I enjoyed this video a lot. Very professionally addressed, up to the smallest details. Just great!! Thank you!!
Thank you for the review and tips on lubricating before first shot
I discovered the exact same with the Hellcat as well. So the first thing I did was swap the base plate when I bought the Reflex. I've also discovered, for me, I tend to put to much finger on the trigger on these micro 9's. I've also discovered the support hand is key not to low left as well. 👍
Mr Hammer,
I also enjoyed this video a lot. Great details for me considering a CCW.
Be well
Man, I didnt realize I was unsubscribed for some reason. 😡
Anyway, glad to be back to your awesome channel.
I see you're seeking up on that 100,000 sub mark!
So well deserved!
Another great review ! Thanks happy Friday 😊
Thanks Mr Hammer great review enjoyed it don’t have a FN but it’s nice
I like the appearence fit and finish. But I already have a 365XL w/ holster & magazines. Love to try one at the range someday
If you reinstall the pinky extension on 11 round magazine it has a chamfer in that area that hurts your hand and should resolve your issue. That end of the magazine isn't going to print anymore than the flat plate and will assist in better control during firing.
Thanks for another very informative video.
I just picked up the MRD version and this is the kind of EDC I was looking for. Replaced my Sig P30 XCompact with this.
How’s it running/accuracy for you?
I agree, manufacturers should blend the magazine into the frame better.
Many magazines, including some 1911's bite my palm.
sandpaper will solve the problem
Never with reflex
You can remove those corners on the mags with some 400 - 600 grit sandpaper and some gun oil. Put a couple of drops on the sandpaper and work edges ( rounding them off ) . Work slowly as you go up on grit for smooth clean finish ( don’t forget the gun oil every time ), this is essential and it will give you a smooth factory like finish.
Thank you for the awesome video! How has the finish been holding up?
Pulling the trigger w/o cycling the slide to cock the hammer is called a restrike capability (DAO), not double-strike.
For the short mag i just got a file and ronded off those corners. Its fine now. I bet we will see new mags on the market soon that are less sharp.
Another great review 👍. Now if we can just get Beretta, CZ and Walther to bring out a micro compact double stack pistol we'd be all set 🤔. Heck, even H&K is coming out with a micro compact double stack pistol 😮.
I think every gun company should have one. I just want to see a DA/SA one.
Amen! I'd love it if Walther would model a micro-compact 9mm after their PDP-F, especially with an easier-rack slide.
An SA/DA would inherently be too large and heavy. It is literally impossible to do.
@@darrelwhite2649 its not impossible to make a gun slightly smaller than a p239. Are you an engineer or something?
CZ is working on one. TFB interviewed the CEO recently, and he said it's in the works.
I think FN perfected the subcompact with their FNS9c. It's my favorite carry gun. 12+1.
But the squishy mag release? Did you figure a solution? Always have liked the 9c, last one to include a hard case
The hellcats 15 round mag is the same, its sharp at the base plate
Great review. I do like that they made it a hammer SAO, but I would really want a thumb safety option to disable the trigger for holstering etc.
Same. I think that was a huge miss.
Agreed
It has safeties.. plus thumb aint guaranteed
When you receive the gun in box is there instruction on how to disassemble and clean and which parts to oil? Or is there a video explaining that clearly somewhere?
I saw that gap right off. I was bout to ask but u addressed it
if you have a 509 do yourself a favor and order the apex striker. My striker broke in half last night and the striker firing tip disappeared. You’re welcome.
I want one, but they are hard to find.
Did you fix the issue with the square magazine?
I noticed the magazine sticking out as well kind of bothers me I might round it off.
I think the MC9 has a pokey mag also.
1:45 I would say that another quality issue is the plastic recoil spring assembly…
100% correct Just clean it. How hard can it be? The heavy protectant oils on brand new guns are never good for the operation. Out of the box and every range trip is a cleaning.
Whats the height with the 15 round magazine installed?
I like the standard tritium sight on the front. Nice touch.
Mossberg MC2sc is one of the best.
😂
I thought most hammer fired guns racked easier?
Isn't that normally the case ?
I like the Hellcat better. F&N should have made the base plate rounded. However, it's easy to file round and smooth. Could even round it off with an emory board.
That's what I was thinking. Should be a fairly easy issue to fix
I like the simplicity. Glock 19 size please
FN 509 midsize
I got one in and the sights on were centered. Only problem was getting it to hit to point of aim. First shots from 10 yds were 6 1/2” low and 4” to the left. Tried 2 different brands of ammo with same results. Moved rear sight to the right and group got centered. Couldn’t do anything to rear sight to elevate. Called customer service and was told to shoot it from a supported rest. Tried that with little improvement. Still 4 1/2” low. Sent pistol in for repair. It’s on it’s way back to me now. I called and was told they centered the rear sight again and to shoot it more to get used to it. That’s not gonna help much. I own and shoot at least 20 handguns and most do hit at point of aim so I’m pretty sure there’s a problem with the gun, not with my shooting ability. Not happy with FN. I won’t be bringing any more FN products into my gun shop. And yes, I am an FFL dealer. Have been since 1981.
I THOUGHT IT WAS ME I THOUGHT I WAS THE PROBLEM I AM SHOOTING LOW LEFT HAD NO IDEA WHY
Same issue here, shot low and left. When I read about it online I thought, "that's a novice shooter issue". Once I received the gun I was printing a very tight group low and left. I drifted the rear sight to the right and I have centered the groups, however, the rear sight is not centered. Sig P365 sights will fit this gun, I already have an Ameriglo set on order, hopefully that fixes the elevation issue.
Could you please compare it to Equalizer side to side and let us know what you think of two ? Thank you
I've got the Equalizer as well as the Reflex. I prefer the Reflex, but both pistols shoot very similar. The take down for cleaning of the Equalizer is a bit finicky, but I've got maybe 500 rounds through it and it was flawless.👍
Mine is averaging 3.8lbs on the trigger
I hear FN can be hard on a gent in regard to customer service.
I wasn’t impressed after my experience with them.
@@jimwalden7863 I listened to a rant from my local gunshop owner about how FN was treating him unfair claiming his brand-new pistol was not broken and refused to service it. I trust the owner and felt like he was being honest.
I’ve heard tons of bad stuff on Sig Sauer too
I've had good experience with FN customer service.
Fn fixed a used fnp I got from a person, it broke, 10 day turnaround, no charge, great
Good review. I got to try one out and this is not for me. Not a FN fan or internal hammer fired fan either. I am also leaning away from the micros and going back to the sub compacts or at least the larger micros.
Agree, my Glocks 26/27 are so much easier to shoot accurately than all these new micros.
I agree. The only "Micro" that I've shot that I really, really like, is the Shield Plus. I imagine I'd like the Canik MC9 as well, but haven't shot it. The 365MACRO TacOps feels great in hand as well, but it could be argued whether or not to consider it "Micro". I have been super happy with the Shield Plus though, so much so I bought a 2nd. One has around 2k rounds thru it, the other pushing 1k. No issues at all.
@@J.Wick. I am carrying a Shield Plus Performance Center 3.1" most of the time now. Shoots great after 500 rounds no malfunctions. I do think that the PC model has a better trigger and the ported slide and barrel does help to mitigate recoil. I am surprised that the accuracy is so good with the short barrel out to 25 yds.
@@davidsawyer6003 Definitely. My choice as well. I really like the OEM trigger. But I decided to try an Apex in one of my Pluses since I have one in almost all my M&Ps. Wow. The Apex Duty/Carry trigger for the Plus might be my favorite of all of them. It's still got some weight to the pull, but the reset is OMG good. I've also put in a DPM Recoil spring in that one. One is mostly stock, the other I try things out on. That Apex DCK trigger & the DPM Spring are excellent.
Loving my Shield Plus with 15 rounds mags!
I've shot the Hellcat three times now and hated it each time specifically because it was too snappy and difficult to rack. If this is easier on both fronts while still being ideal for deep carry, I just might buy it. The 11+1 capacity is great also.
Grow some balls if you think pulling the slide on a handgun is difficult.
Really? My Hellcat was hard to rack like the first 2 weeks i had it but it’s super easy now… and most sun compacts will be snappy because the short barrel length
If this proves reliable it will replace my Jamcat.
You are the 2nd person who has posted a video stating that the sights are to the left. This is very disappointing.
You cant just drift the sights yourself?
@@northernninety7 I don't know; can I?
@@davidjs74 yes
Now that's some recoil! Sheez
I had a FN 509 le edition and really wasn’t that impressed but I know they have a solid following. I’ll stick with Glock and M&Ps they just work great. As always stellar content HS👍
I do not need a micro compact. I can conceal a 5" 1911 under an untucked t shirt without trouble.
Thanks HS. Great job. Good info. God bless.
LETS GO BRANDON
I can see that mag release button getting in the way in an “uh oh” self defense issue.
I feel like CZ in the P10’s or Glock in the gen 3’s got the mag release placement correct. SO many of times have seen drills done under stress and mags just hit the ground. Sounds trivial, to anyone that’s not been blindsided or pulled on and you’re waiting on your counter ambush 1.5 second time. You pull, fire and drop the mag you’re done, son. Your 3,958 shot mag just hit the floor and you got one MAYBE two shots off.
I’ve seen it again and again and again and again on my private range with friends doing drills. Gen 5 Glocks “boop” mag hits the ground after one shot.
This looks like it exemplifies that issue.
My Shield Plus is like that. Bad mag release. I'd never carry that gun for that very reason. My old Shields aren't like that. I seem to recall hearing about a less extending mag release that S&W offers for the Shield Plus. Is that correct? Does anyone know?
The mag release is not a problem.
These guns are much smaller than P10s & Gen 3 Glocks.
There is a lot less room to put the mag release, but this one is good.
I have an FN 509 Tactical that the front sight was off to the left new out of the box. Had to pay a gunsmith to drift it to the right to get it centered. FN's quality control out of the factory is not stellar.
Canik beat them IMO, that mete MC9 is a lot cheaper and has a much better trigger.
Absolutely ur opinion lol is wrong
Remember boys, this is a micro. You have big hands then don't bother.
no ambi, cost 500+, OR not standard, easy pass
Went to a local store and left without it because it has NO safety. Not good FN.
Yea I'll stick with my glock 43👍🏼
Just get a Springfield Hellcat! Proven quality!
that reflex logo is just ugly af
good video BUT I think I'll stick with my sig x 365.
Reflex better than tht
