Thank you all so very much Rev. Björn Mensing, Chaplain Ludwig Schmidinger, Deacon Klaus Schultz and Sophie Aeckerle, for this very special Church service at Dachau today, the 75th year anniversary of the Liberation of Dachau, on 29th April 1945 at approximately 5pm.
Also my thank you to, Axel Mölkner-Kappl for your excellent camera and video work too.
This is such a special day for hundreds and thousands of children and grandchildren who’s parents and grandparents were all brought together as Survivors and Liberators at Dachau, also especially for the extraordinary Survivors and Liberators who are still with us today, just amazing and unbelievable.
I, the son of Henry Stuehmeyer aged only 19 years of age on Liberation day, being just one of the Liberators from the 42nd Rainbow Division. Who together had already fought through numerous French and German towns and cities, and across many battlefields before arriving at Dachau that afternoon of 29th April 1945, together with many more Liberators from the 45th Infantry Regiment, 20th Armoured Division, including numerous other U.S. Army regiments.
I have learnt a great deal, and I’ve never stop learning about the Survivors and Liberators of Dachau, since I attended all the 29th April, 2017 Memorials and Church services.
Many have gone ahead before us, including my lovely father a short time ago. They may have gone, but no way will they ever be forgotten, and we still love them all.
Thank you Björn and everyone at Dachau.
