    Back in October of 1979 I ordered a Z28 Camaro with T-tops, and 4-speed. While still waiting for the Z28 to come in, I came out of a Stop-N-Go and saw a black Formula like this one. I thought it was the most gorgeous car I had ever seen, and wished I had bought one of these. As it turned out, my Z28 took too long to arrive, and I wound up with a Black 79 T/A with WS6, and 400 4-Speed. I think I came out ok. Still have it.

      Awesome story, I think you came out on top, I think the front ends on the Firebirds look so much better than the Camaros. Glad to hear you still have it, I talk to so many guys who regret selling theirs. How many miles do you have on it?

      @callawayclassics When it was newer I used it as a daily driver, so it has 125k miles. I had it restored three years ago, so now I just take it out every so often. I love to drive it after I see articles like this one. Makes me feel like driving it.

      @@mgonzales56 very nice! Glad to hear you're keeping it in good shape but also taking it out to enjoy it! They're fun to cruise in, especially with the reactions you get from people seeing it

    That is one beautiful, badass Formula! Whoever has owned that for the last 43 years knew what they had.👍

    You have to be kidding 1of 346? I had this car. I had a 72 formula as well. I read about the motors but the early motors I did not have an internet. Oh well lol. I painted my blue it was tan. After I fixed it up needed minimum work just wanted to change the color. I sold it for 4500 in mint shape. Still have the ad. I had no idea there were so few.

      Nice! Sounds like you had a nice pair with this and the 71! Wow, 4,500, crazy how their prices have climbed

      That's what makes this one rare. I didn't even know they had a Pontiac 400 in a formula that year.

      Only 346 Formulas built with the 400 4-speed. 😎

    Definitely a sleeper. Same motor as the 400 4spds TA that year. Only 1 out of 10 TA's that year, had that motor, transmission combo, probably less for the formula.
    The only thing missing is T-tops, besides that, it's loaded, it looks like, pw, pdl and etc.

    • @callawayclassics
      @callawayclassics  Рік тому +1

      Yes, definitely a sleeper! I like that it is more subtle than the TA by not having the bird on the hood (nothing against the screaming chicken haha). No one expects this drivetrain in a Formula! Only 346 like this.
      Yes, alot of nice features, including A/C. It does actually have T-tops, hard to notice as they blend in with the black paint.
      Thanks for checking it out!

    Oh my my my my my I wish I was wealthy enough and financially more stable to be honest about it to be able to afford this. What an outstanding gorgeous-looking ride and I think it's rare which most likely means that cost a lot of money. I'm sure this is for somebody who has plenty of change laying around with Deep Pockets.

    I have a 77 Pontiac Firebird. I absolutely hated what they did to the front end in 79/80. The 78 Firebird has a classic front end. The 79 front end was the beginning of the end. The "Classic" feel was gone.

    • @callawayclassics
      @callawayclassics  5 місяців тому

      I don't mind it too much, but I do prefer the 77/78 over the 79. The 77/78 is much sleeker looking. Overall though, all of them looked better than the Camaro counterparts

    • @roquefortfiles
      @roquefortfiles 5 місяців тому +1

      @@callawayclassics I hear all of the parts from a Camaro are interchangeable with a Firebird. Not sure if that's true or not. I don't have the chicken on the hood. I think all that stuff is tacky.

    • @callawayclassics
      @callawayclassics  5 місяців тому

      @@roquefortfilesyou're one of the few. I think the chicken is cool until you realize that most Trans Ams have one. More unique to have one without it. Alot of people think the bird was standard on the Trans Am but it was an option
