    Amazing tutorial! I am a newbie in the ceramic arts world and I got a hunk of clay from my teacher when I stumbled upon this video and made my first pipe!! I am beyond stoked to see the results after firing and glazing. I think I will be venturing on into strictly pipe making. Keep on with the incredible work brother!!

    Did you say this piece is bisque fired at 04? Where do you source low fire glazes in that quantity. I most buy 4oz or pint jars, but would love working out of a bucket like that. Great work, by the way!! TIA

    • @Ceramicsmokeware

      Is there a specific kind for pipes i just started making them an i dont if its a different kind you use

    • @Ceramicsmokeware
      @Ceramicsmokeware  6 років тому +5

      John Sias it does not matter what kind of clay, just beware of what temperature the lay fires to and then make sure the glaze fires to the same temperature so the glaze will melt onto the clay the right way. So if you have a low fire clay of cone 06, then get an 06 glaze too. Don’t think to hard other than that and making sure there are no air bubbles by wedging well. You can do it. Tag me on IG, FB, Twitter, or send a photo when you get one made✌️🙏

    Hi! Nice tutorial, thanx
    Can you please explain what is the side hole for? and also when one smokes from this pipe doesn't the burned tobacco fall inside the pipe?

    • @Ceramicsmokeware
      @Ceramicsmokeware  6 років тому

      Екатерина Ушакова when you smoke the pipe fills up with smoke so the hole is to clear the hollow area of the pipe with air, and yes ash often times falls in unless you do not finish the bottom of your bowl but rather empty it.

    • @user-jy1eg7zw5q
      @user-jy1eg7zw5q 6 років тому

      CeramicSmokeWare thanks for the answers

    • @nowahblanco9935
      @nowahblanco9935 5 років тому

      Helps empty the pipe of ash, normally ment for majurana pipes lol and makes it a lil easier to smoke and not as harsh on the lungs. Weed is great btw

    I sometimes add vinegar to my slip.

    • @Ceramicsmokeware
      @Ceramicsmokeware  5 років тому +2

      gatblau1 you really don’t need it but it just helps the clay stick together ( it’s been awhile since I learned about how it adds an positive electron or something ). But really, unless your clay is not good, then you shouldn’t need anything to make it better.

    • @Ceramicsmokeware
      @Ceramicsmokeware  5 років тому +1

      Taraneh Mahdavi you’ll have to look more into pipes, it’s for clearing the smoke out of the pipe.
