- Freight Trains Galore 2 is finally here! Freight trains play a critical role in moving just about everything imaginable across North America. In Freight Trains Galore 2, we will take a look at several different freight trains running on railroads all across the United States and Canada. We'll go from the iron ore operations in Minnesota to high speed container intermodal trains in California with numerous stops in between. Several different railroads are featured in this video including BNSF Railway, Montana Rail Link, Union Pacific, Canadian National, CPKC, Genesee & Wyoming, CSX, and Norfolk Southern.

The fact that Canadian National still has Dash-8s let alone standard cab dash-8s is extremely rare sight to see
They’re the last major freight railroad in the US that still uses standard cab Dash-8’s in any significant capacity. Its pretty cool to see!
I think they only use them on the DMIR

I clicked on this video as soon as I saw the iron range photo & to absolutely nobody's surprise CoasterFan2105 has given us another incredible video!! It's absolutely insane that CN still has those falling apart old C40-8s and tunnel motors in active service up there. When I first heard that AC44C6M replacements were coming up this year, I knew I just had to get up there. I was able to go at the beginning of July, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Even if those locomotives will be gone, the memories and videotapes will be around for years to come! I did finally get a long-form video of the ore trains up about a week ago and it's one of my favorite videos I've made.
Thanks so much! Glad you were able to get up there, it’s a really neat place. Eventually, I’ll be doing a full narrated video on the iron range and another one eventually on the CN Dash-8s. I’ll have to take a look at your video when I get a chance!
Let's hope at least one gets preserved in some fashion.
Atleast the matteson sub is still going strong with the SD70s and SD38s

Seeing CN Dash 8s is amazing, despite the fact that none run in Canada itself (except BCOL 4609 which is running on local service in western Canada).
I am pretty surprised that 4609 has been able to hold on as long as it has. That’s quite amazing.

Great video! Those vulx hoppers in the ns section actually came to the local shoreline near my house. It’s called the Chesapeake and albemarle railroad which is the main supplier for Vulcan Materials, explaining the reporting Mark “vulx”. And again, great video!

Incredible video! My favorite freight train of this video definitely has to be CN’s iron ore train to the docks, being pulled by old standard cab D8’s and former BLE T motor SD40’s
Thanks so much! I had a lot of fun filming that operation last year. It’s really neat to see all those iron ore trains. Eventually, I will be putting together a full narrated video on the CN iron haul operations in northern MN.

@@CoasterFan2105 My wife and I took a trip to MN/WI and drove by those docks near Superior MN on earlier this week and I wondered what they were. Unrelated, my kids were watching this video and I was curious what the short hoppers were for and saw those same docks in the background, so I came to the comments to find out. Small world.

so sad at 24:15 to see the faded, tagged Tropicana cars. I remember 40 years ago. The exclusive Tropicana train, with the locomotive painted just like the cars.. The street running train reminds me of when I was a kid and we had one bar in our town, well it was much more than a bar too lol. It was right next to the railroad tracks. For some reason the made the asphalt grade crossing longer at one end and a drunk parked his car right on the tracks, A B&O freight train came around the corner at speed and smashed his car 1/4 mile down the tracks.

@CoasterFan2105 what is the rarest train you have ever seen? Mine is a tie between a CN train with the following power:
CN SD70M
CN dash 8(Standard Cab)
3 GTW GP38-2s
The other one that is my rarest is seeing a Burlington Northern Caboose and a BN SD40-2 in Rochelle.
Edit: The dash 8 I saw was not standard cab, it was a B40-8W with a Canadian cab, those are still rare these days. Added to the rarity of the CN, I saw it in a place where only GEvos are seen on a daily.
