I just talked to David today in Georgia. He is absolutly amazing. This man will do absolutly anything. He told us about his the hole he has in his heart. On the 31 he's going back to the doctor to see if the hole is gone. After surgery you're supposed to wait 6 months before you do anything straining. 2 months after his surgery he did a 250 mile bike race. He is amazing!
I watch this video everyday before each of my workouts, if this guy can do what he does, then I can do my workouts which are minor compared to his. I would say 80% of all athletes have no excuse to not workout when you try to level yourself to this man. Two years ago when I did my first marathon the last 4 miles were the hardest part, but I kept telling myself, if Goggins can run 135 miles in 130 degree weather (bad water event), then I can suck up 4 more miles.
More than this athletes physical capacity, his mental, moral and motivational strength are an inspiration to all athletes! "What can each of use achieve when we apply ourselves!"
He's a proper tough bloke. I have much admiration for this goggins....He's a pretty big inspiration to people trying to get through there own 150 miles whatever that is.
its true. There is no other feeling that compares with when you feel that you have surpassed the limits. I'm not in particulary good shape, but I know what he means. Like the time I was in the army, I was exhausted but I ended up pulling the pulk for six more hours and became the hero of the moment. That was great! I do regret thoug the time when I didn't "open the door" even though I had the key in my back pocket. When you reflect on a setback like that you really do feel ashamed.
APPROXIMATELY 14 YEARS AGO; LOOKING FOR WAYS TO SELF IMPROVE MYSELF, AND TYPING IN SOMETHING TO DO WITH ; NAVY SEALS, FORTITUDE AND MENTAL TOUGHNESS, I STUMBLED ACROSS A VIDEO AND FOUND (THIS ABSOLUTELY UNFCKINGBELIVEABLE, AMAZING, UNIQUE, INTERESTING, INSPIRATION, THAT IS "DAVID GOGGINS") AND HAVE BEEN EVEN MORE SO= IMPRESSED , MYSTIFIED, INSPIRED AND MOTIVATED BY HIM AND HIS ACTIONS, WORDS, MINDSET, MENTALITY AND HIS MESSAGE= NOW AS WHEN I WAS ALL THOSE YEARS AGO. THIS HUMAN MACHINE HAS BEEN GRINDING , LIVING AND PUSHING HIMSELF ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT IS HUMANLY POSSIBLE EVERY MIN OF EACH DAY FOR WELL OVER 20 YEARS WHAT A LEGEND AND THE MOST MENTALLY TOUGH, DISCIPLINED, CONSISTENT MAN ALIVE.
"in a sport like this, everybody wins.... suffering like everybody has to...just crossing the finishline - you win" "you have a decision to make - should I open it? if you keep it closed you made a decision to quit...I always open that door". I am preparing for my first Ironman and I watch this video a few times a week to get some motivation. Thank you Goggins. Best regards from Hungary, Europe.
@alexproboi running gives u dicipline, health, well being, a great insight in psychology, stress-revilement and an unbelievably strong mind. As u can see, this guy is smarter and greater than almost anyone u will ever meet walking around. A true inspiration.
Such and inspiration. I increase my running mileage every week because of him. It's amazing all that he accomplished before he found out about the hole in his heart (he's since had surgery).
David You're Awesome Man. Keep it up, People are rally starting to understand why it is that we do IronMan and Ultra Marathons. It's about becoming all you can be. Thanks out to the L/Studios as well for making this movie possible!
I used to live this life, and this mind-set is powerful within the human body: unfortunately I almost died, and had to stop. I have never been able to go back, but maybe from the words of this one man I can go back without going "too far."
david goggins is the most inspirational person in extreme endurance sports...not because of how successful he is but because he actually makes an effort to inspire others to be better
Ran a miserable 10 mile today. I've ran farther, felt better, but today I had nothing in the tank the whole time. I hope that wasn't 40% talking!! Marathon coming up
Wow. Awesome. I paced him for a 10 mile loop during that race. Guy was an absolute animal. He kept yelling at me to keep up, and he was over 100 miles in. Haha.
why sit on pc and look at videos like that and comment bad about people like them ?? what does it give u in life really?u feel that people like him are stupid doing this?? the reality my friend is that people like you who do nothing in their lives to change them or achieve goals like that or get over their own limits are going to be miserable... this man is a true insipiration for all of us, and i understand by this video that there are no limits in life, set this to your mind and you will fly!
Awesome video. The man is unstoppable. The same motivational stuff he's talking about "not quitting" and pushing yourself...that's what I tell myself b/w 3-5 miles and my legs are burning. lol This guy is knocking out 150 miles and doing jumping jacks at the finish line!
Reminds me of the NPR piece about a woman who had a section of her temporal lobe removed due to seizures - it stopped the seizures, and then she started running. Double marathons o start, then centuries, then double centuries...days and days. The surgery removed the part of her brain that kept track of time, but also her ability to read maps. She would leave a marker at splits in the road, continue a few hours, then return if it was wrong. She is first place constantly...but not a SEAL.
This man is amazing! He trains very hard to be able to do this kind of thing. and even better he does it for a good cause. What could be ethically wrong with pushing the limits of the human body.
@TeamCarnage I slowly started to eat less and less because I was not aware of the right foods to eat to keep up my endurance. For 2 years I dealt with doctors telling me that I was anorexic, but the real issue was that I was just overly compulsive about fitness. I loved the felling of running, and biking, so much. It was an accomplishment in my eyes and I was proud of it. I have the weight back that I lost and am now "healthy" but I have struggled with finding a balance with life that I
He is a full time navy seal... Which mind you is probably one of the more time consuming, physically and mentally occupying jobs you can have. Only reason he has time is because he gets up earlier and goes to bed later then the rest.
32 is not bad for a resting pulse, the lowest I achieved was 28, and could achieve 1 during meditation. Biking and running is the way to do it. Keep on rocking the trails, dude.
This is why the SEALS say 90% of the pain you feel is mental. You deal with that, you can deal with anything. The body will go where the mind leads it. They didnt create that, they observed it in every one of the men who make it through that program. You can do ANYTHING, but the question is: do you want it enough? It has always been and always forever will be a choice YOU make. :D I loved this video, it spoke my view on life.
@JoeyDukey I asked him that exact question. He basically said building up your mileage slowly and gradually is the key, and that your body will eventually get used to it. With that said, he didn't do this in his early ultra days and thus got shin splints, stress fractures, etc, and had to take some time off from running at one point. Straight from the man's mouth. Let it be known that he ran 5 100 mile races on back-to-back wknds, if my memory serves me correctly.
David Goggins died yesterday. Apparently, he was injured on Tuesday in Afghanistan (?) and succombed to his injuries yesterday. Another hero is lost. RIP, good sir.
He has lost a super amount of weight since he first started and I left a comment on another vid saying he is to top heavy and could be quicker if he lost upper body weight and what do you know, he has and I bet he is faster now. His cross training is out of this world to and with the Seal's to.. man... I dont know how he is not super tired or dead. Great Vid. 5 Stars.
I find this amazing that people can do this kind of thing not just physicaly but mind set because the physical challenage isn't the hardest it the mind set because if you don't have the mind set you can't do anything.
that's awesome, he should definitely try now the "Patagonian Expedition Race", I believe it's about 312.5 miles between mountain biking, trailless trekking and river/sea kayaking.
High-intensity 30 min workout to target increased HR, which increases Fat metabolism. Some trainers claim that it specifically targets an increased metabolism for two days. My suggestion is to do high-intense for first 50% of your workout then moderate for the remaining. And a good diet is helpful for your energy requirements.
I had always wondered about running a marathon and after watching this video, it gave me the inspiration and courage to run my first one before I turned 20.
BIGpurple121: There is always gonna be haters. Haters that dont believe in anything out of the ordenary. U only think so cause u dont believe in urself, fix ur mindset. With and attitude like that u wont get far in life. Nothing is impossible. The body adapts so much more then we even know, it adapts to all kinds of elemental sercemstances we throw at it.
@LAWG4 Strength isn't about having the perfect circumstances to achieve it. It's about overcoming your own circumstances. Nothing worth doing is easy, and strengthening yourself is fucking hard. Some people just don't have the mental/emotional capacity to push themselves.
@ReggyRay289 No problem :D Stairstepping your way back up to better health is the safest method of ensuring long term well being. Dont go balls to the wall instantly, start small, work up to the big stuff, thats what Goggins did. That P90X is also a good method to build up from of as well. Dont be shy about your weight in the gym either, remember lots of us bulky guys are in there every day too working off the extra stuff.
Wow... this brings back memories. I finished the 100 mile on this course twice, and failed once but never nearly as fast as this guy. I've seen him out there; he is an animal.
Endurance (also called sufferance) is the ability for an animal to exert itself for a long period of time. In humans, it is usually used in aerobic or anaerobic exercise. The definition of 'long' varies according to the type of exertion - minutes for high intensity anaerobic exercise, hours or days for low intensity. Training for endurance can have a negative impact on the ability to exert strength unless an individual also undertakes resistance training to counteract this effect.[1]
he had detailed his schedule awhile back, made a list of everything he did from the time he woke up till the time he went to sleep; you can probably find it on the web somewhere. said he slept at 11:30 and woke up at 2:30 that day, and most of his days were the same thing.
@alexproboi "Why do you climb Mount Everest?" George Mallory replies " Because it is there." Some things in life are simply about the challenge. If someone cannot comprehend this, I pity them.
I could listen to David talk all day.
Same here brother 😊

Intelligent, hyper-athletic, articulate, and aware. Completely down-to-earth.
Talk about a role model.
The more that I learn about David the more that I like him and his attitude.
I love this guy. Show no weakness. I live by that every day.

"When you think you're done you're probably at about 40% of what you're capable of"
What an amazing inspiration to all people who are, and wanna be, out there making a differerence. Simply amazing.
this is very inspirational
I like his analogy on opening doors etc, very interesting

Like many spec operators this is a man that has total control over body, mind and spirit. His mind has no off switch it’s all or nothing.
I used to live this life, and this mind-set is powerful within the human body: unfortunately I almost died, and had to stop. I have never been able to go back, but maybe from the words of this one man I can go back without going "too far."

thats why I love long distance runing. You can just cruise at a really slow mile time and still compete against the best.
15 lazy dungeon masters rolled an odd number and did not open the door, and were thus slayed by the mighty wall.
Glad he is on our side!
"i have to experience life and that's how i experience life." so god damn inspiring
