I dont normally comment on YT videos but I´m going to make an exception this time. Now, I´ve seen quite a bit of voice coach reaction videos but yours really stood out. Not just because you had some insights that others who title themselves voice coaches, but you said the incredibly important key phrase: "she obviously has worked incredibly hard on her singing"... People tend to speak about god given talent, but rarely do they mention the work needed to get really good at your craft. I´m really happy you give time to acknowledge that part of it since it is so often overlooked, well done sir!
I have difficulty, myself, with any 'reactor' who seems 2 b unwilling 2 let the artist and the entirety of that performance be the focus, or b the star; I don't consider a 'vocal tutorial' the same as one who gives an honest reaction 2 what he hears---once he's actually heard it...The 'tutorial' that chops up the vocal performance, at the very least, prevents everyone from hearing & fully feeling the overall effect of the performance given. I have, tho, no problem with a vocal tutorial, per se..just, I think there is a huge difference between reaction & a teaching tutorial, & should b labelled as such. I listen all her covers and with her smokey , raspy voice and her emotions when she sing, all covers are better than original songs. I just love her. Excellent analysis! I love how you recognized the effect of her arrangement on eventual comparisons to the original. As a fan of hers, when I heard she was doing this song I was so worried about how it would be received because so few get good reviews for attempting it even if they do it perfect. Angelina managed to not just change the arrangement but showcase her talents and style without disrespecting the original. Amazing for one so young despite her years of experience.
That was a terrific analysis of what Angelina did to this iconic rock masterpiece. She now has made it her own. And when she becomes a superstar, which I believe she will, singers will cover the Angelina Jordan version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Compare that to what Eva Cassidy did to the Judy Garland version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", which has become the standard for that song. Her singing puts me on a roller coaster that produces tears and smiles and gives me an emotional workout. At such a young age, she reminds me of Amira Willinghagen. Amira was discovered on Holland's Got Talent in 2013 at the age of 9. Angelina and Amira do not sing the same type of songs. Amira is generally an opera soprano singing everywhere but in the U.S. I only mention both supreme talents because they are both a part of our musical present and future among the very best. We are blessed to have such voices to give us joy in our lives when times are tough and we are down and we need something to bring our spirits around. Sam Scott, you are also a talent. she has already grown so much from the earlier recordings of when she was 6 and 7. I worry about young talent cause the music industry is brutal and has wrecked many beautifully gifted artists. If all goes well she will become a superstar possibly bringing in a new genre where there's a fusion of old jazzy-blues with very contemporary.

There's hardly anything you can listen to by Angelina that won't astound you. Just make sure it's a recording with good sound quality; there are some from concerts and rehearsals that have bad sound. Other than that, you're guarantied a great musical experience. She has never been a "child singer", but instead a real artist that happens to be a child. It's truly remarkable. I've been in love with her voice since her talent show performance of "Fly me to the Moon" and then "Gloomy Sunday". I wasn't as blown away by "I put a spell on you". I don't recall why- only that it wasn't a fave. She has such an amazing talent. This performance gave me goosebumps. She definitely made the song her own. Sam, you are spot on. When I heard this the first (and 20th and 100th) time, my jaw just dropped. I hear Nora Jones and Amy Winehouse in there, but Angelina definitely has a style all her own. I am a 67 year old man, a former jazz musician and music teacher, and I cry every time I watch this. I hope she has managers who will have her best interests at heart and not just the money. After seeing this, I watched other videos of her on UA-cam. Some were outstanding, some were OK. A big concern I have is that they are over-sexualizing her. She's 14 years old, for God's sake. Let her be a teenager and allow her to grow into the superstar she is destined to be!
I think the best place to go next would be to see her Norway's Got Talent audition, where she sang a Billie Holiday song at 7. Then you'll see how amazing she was at that age. I can't hear any loud trucks at all here, unless I turn the volume up so loud that your voice would be too loud.

Starting at present and working back is one option... as someone very familiar with all 125 songs she has done in the last few years, I would highly recommend at least checking out her beginnings. I think she just turned 13/14. She sang for Norway's Got Talent at age 7, and won the contest as soon as she turned 8. She is quite remarkable. Great range; great power. When you see her singing 'I put a Spell on you' at age 9, you will not believe it.

I dont normally comment on YT videos but I´m going to make an exception this time. Now, I´ve seen quite a bit of voice coach reaction videos but yours really stood out. Not just because you had some insights that others who title themselves voice coaches, but you said the incredibly important key phrase: "she obviously has worked incredibly hard on her singing"... People tend to speak about god given talent, but rarely do they mention the work needed to get really good at your craft. I´m really happy you give time to acknowledge that part of it since it is so often overlooked, well done sir!
I have difficulty, myself, with any 'reactor' who seems 2 b unwilling 2 let the artist and the entirety of that performance be the focus, or b the star; I don't consider a 'vocal tutorial' the same as one who gives an honest reaction 2 what he hears---once he's actually heard it...The 'tutorial' that chops up the vocal performance, at the very least, prevents everyone from hearing & fully feeling the overall effect of the performance given.
I have, tho, no problem with a vocal tutorial, per se..just, I think there is a huge difference between reaction & a teaching tutorial, & should b labelled as such. I realize this is only my feeling & that I speak only 4 myself.

I listen all her covers and with her smokey , raspy voice and her emotions when she sing, all covers are better than original songs. I just love her. Believe me, there is no other singer like her. Simon Cowell was correct in saying he had never heard this version before, because Angelina rewrote it for the performance. She took the words of the lyrics she wished to use and then rearranged them, and then rearranged the music, until she was sure that both truly reflected what she wanted to achieve in her performance. I found it hauntingly beautiful.

Excellent analysis! I love how you recognized the effect of her arrangement on eventual comparisons to the original. As a fan of hers, when I heard she was doing this song I was so worried about how it would be received because so few get good reviews for attempting it even if they do it perfect. Angelina managed to not just change the arrangement but showcase her talents and style without disrespecting the original. Amazing for one so young despite her years of experience.
That was a terrific analysis of what Angelina did to this iconic rock masterpiece. She now has made it her own. And when she becomes a superstar, which I believe she will, singers will cover the Angelina Jordan version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Compare that to what Eva Cassidy did to the Judy Garland version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", which has become the standard for that song. Her singing puts me on a roller coaster that produces tears and smiles and gives me an emotional workout. At such a young age, she reminds me of Amira Willinghagen. Amira was discovered on Holland's Got Talent in 2013 at the age of 9. Angelina and Amira do not sing the same type of songs. Amira is generally an opera soprano singing everywhere but in the U.S. I only mention both supreme talents because they are both a part of our musical present and future among the very best. We are blessed to have such voices to give us joy in our lives when times are tough and we are down and we need something to bring our spirits around. Sam Scott, you are also a talent. she has already grown so much from the earlier recordings of when she was 6 and 7. I worry about young talent cause the music industry is brutal and has wrecked many beautifully gifted artists. If all goes well she will become a superstar possibly bringing in a new genre where there's a fusion of old jazzy-blues with very contemporary.

There's hardly anything you can listen to by Angelina that won't astound you. Just make sure it's a recording with good sound quality; there are some from concerts and rehearsals that have bad sound. Other than that, you're guarantied a great musical experience. She has never been a "child singer", but instead a real artist that happens to be a child. It's truly remarkable. With her early work, it's enough to make people doubt their grasp of reality.

This genius 13yo (14 as of a few days ago) arranged this to nail a USA audience used to loudness, runs, high notes and theatrics, and she did it with spectaculer style. She is truly incredibly gifted. You are now going to enter the Angelina rabbithole; once you start looking at her volume of work (there's over 120 UA-cam videos) you will not be able to stop. She started singing at 1 1/2yo (YES!), blew them away at Norways Got Talent at 7 (8 in the final), has worked with Mark Ronson, Alan Walker and others, sung for an audience of 40,000 etc etc etc etc. She sang for Quincy Jones at his 85th birthday, he called her the greatest talent he had heard since Michael Jackson. it doesn't get better than that!

I've been in love with her voice since her talent show performance of "Fly me to the Moon" and then "Gloomy Sunday".

Sam, you are spot on. When I heard this the first (and 20th and 100th) time, my jaw just dropped. I hear Nora Jones and Amy Winehouse in there, but Angelina definitely has a style all her own. I am a 67 year old man, a former jazz musician and music teacher, and I cry every time I watch this. I hope she has managers who will have her best interests at heart and not just the money. After seeing this, I watched other videos of her on UA-cam. Some were outstanding, some were OK. A big concern I have is that they are over-sexualizing her. She's 14 years old, for God's sake. Let her be a teenager and allow her to grow into the superstar she is destined to be!

Think of it , she took a iconic classic rock opera & stripped it down & turned it into a jazzy/bluesy soulful ballad at age 13. Please support her music, CD's, iTunes, ect.. I still remember that I was shocked in a positive way, and I have ever since that time been a fan. A fan of a child. I wouldn't believed it if you had asked me 10 years ago.
I have never been interested in the jazz music genre , but Angelina's interpretations of old jazz music classics has "opened my eyes" for that kind of music for sure, and in a way "touched me".

For me, this is the best reaction video I have seen because you explained why we love her voice so much and you pointed out the complicated parts that I was taking for granted. Obviously I don't sing because I cant sing, but I love listening to it. The comment Mark Hansen gave is right, she is addictive!

I absolutely loved your little cerebral moment of explanation in the analysis near the end of your comments. It was spot on. That's exactly what she does, when she has a mind to. On the other hand, you mentioned Whitney Houston - she does a cover of 'I Have Nothing' in a tribute to Whitney that is just the way Whitney did it, except in her voice, and there's no problem with comparing her to the great Whitney Houston. In her home studio, just her and a backing track, at 12 years old. A one take joy to listen to.
Here's a bit of fun math for you. She's only 13 years old here. If you want to work your way backwards through her covers and originals on UA-cam at the rate of one new reaction per week, not counting any she'll be putting out in the future, starting tomorrow, you'll get to her opening audition on Norway's Got Talent in the summer of 2022. Starting at present and working back is one option... as someone very familiar with all 125 songs she has done in the last few years, I would highly recommend at least checking out her beginnings. At 7 years old she auditioned for Norways Got Talent singing a Billie Holiday song. I think it is an important performance to understand how deep the music runs in this girl. After you watch that one, you could go lots of directions with it. I think she just turned 13/14. She sang for Norway's Got Talent at age 7, and won the contest as soon as she turned 8. She is quite remarkable. Great range; great power. When you see her singing 'I put a Spell on you' at age 9, you will not believe it.
