I sang rock-a-bye to my baby brother when he was a babe I eventually got bored of the more common ones so I went to one's in different languages like Russian because I thought it had a nice soothing tune and both he and I had enjoyed it and I eventually began to sing it to him when we went for walks. The only one I could recognize was rock-a-bye baby, but I don’t think my parents every sang it to me. My dad would do his own lullaby basically he just says it’s okay over and over and over then says papa is here. I still remember this and it makes me happy to hear it ❤😊

I don’t know most of these, but I remember back in the 1980’s when I was a kid, the horrifying lyrics to a lullaby would make me bust up laughing at first because my mom would exaggerate her voice and face when singing the bad stuff. One time I asked her semi-seriously yet giggling, “Mom, I’m supposed to be able to sleep now?!” She would tell me they made the lyrics bad as a joke so that I’d laugh, be happy, and have no nightmares. It worked too! She made it a funny joke between us, and it worked! 😁💜🌷
As a Trinidadian, 4 year old me was freaking terrified of “Soucoyant” so whenever my grandma would sing that to me… yeah you can guess who ain’t sleeping tonight💀 Anyway… LOVE THE VID JESS💜

6:36 : Alright you guys, Im from Costa Rica and my mom would sing me this song when I was little. I had no idea what it meant, I just went along with it and I forgot about the song until Jessii mentioned it in this video and now I know what it means...
WHAT KIND OF SICK PARENTS WOULD THINK THAT TELLING THEIR CHILD THAT IF THEY DON’T SLEEP SOME KIND OF CREATURE WOULD EAT THEM HELPS TO MAKE THEIR CHILDREN SLEEP 😭😭😭
I was sung to "Rock-a-by-baby" and as I got quite a bit older, I was thinking about that last verse. I was bothered by a prayer for children, "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep". The phrase "If I die before I wake" really got to me.
My family is russian so often didnt sing those when I was a kid, they sign a Russian lullaby and it put me to sleep easily, I know what it means and it’s nothing disturbing. :)
I remember here and one called hush little baby don’t say a word and it was scary because like I heard the song and when I heard it I start to jump out and freak out
I was sung rockabye baby as a kid. When my grandma would sing me to sleep I understood the lyrics were sad but I always just loved listening to her beautiful voice.
the "soucouyant" is pronounced the sookoonya and the story about her is, she goes to the kids who won't sleep and she's like a mosquito so she peels off her skin and becomes a giant mosquito thing, then she goes to the child who doesn't sleep and basically give a mosquito bite to them. Then she puts back on her skin again and technically shapeshifts to a human and nobody knows. Next some people will try to find her and put pepper in her jar of skin when she is mosquito biting them so she will itch all day long, and everyone will know it's her.
I am from Trinidad . My parents always talk about it. But I didn't understand. You should come to the Caribbean sometime and visit them. Nice for a vacation
The first lullaby my mom told me that I got scared was when I was 6 my mom sang "daisy daisy give me your answer do I'm half crazy all for the love of you" I was okay and fell asleep but that same night I heard footsteps all around my room so I got up grabbed a flashlight and stayed up till morning then I fell asleep bc the footsteps went away then at 9 I found the song and it creeped me out so yeah never sing that lullaby to a child
That is actually a song named Daisy bell the song was sang by the first computer who have ever singed. The computer version sounds creepy but the sound is actually a light kind hearted one when the song is sang by a human
Yay I’m early!!! Also I really enjoy your content jessii it always gives me the chills which is exactly what I want when I come to channels like this tysm for being so chill cool and fun :)))✨ Edit: I was always sung the “Mi niño” lullaby as a kid in Spanish the lyrics would go “Duérmete mi niña duermate ya! Porque viene el coco.. Y te COMERÁ!” Which means: “sleep my little girl sleep now! Because the coco will come and EAT YOU!” The coco is a different name for the Latin American version of the boogie man known as “el cucuy”
In Australia we have another song it's not really a lullaby but my mum used to sing it around the house, its called Waltzing Matilda. Waltzing Matilda is about a man who sets up his camp near a billabong and kills a kangaroo illegally to eat, the bush ranger (police) comes arrest him and not wanting to be taken alive he jumps into the billabong and drowns. The last line describes how he still haunts that very billabong it really freaked me out as a kid.
The bayushki bayu is actually said this way so you said bayushki right but the bayu part is said more like "by-u" then "bay-u" since i hear it daily in a game i play Edit: i seen a scary Russian lullaby called "tili bom" and its a lullaby that of you are not asleep tili bom with come outside your house knock on your window to get inside and take you away
HELLPP- i am russian and when i was a baby my mum would always sing me "bayu bayushki bayu" and i never thought it was scary i would just fall asleep very fast
Fun fact: the babes in the woods one was so popular that there was a murder in Vancouver, British Columbia based off the lullaby, look up “Babes in the woods BC” and you’ll get some videos about it :)
I heard of the song called baby fall asleep, baby fall asleep until you’re deadly and then the babies get really scared. I heard of that song. It’s kind of like a TikTok song, but my friend sing it outside.
So if you’re watching this video, I heard the comment section I’ve been reading all of it. Please do never try this if you’re a little kid who is seven years old I’m seven years old and I’m watching this video. Please never sing that it’s cold fall asleep, fall asleep, you’re so cold and like a
I do not like to walk. I do not want to watch my friends sing the deadly song it was from last year. Their names were Emily with Kayla and Ella and Bailey
And please do not sing that song called fall asleep, fall asleep, baby fall asleep, baby fall asleep until your deadly there will be a monster under your bed if you’re madly madly madly, maybe fall asleep, baby fall asleep, baby so lonely and it’s a long time until you lately deadly he he he he he
When I first read rock-a-bye baby as a child in those rhyme books, (my parents didn't really sing english lullabies only bengali and indian ones so I read the english lullabies from the children's rhyme books as a child) I was actually a bit sad and disturbed by the fact that the baby falls off the tree and would often question as to why the child fall from the cradle and why did he/her's parents suspend the child from a branch in the first place... Well I guess my feelings and thoughts about this lullaby being creepy asf was right..
You should explain the short song called "Once upon a time" cuz some people were like scared of that song,i know its not a bedtime song, but its still creepy, but its still used as a liliby (sorry if i write that wrong i dont writen that word for years by now)
Hi Jessie, I'm Trinidadian and I bet almost every baby on this Carribean island has heard this song lol and my parents sang it to me every night and you did pronounce it correctly don't mind the words when an actual Trini sings it, it sounds more like it cuz we speak "Dial" it's like slang that's kinda why the words are weird when not translated but yeah (ik no ones gonna see this but it's here)
I was always sung “rock a bye baby” and I go to the park that’s by my house all by myself a lot ( but I mostly go with a friend) but when I go alone I always feel like I’m being watched, you scared the heck out of me because I always loved “ rock a bye baby” I’m never going to a park alone again 😭
I don’t remember seeing anything however hearing my mother (who is loyal&Good but also shouts a lot) sing rock-a-Bye-Baby but it would only make me cry more And one time I (about four) pointed at some cliffs and said “Mummy, clwiffs have weird holes!” (I couldn’t talk properly sometimes) and she said “Well, love, So don’t go too close as a little girl went running and fell into one of the holes she fell and fell until she stopped she tried to get out but then a rock fell the only thing the people found were her red bow and crushed head” I was very traumatised

Yay I’m early!!! Also I really enjoy your content jessii it always gives me the chills which is exactly what I want when I come to channels like this tysm for being so chill cool and fun :)))✨
Edit: I was always sung the
“Mi niño” lullaby as a kid in Spanish the lyrics would go
“Duérmete mi niña duermate ya! Porque viene el coco.. Y te COMERÁ!”
Which means: “sleep my little girl sleep now! Because the coco will come and EAT YOU!”
The coco is a different name for the Latin American version of the boogie man known as “el cucuy”
Hope you’re feeling much better
In Australia we have another song it's not really a lullaby but my mum used to sing it around the house, its called Waltzing Matilda. Waltzing Matilda is about a man who sets up his camp near a billabong and kills a kangaroo illegally to eat, the bush ranger (police) comes arrest him and not wanting to be taken alive he jumps into the billabong and drowns. The last line describes how he still haunts that very billabong it really freaked me out as a kid.
The bayushki bayu is actually said this way so you said bayushki right but the bayu part is said more like "by-u" then "bay-u" since i hear it daily in a game i play
Edit: i seen a scary Russian lullaby called "tili bom" and its a lullaby that of you are not asleep tili bom with come outside your house knock on your window to get inside and take you away

And please do not sing that song called fall asleep, fall asleep, baby fall asleep, baby fall asleep until your deadly there will be a monster under your bed if you’re madly madly madly, maybe fall asleep, baby fall asleep, baby so lonely and it’s a long time until you lately deadly he he he he he
Will pass out
When I first read rock-a-bye baby as a child in those rhyme books, (my parents didn't really sing english lullabies only bengali and indian ones so I read the english lullabies from the children's rhyme books as a child) I was actually a bit sad and disturbed by the fact that the baby falls off the tree and would often question as to why the child fall from the cradle and why did he/her's parents suspend the child from a branch in the first place... Well I guess my feelings and thoughts about this lullaby being creepy asf was right..
YALLS I LOVE JESSI!
You should explain the short song called "Once upon a time" cuz some people were like scared of that song,i know its not a bedtime song, but its still creepy, but its still used as a liliby (sorry if i write that wrong i dont writen that word for years by now)
Hi Jessie, I'm Trinidadian and I bet almost every baby on this Carribean island has heard this song lol and my parents sang it to me every night and you did pronounce it correctly don't mind the words when an actual Trini sings it, it sounds more like it cuz we speak "Dial" it's like slang that's kinda why the words are weird when not translated but yeah (ik no ones gonna see this but it's here)
Hey Jess, I am Trinidadian but never heard this before. But the soucouyant is pronounced as soocunya.
Jessii : 💖🦄🌸✨🥰
Also Jessii : 🖤🕷️🥀🌩️💀
Theres this philippines folk song called ili ili tulog anay. This has a dark history this is a visayan folk lulluby
I have her rocking my baby when I was a baby, you know, my mom. Used to sing that to me so I can go to bed.
Hii can you make a video about the ohio urban legend i love how you post 😅😊😊
7:26 i think that bayu bayu smth wolf grey wolf lullaby is actually for a baby's safety for not falling into the edge of the bed or crib

I don’t remember seeing anything however hearing my mother (who is loyal&Good but also shouts a lot) sing rock-a-Bye-Baby but it would only make me cry more
And one time I (about four) pointed at some cliffs and said “Mummy, clwiffs have weird holes!” (I couldn’t talk properly sometimes) and she said “Well, love, So don’t go too close as a little girl went running and fell into one of the holes she fell and fell until she stopped she tried to get out but then a rock fell the only thing the people found were her red bow and crushed head”
I was very traumatised
A real video,no voice edits, ty for being real! 😊😊😊
I love the lullaby Ring Around the Rosie its a very cool but its hella terrifying.
