Really good crab info and PSA about the cliffs. This past year near OB, just happened to look up and saw some small rocks falling from the cliff 50ft above me...I ran back as fast as I could and within 3s boulders and chunks of the cliff fell down nearly missing where I was. The area of impact and dust flying around was crazy. Stay safe and tight lines.
Bro makes sense I'm opening squid and slipping one over the door and changing door latch location freaking genius ty learned something today liked and subscribed brotha hope I see you out there someday rarely go cause I'm in sac and ive only snared shorties last two years I use to commercial crab out of fishermans wharf for a few years 120,000 lbs my first year but this is a new game ty from a new subsciber
Great tips and tricks to successful crab snaring. Your "Secret Spot" being where the snare stops drifting left or right can also be indentified by the impressions in the sand. What is happening in the ocean by the energy of the waves is imprinted in the sand on the beach. The waves converge together as it moves back into the ocean and it leaves a deeper impresion in the sand. Straight out from this impression is your "Secret Spot". Reading the waves are complemented by reading the beach. Keep up the great tips and tricks. Watched the "Catch", awaiting the "Cook"
The info is very helpful for the new fishing folk however, i have been doing this before you were born and if there is something to learn is that there are no guaranties when you go out in the ocean period!
I've learned so much by your videos. Stuff I haven't heard before. Thank you putting out these video on how to crab. Especially the tides predictions. Nice on warning the viewer about potential dangers with the rocks, waves and having a exit plan just incase a sneaker waves come up. Keep making these awesome videos! 🏋️♂️🦀🙏☺🦀🦀🦀
Yeah guy, that spot you’re fishing is a dangerous area because at high tide, the water breaks over that area and the undertow is very strong to easily knock you under and quickly take you out to sea 🌊 It happened to me once way back in the day. So I know. I really thought I was a goner, but I was very lucky I got a slack area of water and I was able to swim out of it to stand up and hold my ground until the water went out. I got out of there super fast. Never been back to that area on a incoming tide. It’s those waves that go left to right. It sweeps you out. And also, never turn your back to the ocean because a wave comes out of nowhere. Be safe and good luck out there 🦀
Big Z you are the master. I almost gave up snaring last week but you gave me renewed faith so I ordered new snares from Crab Slayer and I’m planning another trip when the come in the mail. Thanks for the info and support to make it happen. CHA-HOO!!
I love your videos. You're kind and patient especially with us newbies. I haven't fished for decades but want to start again and take my son and nephew. Would you be open to being a guide? Just help us set up and get going? My son has a speech disability and this would be a great hobby for him.
I'm watching this, think hot dang! That's some effective fishing. Wonder why I've never seen people doing that here, and checked the regulations. D'oh! Crab snares are prohibited in Canada. Glad I checked before making one.
Thank you so much for letting people know that there is no secret spot. It's all about knowing the proper techniques and looking for the right signs. My biggest pet peeve is a bunch of people gathering at the same spot and then lines start to cross left and right due to a lack of space. Well done good sir. I'll also try that "squid cover" trick to see if it makes a difference.
Big Z thanks for the tip, I went out last night and skunked no crabs. I will try this new tactic and maybe catch one. Keep up the good content, good informative videos.
Went out to ocean beach today with the family and caught about ten crab, Four keepers. Definitely need to upgrade the rod and reel. Currently Working with a 6000 penn fierce III reel and 10ft rod. Felt like the reel was going to break. Thanks for all the tips.
My question is have you ever crab snared anywhere between San Simeon - Morro bay? I am new to this and will be going out somewhere tomorrow to do some crab snaring, what are some locations that you would recommend!
Rough? I can only wish the beaches in my area could ever reach the calm surf that was on this video:). I'd be throwing out 6+oz..probably at times 8 oz and my snares will be tumbling back to the left or right of where I cast.
Rookie snare crabber. No keepers so far this season but you've opened my eyes to what i might be doing wrong. Going back out there over the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend to give your tips a try. I'll update on the results
Dude, that’s a monster crab 🦀 I’ve been wanting to do this for a long while. I think I’m going to put in some real effort to get my stuff together and get over there to the beach. And you’re right, it really doesn’t matter where you go. It seems anywhere along the beach off the side of the road, will have crab just waiting to go home with you. Looks fun, and I really love eating crab. Right on! 😃👍🏼
Can you make a video about some budget gear recommendations for crabbing? I have an 8ft medium heavy rod with a 5000 size reel and 20lb braided line, do you think I could use that for crabbing? Awesome video, keep up the good work :)
Question, does weight of the snare along with the swell factor in the movement of the snare or will it always naturally tend to sway into the direction of the pockets? Thanks for your video! It's all great information!!
Dude this is an interesting technique that I have never tried for this reason, I sometimes move spots to where my snare stops moving so much because OB and BB can have some tough conditions that bring your snare back all the way to shore, but I'll have to move spots more frequently to find the drop offs you are talking about! If you're ever down to crab together shoot me a comment or something!
How many rods can you have out when crab fishing? Another UA-camr said there is no limit on the number of rods you can cast when you are fishing for crabs. Is that true? I have yet to try snares for crabs.
Big Z. Really enjoyed you sharing your technique and tips on getting crab. Can you tell me where to buy the good snars. I have one I bought online at a pro shop but the snar seems a little small. Please advise me to the name of the snar snd place to purchase them thanks
u need more followers because ur not selfish and very informative. Good for u

Thanks for the tutorial bro. I will be snaring with my wife for the first time this weekend, and I will try your method.

I have been following your videos. Love this one. Is it best to go 2 hrs before high tide or low tide?

@@bigzfishing4469 2 hrs before what tide?

Where can I buy the best snares in your opinion!??
Rough? I can only wish the beaches in my area could ever reach the calm surf that was on this video:). I'd be throwing out 6+oz..probably at times 8 oz and my snares will be tumbling back to the left or right of where I cast.
Alot of info thanks bro...
If you dont know
Now you know.
YeeeYeeee!!!!!🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Does the Pole have to be so tall? All my poles are Around 7'. I've never Went crabbing but want to try.
You said you use a 15' ocean master rod. Is there a model number?
Rookie snare crabber. No keepers so far this season but you've opened my eyes to what i might be doing wrong. Going back out there over the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend to give your tips a try. I'll update on the results

Loved your video, we will be there at the end of April, can we still catch crab at that time?
Thank you, it’s open Until July 30th
I use a 12’ ugly stick with a daiwa 6500 with 65lb braid. Trust me you can’t break this reel. It’s all in the reel baby.
Where can I get that one finger glove?
How far are you able to cast???
What beach is this
You found the spot?
What is the best brand of snare?
Any tips on how to avoid getting your snare buried in the sand? Lost many snare like that even after 5 minutes of being in the water
You are casting into what I call the tumble zone. You need to cast beyond it.
Great video!
Why are you wearing a one-finger glove? Like did something happen to your finger or you’re just wearing it as a protection from those crabs’ pinchers?
Can you make a video about some budget gear recommendations for crabbing? I have an 8ft medium heavy rod with a 5000 size reel and 20lb braided line, do you think I could use that for crabbing? Awesome video, keep up the good work :)
If you check out my recent upload I did a video on it already here’s the link ua-cam.com/video/CuYKtt0ePqg/v-deo.html
@@fight2liv The reel is a Penn Battle III 5000 LE and the rod is a Penn Battle III LE. Thanks for the help I appreciate it :)
@@fight2liv Ive been looking at the Okuma Longitude 10ft rod. What are your thoughts on that one?
@@fight2liv Awesome, thanks for the help bro :D
My rod is actually customized to a 15 foot but a 12 foot will do the job.
Great info
thank you
Where did you get your 15 ft rod?
What tide chart do you use?
Where this location. Can you send me location maps
Thank you big z
Your welcome

The crabs like the rip or outflow channel, more food.

Safety check you the only one Chahooooo
Makes sense…less current sinking food. Crabs eat

You can use as many rods you want for crabbing at the surf but keep in mind that it’s hard work that’s why I use one 😅
I know where u r 👀
Hi Big Z, when is the best time of a day for crabbing? High tide? low tide? When tide becomes high, or when tide becomes low? Thank you!
Outgoing tide
You closed on your loop on the first one.
11:00 I got here not 5 minutes ago...
Big Z. Really enjoyed you sharing your technique and tips on getting crab. Can you tell me where to buy the good snars. I have one I bought online at a pro shop but the snar seems a little small. Please advise me to the name of the snar snd place to purchase them thanks
