This was an excellent show. VERY informative.
Well said Coach regarding Kapanen! As you know I live in Scotland, since Habs won the Cup in '93. In my opinion too many so-called pundits (?) in North America underrate Kapanen. Everyone is rightfully excited about Demidov however other European prospects seem to be overlooked.
I have seen Kapanen play at least 20 times and IMO he is at the very least a 3C. He plays a complete 2-way game and has pedigree like the Tkachuk brothers and Iginla. Time will tell if he or Beck is the better player.
I think that once Hage is NHL ready Dach will move to the wing. Therefore Habs centres could very well be Suzuki, Hage, Kapanen and Beck with other centres like Dach and Newhook (?) playing on the wing which would make Habs exceptionally strong.
Lastly, Volokhin played on the same team as Demidov and tore up the MHL so don't forget about him. He possibly could be a 1A or 1B. That would be an incredible tandem with Fowler. As you know Russian goalies have been excelling in the NHL.
Very fun exercise indeed!
Using your list this is my take off the top of my head.

Some mascots get a ring. The Hawks gave their mascot a ring when they won the cup in 2010. But they are usually lower grade rings.
hmm i think i already watched this.
aw well ill watch it again
Awesome.. Have a great labor day weekend.
People are always throwing around numbers while not mentioning plus minus.
I rather see Slafkovsky get 10 goals and a plus 15 than 30 and a minus 15. because the goal is WINNING hockey NOT individual numbers.
This is a VERY common trend with modern hockey players because scoring gets you fame and money being a Mike Keane only gets noticed by some the more knowledgeable people but does not net you the big contract.
The msot amazing season in the past 30 years was NOT the Price run to the finals it was the amazing comeback by Halak getting a bad habs team into the playoffs THEN knocking off two great teams they should have never beat.
A VERY notable player that playoffs was Hal Gil he shut down scorers like Crosby drove him crazy it wasn't about big scoring numbers it was about playing with HEART playing for the TEAM.
@@galkanftw Thanks for your comment… First of all Suzuki was on the ice during the empty net goal against… 12 times that give him minus 12. Is he a bad player? A player got a plus in the ice without touching the puck and only 4 seconds on the ice… that’s make a good player? My point minus and plus don’t evaluate a player overall. Ovechkin score 54 goals with minus 48… is he a bad player? If Halak was so good why he never win more series in the playoffs with the Blues and Islanders all the way to a third round playoffs like Price did at the Stanley cup Final? Why Halak never win the Hart trophy and Gill win the Norris trophy? If Slafkovsky play on first line with 10 goals and plus 25 the team don’t win many games…
@@HockeyNationLiveShowWell explained. Nothing to add. Go Habs Go ❤
@@HockeyNationLiveShow I agree 100% coach! Matheson was on the ice for 13 empty net goals which inflated his +/-. Analytics must be analyzed correctly not just looking at the black and white of the numbers.
2:10:00 I wish the Habs had picked Justin Poirier in 2024. I think he could become better than Joshua Roy.
No way Montreal has enough small players. They are building a Stanley cup winning team not individual regular season stats.
No comment ? (First)

Are you serious what about trying to make Xhekaj the best he can be , he will surprise you guys just shake your heads to get real
Why would the Habs not be interested in developing Xhekaj just like anybody else? We are debating the younger defenders on whether they'll be on team or in Laval. Xhekaj has paid his dues in Laval already.
Where is New Jersey?
IMO NJ is in the playoffs this year so the Habs have to pass TWO other teams .
Cozens will bounce back he is REALLY good.
back to the habs secodn line Dach could be a quality player I am ok with him Laine NO he plays like a loser and Newhook imop is just not a smart player.
I feel like Newhook has given a lot of people hope because he LOOKS good but so did Drouin you have to actually play with smarts because skills alone can work at the junior level NOT in the NHL.
NJ was a given as a playoff team in our eyes if healthy of course. Also the more difficult division is the Atlantic and that is why I surmised that 5 teams would have to come out of this group if Montreal was any kind of wildcard to make a wildcard spot. Given that Florida, Toronto, and TB would likely occupy 3 of those 5 spots leaving Boston, Buffalo, Detroit, Ottawa and Montreal in quite the battle for the last 2 spots.
