I had a stroke at 17, completely went limp on my right side and cognitive compression. All the doctors said cause was "stress". The year is 2020 to this day I still don't know how to identify stress but I am now 23 and have been blessed to gain back most of my right side strength. Thanks to Jesus I've been able to handle my anxiety as well.

Stacy I hope you come across this. My girlfriend and soon to be fiancee of 2 years had a major stroke 5 months before we met in January of 2020. She went nearly a year and a half stroke free until last week. Everysince I have blamed myself. I dont if it was the new medication that her doctor gave her because she did confirm that she hadn't felt this bad since her last storke but at the same time we got into a argument the day before. This stroke did a number on her. She lost her speech for 24 hours. It's coming back one day at a time. Each day we speak, she'll tell me she loves me and that she misses me. She communicates in small words. I pray that she will overcome this stroke again. Shes a fighter and like she told me last night, God is in Control. I love her and I'm very nervous and afraid. I feel so lost. It's like I've lost my best friend because I cant communicate with her like before. Last Thursday seems like a long time ago though. I know that I'm built for this because I have a sister that is adhd, autism, and cerebral palsy. The difference is that I helped raise her and have been around her nearly all her life. She communicates with people in her own special way. Send me a word of comfort and advice. God bless

Be aware of a higher risk for suicide after a stroke......make sure they get a chance to express their anger , depression and frustration , and don’t belittle it make sure their doctors aren’t brushing off their complaints of depression, or pain.. because, remember, just because they can’t move part of their body, they can still suffer great pain in the afflicted side. And the loss of continence and feelings of helplessness are real, and can be debilitating. My family suffered further tragedy after the stroke of a formerly active, independent elder, and it resulted in us losing two beautiful people to suicide......

I only had the last symptom. My stroke was deep in the brain I was told the area that effects balance. Mine wasn't a mini stroke. My stroke was not treated, as I didn't know what it was. The next day I saw a spot in my vision. I was 50. They only found out about it 1.5 years later when it showed up on a MRI I was having for a different reason. I was then put on blood thinners. I had been half laying half sitting in bed when suddenly something didn't feel right like my head was heavy and I was in a dream world. I actually did wonder at the time if I was having a stroke, so I took an aspirin that was on bedstand and laid down as I felt I couldn't remain awake. This is how I know when it actually happened. It's the only time in my life I wondered if I was having a stroke. Unfortunately, I didn't listen to my intuition. Never went to hospital or doctor for it. That's why they were so shocked when it showed up on MRI a year and a half later. But I'm telling this, because she said the last symptom on her list is usually combined with one of the others in the list. Mine was only the last symptom. Hopefully my telling this will help someone else. Also pay attention if you see a spot in your vision .

My dad just had a stroke 3 weeks ago, and the acute care inpatient rehab will not tell me anything about his progress or treatment! They will not inform me of anything even though I call everyday for the past 3 weeks asking them to transfer him to a facility that will allow his family to see him & be a part of his therapy, but they said that is not a good enough reason to transfer him. I do not understand how it is not a good enough reason, especially when he is also grieving his mother who also suffered a stroke and was taken off life support the same morning of his stroke. He needs the motivation from his family to continue to participate in therapy, especially when the team keeps speaking Spanish to him and he only understands English. Now they want to send him to an snf saying he didn't approve enough and it wouldn't have mattered if his family had been able to see him or if the staff spoke his language for the first 2 weeks of his transfer there. Once they started speaking his language though, he started participating and just yesterday he finally started saying a few words after being completely silent.

You need to get a lawyer. ASAP
They probably used all kind of drugs on him. He may not have been able to speak at all for a while. He need to see faces he is familiar with and let him know that you care. He may be weak, so if he cannot speak, see if he can blink or squeeze your hand a little. Use your phone to video him. Let him know, you or another family member will come back. This alone will make him feel so much better. Sometimes they will sedate them, so they will be sleep the entire time you are there. Demand to see him.

@@zeemc2751 It has been terrible, my father is now sitting in a skilled nursing facility with no therapy because the inpatient rehab said he did not cooperate with them and would barely participate & said they couldn't determine if he understands anything. But they were speaking to him in Spanish, when my father only speaks English & he understands everything, that part of his brain wasn't affected. He didn't participate because he couldn't understand a language he never spoke!

My mother has hat the hospital calls a anesthesia event after a colonoscopy in 2019. I recorded because it was post surgery and she was in the hospital but no doctors came. I tried to get answers but no doctor or nurse could find records of a colonoscopy done. Three years later she has dementia and irregular heart bead but still her doctor can't get records. No one cares enough to help me find out what happened that day so that proper treatment and diagnosis for this dementia. Even with this video clearly shows something terribly wrong and they kept her 5 days past her out day for tests. No record of the tests. Who cares enough to help us. Countless doctors and nurses and human relations have ignore my please for answers. Why?

So my mother and my life has been affected in so many ways by the negligence of the hospital to recognize or simply admitt that she was not prepared properly for anesthesia. She has coronary artery disease and from what I have learned since from a heart doctor she seen after. They were supposed to put some type of warmers on her legs to keep blood flowing properly but did not and a clit formed in her left leg as you can see on the video that went up through the lung and into the brain causing a mini stroke. When she's having it. This is my opinion but obvious on her video. Nothing was done in the way of timely attention to stroke victim. I'm guessing to save embarrassment then after the fact the records are barried in code where it is not destroyed but impossible to find. So no proper diagnosis no proper treatment now three years later dementia and still no propere diagnosis of the cause of the dementia so no proper treatment for her. It is heart breaking to see her mind deteriorate day after day and know that to this day no one cares enough to help her or myself find answers to why nothing was done in those critical moments to help. It hurts my heart to say but I have lost all trust and confidence in the medical community in there wanting to put the welfare of the patient first ahead of the al mighty dollar. I hope that doesn't offend anyone but as you will see on the comments none or very few will even comment on this let alone tell me who oversees the doctors and hospitals to help. You are just not interested.ifvyiuvthink I am just a crazy son that lives his mom too much to accept a diagnosis then ask me for evidence of my story. Ask me to see the video then look for the records that should be redilt available

And to me having had a severe respiratory infection for a long timee it clearly was not phewmonia. It was a TIA. I just am not positive that TIA can cause of dementia but my heart says that the TIA that I'm sure She had post sergery in 2019 is what triggered the dementia and her irregular heart beat she now has. If this is not correct than why hold the records of this day that not even her doctors can see it. They are not even sure this colonoscopy existed if not for the video of her that I took while she was having this post anesthesia event. Her doctor that works for the hospital said that they are admitting guilt by withholding the records and vitals
