3 tips that Actually are real TIPS!! Thank you man!
Thank you for the feedback! Glad I could help 👍
And no pitches for useless products.
Those are some of the most practical tips on the tube
I actually went got my measuring tape and tried the last on it's as advertised.
Yeah man sorry. My measuring tape needs diagram so I can't do your tape measure trick.
33 years as a carpenter ..these are rock solid
Awesome! Thank you!
@@Builtwithtools no problem ..I love seeing people showing real practical tips that aren't janky or taking shortcuts ..
And you still didn't learn how to divide by 2 ?
nice brother, very nice! why didn't i know this sooner.
you legend!
@@filippetrula1234 he did tho, he literally just demonstrated 😂
I’m 63 and just learned 2 new things from this. Thank you!
34 and learned 1 thing. And that 1 thing is i dont know shit until now
dont need tape measure to find center of board - just a straight edge - draw 2 seperate lines and the intersection is ALWAYS the center of the board
Thanks!
Why one should remain humble…There is always something new to learn!!! Thanks buddy!!!
Many moons as a carpenter. All of these are top shelf tips. Great video.
Thank you so much!!
What about just knowing math? Seems absolute waste of time. The folding tape deal should have anyone kicked off a job site! 3rd -4th grade shit guys. If you can make a youtube vid simple math should be easy.
😂😂😂😂 tip1 really? That's not the true centre. Bunch of jokers.
@@herringboneflooring3861 it works. Try it.
@@herringboneflooring3861I think you might be stupid
Usually the tips in YT shorts are useless. I’m impressed by your ability to not waste anyone’s time and provide actual value to this platform and medium.
Werd!🎉
I have to admit, I watched this because I wanted to laugh at how bad the tips were going to be.
Well colour me surprised 0o Good tips!! WTF! That's not funny!
Hat goes off to you young lad - 76 years in the trade and never seen three outstanding tips in just 60 seconds.
76 years experience from a 52 year old is top shelf!
Yes. Keep this guy around.
I'm a carpenter of 23 years and wanted to say that this is in my top 3 actual good tips for youngins or someone starting out in our field.
Awesome clip man 🤙🏼👏🏼🙌🏼
It’s not that hard to add. It’s better they learn math
Wow great info Thank you ❤
@bigz5262 It's better they get back to work building than doing math. Let them learn math on your house. These guys are carpenters, not math teachers who cares, he gave quick tips.
@@Topshelf786 lol no they’re a bunch of kids trying to find shortcuts. It’s basic addition and subtraction. I have my own construction company and what he has is a basic 2x8. They are always 7 1/4”. If they did the math they would just know the center was 3 5/8 without having to do a silly trick
@@bigz5262so where’s the math you’ve just been raving about. You’ve said that they should already know the number.
Been framing houses for many years and just learned something new with the finding center on a board! Thought i knew it all but apparently your never to old to learn so thank you for that reality check
Veteran construction worker here, finally real tips on the web
lies
Even though I do construction and I know this, but it is still amazing how short and on point your useful content is.
First time I watched a top video that was real tips. 32 years in construction. Loved it. Ty
Never needed the first and third but the second one is Gold!
I run an engineering company, I've just learnt 3 new things to help me. You're some kind of angel. I CANT BELIEVE ive not seen these before ❤❤
Just starting carpentry on a self build, and this will save me hours. Thank you so very much sir!
One of the most useful videos I've seen in a long time. Ben Carpenter for my whole life and I'm 65 years old. Good job young man God bless you Im subscribed
Wow! Thank you. Really appreciate that!
They did have videos 65 years ago....😂 Sorry couldn't resist...
Yeah they had videos 65 years ago but they didn't have sound and knocking somebody on their ass was slapstick comedy. Got to remember for all the years Dick Van Dyke was on TV he never did move that couch
@@v2vortexHe said he, himself, was 65 years old... Not that videos didn't exist 65 years ago. This is why you swing a hammer and lift LVL by hand 12 hours a day and I make double your wage to sit in an air-conditioned truck and listen to death metal and am having dinner with my family by 6pm 😂
@@icankillbugs Going back 65 years video was 8mm....You didnt have UA-cam.... Heheheheheheheheeeeee......
I'm just grateful that I can actually cut a straight line thank you so much for this amazing Blessing AMEN 🙏
They certainly are. Thank you brother.👍
Carpenters are very practical professionals… the world under-appreciates what these special builders do.. they’re excellent problem solvers too
Dividing a random number, also known as math
I was so confused. You mean what's half of 67? If you need a cheat for halfing a number I'm definitely calling someone else.
Halving
@@detectiveh7399
How has nobody else noticed how f****** gold your response is 🤣
That being said, I'm not folding my tape in half. I know what half of 67 is. The other two things are pretty solid. I don't do chalk lines much, but I really appreciate the insight of just popping the halfway point real quick.
Carpenter for 17 years and these are useful tips I've used. However instead of a clip on the chalk line. Try a pin. You can use them on wood or drywall. I've had one since 2012 and would never go back
Hey!! That’s a great idea. Thank you!!
Show a picture with the pin on a stringline please
Dude... Incredible. You've changed me.
I been doing this shit for almost 40 year's and i have to say that trick to find center fast was pretty slick.
Bro just use the metric system no stupid fractions
Wait, did I learn three new things in under 60 seconds? Boom! That’s how it’s done. Love it.
Broham's a frigging genius
All 3 tips are really useful and good. Thank you my man.
Awesome! Glad I could help!
Longer your alive the more you realize you never know it all. Great work young man!
Thank you for sharing your experience 😮
This is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC 💯
Thank you 🙌
So that's what my dad was doing when he folded the tape like that! I'm 52 and you just explained that to me 😆 where were you 30yrs ago 😆 🤣
Actual useful tips. Tyty
Happy to help!
Yup your right! They are helpful thanks man!
Not gonna lie, like most others here, I was genuinely impressed by these tips. Been woodworking since I was a boy and this still got me for tips 1 AND 2
Damn bro these are some heavy hitters.. great tips
I work with steel.. that first one.. not so bad to know now.
Awesome tips sir!! Keep up the videos!
Thank you!!
30+ years in construction,i'll use all 3 thank you very much!
Actually helpful information. Amazing.
Im a handy man and ill use all 3 ty
3rd tip does work untill you get to 1/32 or 1/16 makes it hard to see at times.
Good tips though
Makes me wish we just used metric
F you bro that’s my comment
exactly, i cant believe more people aren't realizing that
Cutting a slot for the chalk line was the helpful one for me. Great video
Chalk line trick, fantastic thanks man.
great tips..
I can do old school math, read a tape so I don’t have to break rulers.
I can do math just fine. Just not in my head lol. It’s not worth all the time of getting out my phone calculator or a paper
Already knew these 3 tips but was really cool to see someone demonstrate them for folks that never had a mentor on a job site 😊
Out of all the tip videos I've seen those were by far the most helpful
I have a great construction tip. Switch to metric so you never have to attempt to divide fractions.
Better learn how to divide whole numbers and fractions in the meantime. We been talking about switching to metric for 50 years.
Nothing wrong with him showing his way.
Metric FTW! im ex carpenter😊
I’m in college for a degree in construction. This short video taught me more useful content that I’ll actually apply, than any semester of school. Lol
If this is the level of education you are looking for in college you are wasting your money. Just start working. And yes, my undergraduate degree is in Construction Technology.
@@billblackledge2679 I worked with a young man who had a degree in construction and had to show him how to lay off 16-inch centers. Also when building the Duke University Library, a foreman with a 7th-grade education had to show an Engineer from NC State how to put prefab concrete steps in a stairwell. I worked with many 24-year-olds who had 35 years of experience. It is what you learn after you know it all that counts. LOL
Why would you need a degree for construction? My buddy is a carpenter, and if you're not a moron, and show up sober you can learn to be a carpenter.
@@LTXwooshie It's what people who can't hack it at engineering take to have a degree of some sort.
You are there to learn communication and problem solving in a construction environment. They probably assume you already know how to read a tape and divide by two.
So used to these kinds of clips being useless.
All 3 are genuinely top tips. Well done.
First time I hear about the last 2!!
Thanks for your service 🙏
1,000 years as a construction worker…
Perfect examples of actual “Tips and Tricks”.
Straight to the point, good quality audio and video 😊
Quick tip. Try millimetres and every halving equation becomes easy.
We really need to switch to the metric system. I use cm whenever possible.
You don't work in or know anything about construction, do you?
I kinda agree... but fractions aren't used in metrics, and I believe being handy with fractions sometimes help conceptualize things a little bit better
Pro tip : use mm.
Tell me you can't do math without telling me you can't do math🤦
Cause you're Mr perfect know it all...🤦🏽
I can’t do math 🤷♂️
There are three types of people in this world: those who are good at math, and those who aren't.
The little notch in the plywood is going into my mental vault. Thank you sir
I've been building houses for over 25 years. The tape measure fold is awesome! never seen that before but it's so simple 😅 Thank you.
Thanks bud!! Good to see useful stuff!! Appreciated!❤
The fact that he said “at least one would be helpful” and he was totally right 😂
It's rare to see actual helpful tips on here. Good job, bud.
Very helpful to me. I'm a new diyer. Thanks😊
1st tip is golden to me. Thank you..100%
Coming from an OG builder, thank you.
Ive been in the trade for 96 years 😅👍🎉, these are the best tips. Bravo sir!
Finally some real tips. Thanks man.
3 tips well explained, quick, and useful as hell. Good shit.
Bro, 1 tip, all 3. Keep em coming
Keep em coming mate, what are we going to do die with all the things things we learn along the way, the young guy's, take note
Simple, helpful and well presented. Thanks
Pass on what you have learned. Now thats real Education. Well done mate.👍🏼
One of the most youthful construction tips on UA-cam everybody has to measure and everybody has to cut thanks a lot bro
30+ years framing .. Never too old to learn new tricks 🔨
That first tip is gold!!!
First and last tips were so simple but genius to have on hand.
Two of them were helpful the tape measure one I already knew. Finding the center tops them all. Thank you.
That first tip was mad legit no lie
Learned all of these one summer when I was 17 working a carpentry job building houses and I still remember them 20 years later
At first I was going to dislike this straight away but after watching what he actually had to offer I instantly liked the video. I might add that i have worked as a carpenter for over 20 years and to be honest i just divide and do things automatically, but these are helpful tips for anyone starting or finding it hard to do some tasks. Great tips 👍💪
That first one has blown my mind! Thanks
Good tips! One of the most useful tips I learned was for making sure something is square, be it a square or rectangle, take a corner to corner measurement and as long as both are the same measurement you’ll know all four corners are at 90*. I used it welding, but it works just as good for squaring up wood, like a doorframe. Your great one for finding center quickly & easily reminded me of that one. I hope that will help someone like this gentleman’s three great tips.
Man i had forgotten 2 of those since i hadn't been in construction in over 20 years. Thanks gornthe refresh. 😊
Last 1 was dope thanks I will literally use for the rest of my life
Not gonna lie.....I don't know why I didn't think of two of those three ideas. Finding the center of the board by simply holding the tape to an even divisible length. So simple yet I've never thought to do this. Also folding the tape back to divide your measurement by half, also genius yet I've never thought of doing this. I will say this though, I will be using these in the future. Thanks for showing us these, I'm sure there's plenty of of people that will say " I've been doing that since I started in the _______ field back in 1927, but for those of us who haven't seen this, super helpful. Its amazing how something so simple can be overlooked.
OUTSTANDING TIPS
You are very generous with your knowledge, thank you.
Thanks man. Very useful. From the UK.
This will help so much. Thanks for quality content
1, using cosine error to advantage
2, using a better mechanical anchor but don't do on finish products, only on roughing.
3, use a tape measure to extend how many fingers you have.
I like it.
Depending on what you're doing material wise and how accurate/precise you need to be those are good tips
All 3 are going to be helpful. Thanks!
The dividing the measurements with the tape measure is crazy cool man thanks
Three awesome tips. Boom, done, subscribed.
Oh my god all three are winners. Great video and super quick ❤
Thnanks! Very helpful for everyone. Cheers.
These are real good tips...never thought of that
I’m good at head math but that last one appeals to me as a quick way to double check my answers. And good to pass along to my friends who don’t like mental math. Love that second one. Could’ve used it last week. Will use it!
Oh my god, actual tips. All of these are awesome. I will keep them in my back pocket thanks man.
BAM!...3 absolutely awesome tips!
Simple but very effective tips.
