I am having a Turp on Monday and i am very anxious at the moment.Thank you very much for uploading your experiance it has made me feel a lot better, Thanks again.
I can relate as I was anxious while at the same time I knew I needed the surgery. I've recovered well and am enjoying life as I used too before BPH. Wishing you a good outcome and quick recovery
I had the turp operation nearly 3 years ago at HRI, i had the spinal anaesthetic, & chose to have it without sedation. I could listern to my radio & speak to all the theatre staff throughout the procedure, later on i had my dinner & i was out of hospital the next day, like others said the catheters removal is the worst part, after 4 weeks i was totally fine all good so far.... Originally i wanted the general anaesthetic, but i was very lucky to see & take the consultant anesthetist recomendations. It certainly made for me a much faster recovery.....
That's interesting that you given the option of staying awake during the TURP. Sounds like you had a good recovery too. I had a lot of trouble with UTIs, pain and bleeding leading up to the op that I think complicated things. Shows how different the same process can be for each man
Good job telling people what to look forward to when getting the TURP. I had it done back in 2022,wind up loosing my bladder and prostate do to a 5cm.size tumor, doctors suggested best case scenario would be TURP to chemo then surgery.I wouldn't ever want to go through that ever again, which I won't have to anyway..
Thanks. Sorry to hear about your tumor and the surgery required. Just having BPH, TURP and all the things that come with that was a experience I really don't want to ever re-experience again. I can understand your feelings about the surgery and living with the results
Thanks, I'm facing TURPs in the very near future, the idea terrifies me, but your vid was rather reassuring of the process, and happy to hear you talk about what pain levels you experienced. I have no option but get this surgery unfortunately.
I can relate to being terrified but I was in such a bad state I really had to do something. Now it's done and I am almost completely healed up it's like I am back to normal before this dark period (BPH) of my life began. Wishing you a good outcome on your future TURP
I was exactly where you are, holding off for many years. I had a Urolift which was very painful for me. That said I finally had the TURP, July 10 and there was very little pain. It was mild. So I am into week 3 1/2 now, and It gets a tiny bit better each day. But, the pain level was much less than I anticipated.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm on the "urgent" turp waiting list here in the UK. Catheterised and having terrible pain with bladder spams. Short on info but feel better informed thanks to you.
I know how painful the whole living with catheters can be. It is something I never want to repeat so I watch my diet and health. I do hope you can hang in there while your waiting for your TURP.
The only pain I had after mine was removing that monster catheter. The nurse I had was great she warned me the catheter being put in at the end of a surgery may have scabbed to the surrounding tissue ( it did) and it tore that scab off when it was removed. when she went to remove it she hesitated and said “I’ve never seen one that big before”, I said thanks. She responded with “the catheter, wise guy”. Great sense of humor. Mine was done at Eisenhower hospital in Palm Desert Ca. they are awesome.
Seems like there are so many ways to have compilations. Normally the scab breaks of the prostrate around the 7 to 10 day mark and comes out in the urine. Did they leave the catheter in and send you home?
I am not sure if HoLEP is better or not as I've only had the TURP. However they say that If you'd like to return to your daily routines in the shortest time possible, then HoLEP may be a suitable option. TURP, on the other hand, brings the fewest risks and complications and is often used to treat issues brought on by the other treatment options.
Thanks for the feedback. I hope the video was of some use. There is a follow up video of the recovery at the 10 weeks mark ua-cam.com/video/L-KvgHerE9Y/v-deo.html
Thanks for the interest. I've compiled the content for follow up video given enough time has passed for my TURP to finally settle down. Will try and get it out on the weekend
I did TURP.. lasted 2 years, now i have to go back in, and my turp was horrendous and painful, a very bad experience for me. Then he wanted to do REZUM on me in the office. I elected out on that! I am now looking at HOLEP. Please do all your research for all procedures. Do not hang your hat on TURP. That is old technology. And check your doctor on what procedures he knows. If it only 1 or 2, rethink your doctor, no matter how nice he is.
Sorry to hear that more surgery is required. I did a second video explaining my trails after surgery which was quite testing. I think your advice to look at all the options is good. I looked into Urolift 2 among others as well tho it's hard to tell what method is the best. I did talk to as many guys as I could to get their first hand experience to help me decide. ua-cam.com/video/L-KvgHerE9Y/v-deo.html
The nurses instructed me before the operation that I would have to organize a ride home and to not drive. I could have driven home but I think it is good advise as I was very sore and any driving would have been not very safe. I would have caused even more bleeding and pain. Moving the steering wheel hurt later when I tried driving
And here I was thinking my prostate was big 80 cc. If it's over 100 cc or has a unusual shape you my have to go for the other surgery alternatives. I found I could not take the Alpha blockers they put you on before surgery due to bad side affects so I do hope you find a way forward and find relief soon.
Excellent video. I'll be having the TURP procedure the end of February, and your video alleviated a lot of my anxiety. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the comment. End of Feb!... I see they are making you wait just as I had to. All the best for your surgery

@@ivonvoid the nurse took it out on the second morning and then sent me home. I had TURP because my Prostate was to large for HIFU to treat my PC.
I am going in for this surgery on Friday hope mine turns out like yours Best of luck for the future
Hope all goes well for you. My post op recovery is taking longer than expected but I am still very happy with the results.
How did it go?
Thank you so very much for this video. 🎉
Thanks.. I am very happy to receive the encouragement all the best on your journey if you get the TURP

By the way, I think we both live in the same city and may share a mutual friend called David Snell
@@ivonvoid I live in US (Pennsylvania) and it seems to me that you are in Australia, correct?
Yes you are correct. In that case you have someone with the same name living in my city. ;)
Hope we get a follow up video, hope all is going well.

Uro lift !
Thanks for sharing. Why couldn't you drive home yourself after 2 nights of hospital stay?

@@ivonvoid Thanks. Really appreciate for the prompt reply.
I was told I couldn't have a TURP because my prostate is too big.

Wispering ?
My voice was pretty horse after the operation. Hope you can still hear ok
It's prostate not prostrate but a good vid
Good video but it’s a prostate not a prostrate.
Indeed it is. I hadn't noticed I was pronouncing it incorrectly until a few days after uploading.
