Stonington Maine. Great harbor that's off the tourist radar.

The top of Cadillac mountain can get super windy. Acadia is beautiful. We came up from RI last summer. Great Vid ⛵️

We spent a couple weeks anchored at Somesville. By some weird stroke of fate and meteorology, we were able to sail downwind all the way out of the sound, around the bend, and up to Bar Harbor -- still downwind and without adjusting our sails. We enjoyed nice enough anchoring in Somesville and north of the bar at Bar Harbor to enjoy plenty of worry free hiking around the island. Hope you have a great trip.

We liked the smaller fishing villages of Maine compared to say Rockland, which was still a fun place, but we wanted that quiet Maine get away vacation. Some of our favorites were the islands off of Stonington where you have the entire island to yourself. Perry Creek in the Fox island Thoroughfare is a must stop and the water in there is actually warm enough to swim with great hiking trails. On your way south Port Clyde is a great stop and they run the ferry out to Monhegan Island of which you can't anchor out there and really have to take the ferry, but beautiful and tons of hiking trails. Enjoy your trip. We wish we had the time to get up there this year. You'll really enjoy it.

Isle au haut. Amazing place. My wife and I honeymooned there and I cannot wait to get up there with our 44ft ketch.

will not get that far. First family cruise on our boat. I have 5 year old and 10 year old. We will jump off from Mystic Seaport and do shorter harbor hops. Family friendly. Plan to get up coast of Maine, Novia Scotia, S. Coast Newfoundland in future. Camden is also a lovely harbor. Maine Maritime museum in Bath also a favorite spot. Have not sailed Maine, just gazed at boats on trips past thinking "someday what will be me". :)
enjoy your vids, thanks for sharing

When you approach Bar Harbor on Mount Desert (pronounced dessert) Island call the Bah Hahbah Hahbah Mastah on channel 16 and he will give you tips on the best places for fresh lobstah. (Hint: there are no bad places for fresh lobster). Some of the most pleasant people I have ever met all with a wry sense of humor and a twinkle in their eye. They used to have, and perhaps still do, one of the best July Fourth parades anywhere.

While we were being kicked out of a local watering hole for unruly behavior one of my buddies who had just sold his business for several million dollars vowed to come back the next day and buy the place so he could fire the bouncer. The bouncer told him to bring his check book because he was in fact the owner. We wanted to go back but couldn't remember where we had been. Great town. Great people.
