HERE'S HOW TO CHOOSE A RIPE AND SWEET MELON
When buying a melon, it only takes a few minutes to take a good look and smell the fruit.
You should know the most important thing.
The smell and the rind reveal the quality of the melon.
When choosing melons, pay attention to the appearance of their skin.
Avoid those melons that have visible green lines as they are a sign that they have been picked too early.
Instead, choose those melons that have a uniform shade of beige.
After that, check the melon by typing.
If you tap the melon and hear a hollow sound, it is a sign that the melon is in perfect condition.
A ripe melon should be of the correct shape, and any damage on it is bad.
If it's too soft, it means it's overripe.
It must not be rock hard but should be moderately firm.
If it is soft at the ends, which you can check with your thumb, and solidly firm in all other parts, this should be a sign that there is enough water.
The smell is another parameter that you have to pay attention to.
Melon must have a pleasant and sweet smell.
A strong smell means the melon is overripe which means it is gooey inside.
A weak smell means it's not ripe enough which means it's not sweet enough.
And in the end, it's not such a problem if you choose an unripe melon.
Let it stand for a day or two, preferably outside.
The melon will ripen in two or three days.
The problem is when you pick an overripe melon because you can't save it.
It's not tasty and it's gooey and you can just throw it away.
