Amazon sells these lights and includes the trim pieces to fit- the screw into the bottom of the lights for a snug fit and look seamless- I installed mine about a month ago and they work great
Thanks for the video. I think the new ones may be too fancy for a 14 year old version of the LX but they look nice. I'm gonna stay stock. I did put some 1 inch wheel spacers on this week and I like the look.
Hi Ed, I've got a tripod for my cameras but don't always use it. It just depends on what I'm filming. I usually need to get in close to show what I'm doing. Thanks for watching, really appreciate it 👊🏻
Have someone go in the driver's seat, put the GX in reverse, and then you can use a multi meter or 12v power probe to see if your getting power. If you're getting power then it's just burnt out bulbs, if no power then there could be a burnt fuse or a cut in the wiring.
Hi, i heard after installing that tire carrier on the back door since the door is not that strong after months or a year around the bracket start to cracking. Since you have installed for a while could u please give an update. Thanks
Nice install video my Friend ! Just that lights for Prado 150 not for GX - that why its not plug and play and gaps on the bottom . But you did good job to adapt it to lexus and for me is pretty clean final result .
I installed these same lights and the turn signals work sequentially but once i installed both lights the starting animation no longer played when I unlocked the car
When you say "both" lights do you mean you wired up the reverse lights? My start-up animation is still working after all this time, I never wired up the reverse lights.
I was wondering as I tested it again today outside of the garage it seemed to only do the blinker part. Does the main dance only activate if it’s in a darker area or nighttime that seems to be what the case is with mine
I have a Prado in my home in Spain. In my Cabin in Alaska I have a GX 460 love them both. Question, I just ordered them from Amazon for my GX 460 and will be arriving soon. When you say plug and play, Can I remove my old ones and simply connect and install the new ones? I too will ignore the reverse light and will keep my stock bumper ones running. Will this be an issue, or when I plug them in, since there simply is no power to that wire, for the reverse, thats OK?
Yes, no problem by not connecting the reverse lights. Mine were not 100% plug n play, had to switch the connectors but I hear the are plug n play now when you buy them on Amazon.
Thank you, much appreciated! To answer your question Yes I am for sure taking it off road and on the trails, I've just been getting it ready for off-roading and wanted to make sure it was equipped with the minimum essentials (not all) I felt comfortable with to take it on the trails. So I'll be on the trails very soon. Thanks for watching and stay tuned 😎👊🏻
That seems like a pain. I bought them off Amazon and they came as plug n play, with additional trim. I connected the reverse wires by splicing and works like a charm! You should totally do it, it’s worth it
I don't know, the reverse lights look a little weak/small in these new lamps. I just installed some very bright LED bulbs in the original reverse lamps and super bright now when reversing. Yes I know it's a pain but when you're the first one to try something you're the the guinea pig, so that's how it was for me. Trust me if those were available when I did my tail lights I would've gone with the plug n play as well. At least I'm proud to say I was the first (that I know of) with these tail lights 😎
@@DIYSpeedGarage in terms of brightness, yea the OEs are brighter. I feel that since these are tinted, it makes it a tad bit darker. I'm coming from NO reverse lights to having some now, so a world of difference to me LOL

hey Sami, question about the other video but related to this one, I wonder if you know if the door hinge/ door check of the barn door is built the same way as the Prado, i.e. if this door can actually bear the weight of a spare tire and its carrier rack (looks like it obviously can and many people added spare, but just want to know the technical figures), thanks!!
Hi EJ, the easiest way to verify if the parts are the same is to go to the following website and looking up the part numbers for a Prado: www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs After you have the parts numbers go to a Lexus parts website and look up the parts for the GX460, if they match then you have your answer. Keep in mind there is a version of the Prado that doesn't have the spare tire on the cargo door, so don't look up the parts for that one by mistake. Good luck
@@DIYSpeedGarage well, they are indeed of the same part number families, 68810, 67005 (rear door body), funny thing is that the J120 - the one with tire, has a door body of a different shape due to the recessed tire mount, but the part # is still the same 67005. Importantly, the hinge assemblies are the same numbers
Thanks! I didn't connect it because I already have reverse lights in my bumper, plus I didn't feel like running wires from the bumper reverse lights up to the tail lights. Thanks for watching 😎
Nice Mod bro~ quick question, how's that JW tire carrier holding up since installation? do you do a lot of off roading? I want to get one but, i read some reviews that kept saying the tire carrier put a lot of stress to the metal sheet on the door... do you have any of those problems?
@@DIYSpeedGarage how is it holding so far? Does the door needs to be strengthened? How is it on crazy trails? I'm afraid it'll shred off the door and/or it's not stable enough.
No it’s fine, no issues so far. The carrier comes with metal plates which are installed on the inside of the panel so it's not just relying on the door skin itself.
@@DIYSpeedGarage Would you still buy the same from same seller despite that gap or you found other ones that are better without needing the old one's piece to cover that gap?
Yes they are still doing great. Some sellers have started selling these with the gap fillers, I think I added a link in the description for those as well.
Hi Fred, honestly I have no idea. All I can tell you is this: in the rest of the world the Lexus GX is a Toyota Landcruiser Prado and most of them have a spare tire/wheel in the cargo door. I’ve looked into the hinges and the part numbers for the Prado with spare in the door are the same as the ones without the spare on the door. So this leads me to believe that the GX cargo door is perfectly fine for carrying a spare, maybe not a 35” or 37” tire since that’s very heavy but easily a 30-33” tire. I hope this somewhat helps with your question. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!
@@DIYSpeedGarage I appreciate it! I was actually looking at the first set you've linked in this video. I'll probably go with those. I'm just debating if it would be beneficial to get them wrapped in clear vinyl for added protection.
I mean yes, it would help protect them for sure. Clear film would be beneficial to protect any part of your GX, especially the front end including the headlights. Go for it 👊🏼
No it's not rubber, it's a plastic material. No it's not watertight unless you use silicone or something. It's also not watertight with the original lamp.

Yes I've noticed they offered them with the trims included. When I did mine they didn't have included trims.
Can you share the link , I’m trying to find these lights including the trim pieces

Hey brotha. Good video. This helped me. However my reserve lights stopped working on the bumper.. any ideas on why?
Both sides?
Correct. Both sides.
Did you check to see if you're still getting power to the connectors that the reverse bulbs plug in?
I will have to try that next.

No issues so far, obviously the hatch door is much harder to open/close because of the extra weight. I don't mind. No complaints so far.
