Hey everyone! We're planning to have Maria on TECH(talk) again to discuss CCPA once it goes into effect next month. If you have any questions you'd like us to ask her, reply to this comment. --Juliet
Hi I want to start adding ads on my website but it's required to be CCPA compliant before I start adding ads. My question is how do you do that? Is there any plugin in WordPress, or any code that will show the banner ?? I think it shouldn't be that hard.. Please tell me if I do it right or wrong - I added code from some Opt-Out builder, and it shows the small text at the bottom on each page on my website that says " Do Not Sell My Personal Information" and when you click on that, it will open banner where you can opt-out from "Personalized Advertisements" and says " Turning this off will opt you out of personalized advertisements on this website." Question is - Am I Compliant? Or I need to do something different ?? Thanks for your response!
My Credit Union has been sharing my information for years, even when I've told them not to. I'm glad I'm finally gonna be able to sue the hell out of them!
We're planning on doing a live streamed follow-up video on Feb. 18. around 11:30 a.m. ET. Let us know if you have any questions before then, and we'll have Maria answer them! -Juliet
Hey, Joe! We did a follow up video earlier today: ua-cam.com/video/0xycQbbst3A/v-deo.html. Let us know if you have any other questions, and thanks for watching. --Juliet
What do you make of companies who do not qualify under the law(to be a business) but have data of California residence ,and how is this going to affect the companies who are suppose to comply with the law and those that do not need to ?? will be glad to see your next video on this
Hey, Emmanuel! We addressed your question, including best practices even if you don't qualify to comply during our livestream: ua-cam.com/video/0xycQbbst3A/v-deo.html. --Juliet
Hi, Greg! Maria and I discussed how businesses might streamline compliance with tech earlier today during our #CCPA livestream: ua-cam.com/video/0xycQbbst3A/v-deo.html. --Juliet
Thanks so much for this great info! I have one big question, though. As far as which businesses will be affected by the law, one of the criteria is: “possesses/receives personal data of at least 50K+ of consumers, households, or devices”. Some resources say the 50K refers to California residents specifically. Other sources seem to interpret the law more broad and say it’s 50K consumers in general. Do you know which it is? Thanks!
Hey! We answered your question and more earlier today on our livestream. Check it out and let me know if you have any other questions: ua-cam.com/video/0xycQbbst3A/v-deo.html. --Juliet
No, it applies to companies that collect data of California residents. Since CA is the most populous state in the USA, it can be assumed *most* companies collect data of at least one California resident. Of course, there's other thresholds that have to be met in order to have to comply. But, it's likely we'll see companies applying CCPA to all of its U.S. users, since it's easier to do that than sift through massive amounts of data to identify CA residents. --Juliet
Good question! I'm not entirely sure. We're hoping to do a follow-up video with Maria soon, so I'll add this to our list of questions and get back to you once the video is posted. --Juliet
Hi! While we didn't get into the specifics of Adsense revenue, we did discuss the difference between business use and marketing data, as well as how to comply with CCPA if you're a small business: ua-cam.com/video/0xycQbbst3A/v-deo.html. --Juliet
Hey there! We don't currently have any videos specifically about GDPR, but we'll keep that topic in mind. We _do_ have a video about how Brexit could impact data privacy in the UK & EU, though: ua-cam.com/video/EKw8yB49uNw/v-deo.html. --Juliet

It seems like BlockChain technology might fix and help this type of law.

Does this only apply to companies that reside within California???
