  • As seen in the "will it run" video, my 1965 Gravely L8 smokes quite a bit when warm. In this episode I diagnose the problem and prepare for repairs.
    One item of note, I do not perform a "leak down" test in this video. This test can be very useful when diagnosing a loss of compression.

    We had one in 1965 when I was a little girl. It had attachments like a post hold digger that we used to dig holes for trees.

    i just recently bought a Model LI gravely and got it running for the first time in about 20 years , its a cool machine but mine smokes when cold but still seems to run good

    One thing these engines are good for is sticking exhaust valves.

    If you rebor over 40 the walls will be two than may over heat????

    I would suggest that you ground the sparkplug wire. Better for the coil.

      What? Ground the plug wire? So it won’t get spark?
