I would love to visit Costa Rica someday. It's on my bucket list.
Very cool. Bucket list for sure.
Totally!
I’ve been to Costa Rica four times since 2014. Each trip was to various locations around the country. Several hundred species on my life list. At one sanctuary I encountered both scarlet and great green macaws 🦜. Apparently they interbred to create a nest of hybrids, which are now segregated in flight cages. Overall the variety of animal and bird species is incredible.
That's crazy!
Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome!
Wonderful! Stunning variety. I'm surprised you were able to spot so many birds from the river when they are quite small and so well camouflaged. That heron was beautiful!
The footage was definitely a little shakier from the raft but yeah, we sure did see a lot!
C'mon everyone...help these stellar people by subscribing! They've certainly earned it with their excellent videos and it costs you nothing! It helps too if you click like (assuming of course that you recognize the quality here ), share with your bird-nerd friends (or just nature loving friends) and comment. But at a minimum, subscribe!
Been binge watching you guys. My favorite birding UA-cam.
Love it! Thanks so much for watching!
Macaws!! Epic! Tiger heron is pretty cool, too.
Hopefully I will get to visit Costa Rica soon!
For sure!
Hello...nice vlog and thanks taking us on your journey! Greetings Gijs
Nice shots of the heron.
Thank you!
That looks like so much fun!
It was great!
Been to CR several times in my life, but all those times were before my interests in birds/ornithology. Even though I took pics/vids of all the birds on my parents' old camcorder, it irks me that I never appreciated the biodiversity CR truly holds. Hoping to go back soon, you're making me really jealous! haha
I have the same thing with Jamaica! I wish I was more into birding back when I went.
Macaws are so cool! I have somewhat experienced "birding by raft" except that it was a kayak on a lake, and I wasn't officially birding at that time, but I did enjoy birds, and I remember getting pretty close to a Belted Kingfisher.
That poor Waterthrush calling when you guys were looking at the Bat Falcon, he just wanted a bit of attention too :(
Bat Falcon or bust
Love your videos!
Thanks so much!
So many iconic birds down there... and the famed Jesus lizard too lol. So Texas has now gotten the social flycatcher, and bat falcon... now we need it to get a scarlet macaw 😂
This trip was when both were in south Texas and so after I saw them I was like "Guess I don't need to make the trip anymore" lol. But yes, maybe a Scarlet Macaw will show up. 😂
Wow! What a cool video. (I just got my FOY Yellow Rumped Warbler.)
Thanks! And congrats!
Looks like you had a great time, that Nicaraguan Seed-Finch is a really tough one, nice lifer. If you were interested in Costa Rica, you should definitely check out the Birds of Panama. Keep up the good work.
Panama sounds awesome! And thanks! We were really excited about that one.
@@BadgerlandBirding I love your channel, keep up the good work.
Wonderful content MrDerek, how many lifers❓
Thanks, Mark! For the trip or during the rafting outing?
Wow,I wish I could do this lol.All I get is a couple of cormorants on a tree.
Better than nothing!
woah that looks so cool I wanna go there someday the birds ,culture, and other animals look cool! :edit I’m subbed btw
Thanks for subbing! It's an amazing place!
Wow how did you get such stable footage when filming from a raft?
Thank you! The camera I was using (Panasonic LUMIX FZ-80) has pretty good stabilization!
Now I want to go birding by raft in Costa Rica. I took my camera on a kayaking trip in Florida one time. I saw quite a few cool birds but my poor camera got wet and I had to get a new one.
…worth it? Eehh.
That’s what I was worried about!
How many species are on your life list????
636! But I'm sure there are a few that should be on there that aren't from before I was keeping an "official" list.
@@BadgerlandBirding Serial cereal birds 😉
Nice vidéo but too much talking
