I think its Happ that you deal; still high enough value to get a really good return, lowers your cap more to get a star(FA or trade), and clears a valuable LF spot for the young talent. Also Happ was nearly useless when they needed him in May and June, but built back enough that other teams will be interested. He's starting to and will age soon; the GG fielding value will go soon as the baserunning has already started. If you can trade Taillon and if Bellinger opts out, you've got some great star money to spend.
PCA might be the superstar if we can’t get one. Only superstar, not star, we have 5 of those at least. Pay someone 30m/yr or 40, 50, but not buy someone 20,25,15 . We got enough those players on the team.
A superstar in baseball is someone who has been a top 15 player in the league who sustainable time. PCA is a nice piece to have around. I am so happy for his development
Right , they are still paying a lot for previous debt, so stop pushing them to make more bad moves to sign bigger names! Let the rebuilding and young players progress ! Don not push them to go all in throwing more money into making playoffs next year! Just sign one big name hitter and 1-2 big bullpen arm and one veteran catcher, that’s it. That would be cost them from 40-80m which they can and stay under tax. They should be a wild card team, but just don’t ask them to go all in!!!! Then it will ruin the whole rebuilding at the last stage and become retooling the next 10 years! Yes, I would trade for Vlad with Busch. I only want superstar, they have too may borderline stars.
The best decision in the last 50 years for the Cubs is to blew up that team and trade everyone for total rebuilding! Well, maybe someone don’t agree with that and still trying to make their point by keep messing with this rebuilding and see it fail and come back to say: see … they never should do that rebuilding!!! I hope I am just catch wind and shadow here 😂😂😂
Cubs blew their games against the Rockies, and we will sit on the same couch this offseason. 1 team is paying 233 plus 46 m in L-tax for a finished cushion; the other one is getting a cushion that isn't fully made yet.
It doesn’t matter what they do. They aren’t getting a superstar. It will be the same team next year and they will underachieve. Then Jed will be fired and we are back to rebuilding again. That is a fact. Worst case scenario is they somehow win a wild card and everyone stays. This team needs to be torn down to the studs yet again.
Cubs gotta win ten games in a row to have a serious chance, not likely but it can be done.If they pull that off and the Mets and Braves have a tougher schedule and they stumble then Cubs can do it.Not likely but not impossible.
I dont trade Hoener for nothing. I would trade Bush and the corner outfielders are the problem we dont get enough production from them. I would trade Susuki or Happ. Shaw can play a corner outfield. Also, third baseman they got not the answer will see
Man, that dude on the left poops, pees, eats, washes, cooks, preps, dreams of Cubs. Of course, his excuse he's a reporter. I bet all his cups and plates are all cubs. His room littered with all kinds of Cubs Nostalgia. Couple of signed jerseys and such. Meanwhile, a woman sits alone.
I see Gordon is one of those Shohei Ohtani haters. The only way to fix this is the Cubs have to be willing to be aggressive and upgrade at a position on offense. 2nd base, move Seyia to DH. Not going happen go get Soto and put him right field. But unfortunately I 100% agree with Gordon the worst thing that happen for this team was this false hope run. Jed is not going do nothing of significance. He speaking facts the Cubs need a superstar until they get that player we will see the same thing
They were playoff bound on 23 and failed. This year has been a catastrophe and 25 looks as bad. We're going to celebrate 2016 for a long time just like the 85 Bears
Trade Nico ...I'm still feeling pretty damn good about Matt Shaw. Look into acquiring Vladimir Guerrero Jr. And Anthony Santander ...those are my 3 big hitting changes...the pitching side? Corbin Burnes and maybe MAYBE one more. If Jed roles this put again he's done...I don't think he roles this out again
Each yr from '21 Vlad had declining power numbers. This yr he got better. But those back to back to back declining power numbers worries me a lot! I'd rather stick with Busch at 1B and let DH be rotating the outfielders mostly with Caissie and Alcantara coming up with the inevitable injuries.
Tom ricketts need stop. sign minor league deal players so embarrassing go sign real big mlb level players like superstars juan soto just wants cubs be winning team next year 2025
Gordon’s takes are so bad. Nico Hoerner is a 12 mil a yr dandy little glove man .260. 5 hr hitter. Who cares he sucks so much ass. If you can get Dustin May from LA for him would be most excellent. Shaw and triantos bats outweigh Nico’s grove.
I agree with Gordon. Playing in the field should matter.
No way Bellinger opts out!
nontender wisdom and mastrobouni
Need to bring up young guys to let them get a taste of the majors.
The Scrubs are in good hands with Counsel. You all have nothing to worry about.

Happ has a no trade clause

@@michaeld.lancaster4953 of course not now, but he could be in 3 years

Kap I love you and Gordon!!!! Always great insights!!! Would love to have a beer with you guys!!!
I would by kap a Stag
I definitely enjoyed this podcast episode
I still think Cubs need a 3rd baseman.
@kevinbecker1438 The 3rd basemen in free agency are going to cost money. I doubt the Cubs will sign a 3rd baseman this offseason.
@@thechild7355 I think they should bring up Cam Smith. No money there
@@kevinbecker1438 I wouldn't put all my faith in a prospect next year unless Paredes gets injured.

Hey kap you better get a new owl that was some bullpen Friday 13
The title here reminds me: I’d like to see some rekaps in the offseason of classic Chicago sports games
He does ReKaps of the Cubs about once a month or whenever they make news in the offseason
Cubs gotta win ten games in a row to have a serious chance, not likely but it can be done.If they pull that off and the Mets and Braves have a tougher schedule and they stumble then Cubs can do it.Not likely but not impossible.
Naw man it's ova!!!!
@Mannyr-bu7qv Now I agree with you but a few years ago the Rockies won something like 22 out of 23 to get in so it can happen but very very unlikely
Shaw is a step below Hoerner defensively but is 2 to 3 steps ahead.
Just more reasons Hoyer contract won't be renewed after the 2025 season.
Rickettes needs to hire a PJ Pelletier as PBO going forward.
I dont trade Hoener for nothing. I would trade Bush and the corner outfielders are the problem we dont get enough production from them. I would trade Susuki or Happ. Shaw can play a corner outfield. Also, third baseman they got not the answer will see
Porter hodge. Are you related kap????
Win out Cubs!
Cubs will sign him
No we collapsed in 2021...we were a 2020 playoff team because of a short schedule
Nothing personal
Cubs will probably DFA 8 or 9 guys in 2025cubs will be closer to last place than first place
If the Mets make the playoffs, Lindor was more valuable.
Agree Nico needs to stay for it's nice to have a player that doesn't strikeout 3-4 times game.
Gordo does a lot of ifs.
Gordo is right on everything he has said though.
@patricklee4316 not always.

He is correct about Ohtani, he only hits. Look at all the years David Ortiz was great but not seriously considered for mvp due to just being a dh.
Gordo who os the DBacks superstar?
Corbin Carrol?
@Heavymetalpunk and he was not a superstar when they one the WS and he rookie. Also it kinda disprove his point about prospects
Cubs need to go big next year or go home . Need a closer, another big bat supplement Belli , Seya .
will alzolay be nontendered
Loool I don’t think these two like each other
Cubs aren't serious about winning, very Sad. Ticket prices go up and talent goes down and the fans keep funding the failure
This is nothing more than a .500 team. Does Bellinger want out? Shut down Steele at this point.
If Cody opts out Cassie is your RF Suzuki DH trade Nico for a quality starter and Matt Shaw at 2B
Cody opting out seems like a stretch. And Nico is untouchable. Gotta build on this foundation
Kyle hendricks wont be back
I don't think you are alive anymore
Keep him
Are going stop trading good players
Cubs offense at home isn't hitting
The only way young guys get ready to play in the mlb is to play in the mlb. The minors just are not what they were
Please don't rebuild. Rebuilding stinks!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 great player Nico hoerner he is not great player just move him
Time he is joke too
Kaplan don't not listen to him Nico Hoerner need to be trade next year
Michael Busch is not star and also Nico Hoerner he is not star too them both need be trade next year too
Just trade Nico Hoerner
Cam

First, fire counsell, he's the worst
