My Paper Airplane Launcher is DANGEROUS

- What happens when you use a 3000KV brushless motor to launch paper airplanes?
In this video, I explore that question with a 3D printed paper airplane launcher. Watch as I launch planes at speeds of over 100km/h (60mph) through balloons, fruit, and even glass??
I'm not gonna lie, I was scared of this thing every time I turned it on. 20,000 rpm is FAST when paired with mainly 3D printed parts. Engineering is fun, and I wanted to showcase that in this video. I hope you find it as enjoyable to watch as it was for me to film!

Huge thanks to @ChronosCameras for sending me their 2.1 High Speed camera to try out. All the super slow-mo shots in this video were shot on their camera. You can find more info here:

The first place my brain went after watching this was “sheet metal airplanes”.
I wonder if there's like a Bonneville salt flats but for paper airplanes, like an outdoor area that almost never gets wind, where the conditions for those distance flights are best.
Don't know why but damn that banana shot was satisfying 😂
I guess you fulfilled my childhood dream with this :D
My suggestions on improvement would be
more resin in contact point to increase friction , so it will be lees likely to skip turns on paper and transfer more energy)
make these wheels heavier,so they would act like a flywheel storing it them more energy to transfer to paper
and try more rigid paper for planes, for them to not deform with that crazy acceleration.
Not sure if you are interested in V2, but thanks for evoking my fantasy
such a boring day it was
These are great suggestions! V2 would definitely use some metal parts for the wheels, and more rigid paper for the planes would also be a huge help too. Happy to help make the day less boring!
Am I the only viewer who felt a pang of sympathy when that airplane crunched into the glass? Guess I've seen too many "bird rescued after flying into window glass" late night videos!
Bro’s got confetti deep in the shag of the carpet, always to be seen, never to be clean
Just moved out instead!
let it be the next guys problem 😂
Therapy for nerds 👍❤️
this is some good stuff!
So inspiring ... thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent and lots of creative engineering fun!
Thank you very much!!
i guarantee you could actually get good outdoor results with this, you gotta use a real stable design and get the paper plane properly dialed in before you do it though, i would reccomend the nakamura lock
very cool!! will the STLs be available?!?
Thanks dude! Very likely! Stay tuned
nice work
Thanks Amir!
When I saw you throwing the paper airplanes at the glass, I said to myself "the bottom must be held". And you just did it with the rulers hahah
Haha! couldn't not break the glass at that point!
Speed-deprived Josh Peck
this is better than mark rober
Mark Rober is hard to beat! I’ll happily take second
"Feel free to make fun of me in the comment" that's the best part
😂😂
isnt the glass not breaking because its not secured? the impact gets absorbed by its ability to swing away
It could be used for making badminton shuttle thrower.
Absolutely!
@@Engineezy next video idea 💡 😄
@@Engineezyi will be very interested in it since I am an avid badminton player. 😊
dude if you shot playing cards through this....deadly.
I should’ve 😳
Should have 3d printed some paper airplane style plastic planes for outdoors
Ooh I should’ve!
To compliment this machine, one that folds up the airplanes would be awesome to see too. lol
Amazing paper airplane launcher!
You should send playing cards flying through this, those things can slice anything if thrown the right way
That would be pretty fun!
Powerfull!
Surprisingly!
Separate the spinning wheels at least 1/2 and use a flexible material or add an enclosure because there is a safety hazard for your fingers.
That is very true 🤓
Love your vids
do this with a car door windows !
you should have made or tried paper plane suzane, not the gliders
Very nice. It’s almost a “zip string “ machine.
Haha yes! That would also have worked well
To break glass more efficiently fire the paper plane at one corner of the glass
7:36 Ants
Awesome! Kinda reminds me of a baseball pitching machine of some sort.
Definitely the inspiration!
Was hoping he'd show how far the plane would fly unobstructed.
Maybe the rpm is too high for the outdoor test not allowing enough time for lift its shooting it rather then floating on the air like a plane
You’re probably on to something there, might be deforming the plane too much as well
@@Engineezy im no aerospace engineer but that would be my only thought as to why lol
Sick!
nice!
Omg imagine screaming like a girl, could not be me. Im just kidding, great video, keep it up!
😅
Mac 5 speed
No
Apparently not 🤷♀️
ĤĪĪĪ
but an aluminum airplane broke a steel building....ok
