Put the rug down just temporarily while the kiddos open toys on Christmas! An hour or so won’t hurt the floors. We had the same issue when we get all new hardwoods a few years ago :)

The furniture pads for the dining room chairs were absolutely terrible in my house. They would flip off and get adhesive all over the floor. I ended up using my daughter's 3 months old socks that match the color of the furniture. They work great and you can't even tell that the chairs are wearing socks because it is the same color as the chair. LOL.

Your floors look amazing! They will off-gas for a few weeks. Remember to purge the air from your house for a couple hours a day for the first couple of weeks. We didn’t do this when we refinished our floors and our dryer made our clothes smell like diesel fuel. It was terrible and we eventually had to replace our dryer. 😬
