- With the FUJIFILM EF-X20 costing as much as $500 or more, can this new Godox IM30 flash that costs only $35 replace it? Yes, with one minor drawback.

I bought a half dozen units like this back in the 1990s. Hot shoe only, optical slave, no power adjustments, $15. These little units are invaluable. I used to use them to fill in dead spots in rooms when I did interiors by sticking them behind furniture. In 2002 or so, I shot an entire hardware catalog using three of these units, some artists vellum, and some gaff tape. I was in between cities at the time and my studio gear was in storage. I still have the units and they still work. The units are both useful and fun. Money well spent.
You have become one of my favorite photography UA-camrs! You have proven a few of my theories I had while I grow as a street & portrait Photographer. Bravo for the great work!
Thank you so much. That means a lot.
Great little fill light to put a catch light in someone's eye. Also, could be used off-camera, with a simple coiled cord. Can be dialed way down to trigger optical slave lights too! Thanks for the vid!
I really appreciate your content and you sharing all your photography experience! I am speaking to all your videos. Thank you. 😊
I pre ordered one of these months ago from B&H and I got the shipping reminder a few days ago. Excited to play with it.
It really has a lot of fun to play with.
I’m using a Godox flash on my R5. I have an original Canon flash but switched to Godox after seeing a friend use it. It is a quarter of the price and has a battery that lasts several times the time the Canon does with 4 AA batteries. It is better spec’d and I just don’t understand how Canon can keep charging what they do. Cheap doesn’t have to be inferior.
Fuji should bring back that little flash.
They should! I wish this was just a little lower profile on the back end
Nah..flashQ exists. I had efx and it's too limiting. For not much bigger flashQ is a much better solution and can be used off camera
@ But it like TTL for weddings when your running around.
Thanks for sharing.
Will this flash work on my Canon EOS Rebel T7 ?
Yes
Great videos as always! Bought with your affiliate link.
They sold out quick! But honestly at that price, wow.
I'm curious to see what you would think about the little rechargeable ulanzi f12 (branded on Amazon as vijim lm20) I love it and really appreciate not having to use aaa batteries.
I love the tiny flashes in general and if the rechargeable option gets you through what you typically shoot (without needing recharging) all the better. My only issue with many of the smaller flashes is the back of the flash hitting me in the forehead. It sounds silly I’m sure but for me it drives me crazy
@kaskoPhoto hmm the medalight f1 mini definitely wouldn't stick out but I haven't tried it yet, I'm tempted because I have a very small Canon g5x camera it may be perfect for.
@@ciarakelleyphotography let me know.. but if you are a screen shooter vs viewfinder, it won’t be an issue.
@@kaskoPhoto I'm a viewfinder shooter but I've gotten lucky I guess with not being bothered by the forehead bonk of some flashes lol
@@kaskoPhotoI get it. I’m trying to find one to pop onto my m7 for a bit of fun while I’m out with friends, but most units are a bit too clunky, even the Leica sf-20 style ones feel too top heavy
Nice..but I have the Godox Lux Junior..I think its probably better than this one..just looking at this the Juniors flash head is " wider" and even the Juniors flash output is better spread out than the GODOX LuX Senior..yes they are both plastic but the Juniors just seems to have a better design and overall quality even though this one seems slightly more "compact" than the Juniors.. but .me personally I think the extra $35 is worth having better output and light quality and the Junior has an "automatic" setting as well as a manual..lol
it fits any camera? for example sony?
Yes, works great on Sony. Godox IM30 - Yes it will work with your camera!

Gotta sat, I like this flash.
How fast it recharge between flash on full power?
Hi John, does it work with Fujifilm cameras?
Yes
Does it work on your Sony hotshoe?
Should work on any camera with a hot shoe
Yes
Will the recycling time be too slow?
I don’t think it was that bad, but I really wasn’t doing any kind of rapid fire
What the frick is the “one issue” you mention at the end?
I thought I said the one issue… the flash extends back to far for the M body, hits you in the forehead
It’s work good with m10?
It’s a manual flash, it will work good with any camera. With the M10 and the M 11 it does kind of stick a little further back than I would like.
