another excellent demo Jack! May I suggest a dB meter so we can get an idea of how loud the amps that you demo are?

print a board and have the cap sequences tie into each other with out solder- that equates less time, parts and man power needed = Cheaper
