Looking back from now, 2019, this game did so many things right. The slight head movement, shifting your view to where the driver would be looking, the blurring of things while sharpening that which you should (as the driver) be focused on. Just watch the car and parts of the course get blurred out at high speeds or in high breaking areas while the track corners themselves are sharpened.
i love how realistic this game is and how when you hit a high speed everything below the windshield turnes blurry. i love how they relized if your going that fast your full consentration is on the road. great video
I've played almost all the other racing games, I'm a big fan of forza motorsports series, but man i could never ever forget the joy that this view brings... So professionally designed, i even played project cars which does have a helmet view, but that's not anywhere close to nfs shift 2
Have you check project cars 2 and 3 which one that similiar to shift 2 i love shift 2 but hoping similiar game like this, any recommendation for a racing game that similiar to shift 2 ?
i really was addicted to this camera. why doesnt forza horizon 4 not have this?! too bad that i dont play ps3 anymore. pls give this game a remaster so i can play it on my xbox one
The physics and gameplay of this game is super look how windshield viper vibrates , how bonnet vibrate at higher revs , how disc breaks gets red after breaking thats the last realistic game i've played new games does not have this type of gameplay...
I'm just going through random nfs videos and man, that cockpit view is sweet even today. On one end you have Gran Turismo that is great but has very little sense of speed or movement. On the other, you have the NFS series. Even if the driving physics are arcadey, the devs really went above and beyond making sure everything "felt" right as far as movement and intensity.
It really was enemy ai, proper aggressive and they would get tank slappers and everything, this game was the only racing game that gave you true sense of weight shifting too
another interesting aspect that nobody seems to mention about this game, and which also seems to be part of the sense of speed, is the body of the driver and how it gets pushed back and forth depending of the movements of the car, and if you press the brakes hard, the car will push you to the front in a very intense action, all the modern sim racers of today are tame compared to what this game did back in the day, and it was not even a whole simulation game, well maybe for shift 1, but shift 2 was a whole different thing.
now i see why many players were scared to go fast on this game, because they felt all of the intensity that the driver felt inside the game, specially in endurance races.
Such a shame they botched the driving mechanics. This is the only game where a GT car handles like your hydroplaning at all times. This would hands down be the best racing game of all time if the mechanics weren’t scuffed
This is game ruins the whole realism thing in one thing.... The car wheels floats over the road, the wheels doesn't have the realistic grip over the road....!! EA should make SHIFT 3 with this problem solved...!!!
don't forget that tire temps and friction are modeled for each tire and they get cold, now I would say it is just skill issue if you can't control the cars.

Hopefully theres a mod that allows for full sim physics
even 10 years later (2021) it still has the best cockpit feeling
@@keepermk so sad games nowadays can't replicate something like this
Sad that no other game has a helmet cam as intense as here.
Project cars 1, 2
@@racerchampionlivehelmet cam in project cars is almost completely static.

This game physics on the other hand...
So floaty with a wheel so unnatural...

This right here is PEAK immersion on a videogame. Nothing else was better than this helmet camera.
This is incredible. Just a little movement and boom... it makes everything look soo believable
I miss these games so much everything just felt right
How come they never made another super realistic need for speed after this!!????? :( :(
+Solomon Perry Probably too realistic that people don't accept it
ha so true if forza had this realism and what it has with VR man money money money with better graphics!! BILLION dollar idea!!!!

Because of Underground and JDM fandom.

Oh when people used to prefer the quality and devs used to give quality. Beautiful.
@Lurker M ahh yes, EA community at it's finest.

I wish they would re-release this with vr support.
you got to love the IA is soo agressive
The most underrated videogames car of the world. It’s a Masterclass and it have 12 Years !!
Shits hard with helmet cam on but you can get used to it after a bit of practice.
i swear even this game is better than gt sport
Gt sport is not that bad :)

Looks better than GT7
One thing I hope in this game is Rain.
Why don't other games take note here. As a casual, I would love to experience this in other games.
not even Project Cars can compete with this game

Nice game, i think is buy it in the future!
Immersion is god tier but the gameplay for a sim game is trash tbh
No
to be fair it never was intended to be a sim, it always was an arcade
@@dfsstuff6572 Then why it doesn't have the inserting coin command?
It's not trash because it has good graphics
Everything would have been perfect if it wasn't for that horrible understeer
this in oculus rift *____*

at least use medium difficulty man, easy is so ... easy
those guys carrying wheels are so annoying.

Somebody should take the source code of this game and make a Parking Simulator Game out of it with Ford Fiesta and Manual Cars.
