    Maybe a silly question… is it safe to connect the shunt directly to the negative battery terminal?? I have never seen anyone do that before, always a short connecting cable in between, but I sure would like to set mine up this way if there are no negative repercussions.

    My question: when do you tell it batteries 100%?
    When at 14.2v?
    When it settles back down to 13.6?
    And how would I set up a system to only drop to 20% SOD and only charge to 80% SOD?
    Do I need to DIY with a customisable BMS?

    So Jerky in the comments below identified a setting that may help out a lot of people who buy this. Apparently if the voltage drops below a certain level the Guage resets to zero. As you are able to choose the voltage it is possible to set it to a value low enough to prevent this. I have had this problem so it is helpful to me but I'm not sure if this is the approved method.

    I don't want to bring negativity to this Battery Monitor, however...Don't be in a hurry to get it. I ordered mine from amazon very early this month(April) and don't expect delivery till mid to late June! I start to get upset from time to time, than I remember the $$$ difference when compared to similar models

    To set it up properly you need to set Ah of your battery and when it's full set 100%.
    Do you need to set 0% when discharge to 10.5V ??? How it's know when is 0% safe to the battery ???

      If you've got multiple batteries in parallel you should be taking your positive off the battery at one end of the chain and the negative off the battery at the other end. The shunt goes between the battery negative and everything else that has a return line to the battery.

    if you would change the scrolling text color so that it perfectly matched the background and increase the scroll rate by say, a factor of two, then the set-up instructions would be completely unreadable instead of only being extremely difficult to read.

    Good video thx. I just installed mine, also calibrated it as you suggest, but question: when everything is turned off in my camper the amp meter shows a slight positive. 0.02 amps coming in. Of course it’s not true. Does this reflect that I calibrated capacity or percentage wrong? Thx! Scott

    • @kukomio
      @kukomio  4 роки тому +1

      capacity setting(Ah):
      Under capacity display, press the“ A/Ah ”key for 3s to enter capacity setting. The set bit flicker, click the“ < ”or“ > ”key to plus and minus the value, then press the“A/Ah ”key to complete setting.
      Capacity reset (%):if replace the battery - the percentage and capacity are not the actual value,you should reset the capacity:discharge the battery totally and hold the“ V/< ”key for 3 seconds to set the capacity zero or charge the battery fully and hold the“ %/> ”key for 3 seconds to set the capacity full.

    PLEASE HELP!!!!! I have a problem with mine... I have the 350 amp version. Have it hooked to 2 - 6 volt 235ah VMax batteries, so 12 volt 235ah. Works fine until I turn on my 2000 watt inverter & use my microwave. It pulls just over 100 amps. Only use it for less than a minute, 2 max. After I'm done & shut off the inverter, my gauge reads 0ah & 0% capacity. I have the gauge set to 235ah. I think it is a faulty gauge. Does it every single time.....any ideas? Thx

      Hi,
      firstly see if you have connected the sampler (in and out) correctly.
      If it is correct, try resetting the capacity and setting again.

      @@kukomio I figured it out. Hopefully this will help someone else as well. If you press the voltage button then press the set button for 3 seconds the voltage from the factory is set to 0. You can adjust it up & down then press set again to store a different value. I had mine set to 12.5 volts. I turned it back down as low as it would go & saved that value. Works perfectly now. If you set the voltage higher say 12.5, then the ah & percentage reading will be reset to 0 and the back-lighting will turn off if the voltage drops below the value you set. Hope this helps someone else.👍

      If your battery is loading or discharging the voltage doesn't say anything about its capacity. In order for a good capacity reading the battery has to be in steady state for about a half hour and when does that ever happen in a motorhome or a boat that's in use ?
