He master milo, op mijn werk doen me revies van pompen en seals, die seal van de waterpomp kunnen wij reviseren en de as waarschijnlijk ook door hem op te spuiten en daarna weer af te draaien. Wij zijn gevestigd in Raamsdonksveer, dat is volgens mij niet heel erg ver bij jullie vandaan. Jullie zijn goed bezig en kijk met plezier naar jullie video's. Like de commemt zodat ze dit lezen.
The reason I love this channel so much is that they could easily just throw that engine away and try to replace it, but instead they kept the PURITY!
Yes another shop floor vlog, due to water leakage into the oil the guys have decided to pull the engine.. emiel shows the throttle rod.. original had a extra coupling which this one does not have.. nightmare to get out..something is stuck.. exhaust sprocket maybe?.. dirk nocks on the exhaust that is stuck.. hoses hold it too.. (cool just get the engine out.. what kind of engine.. o a 12 cylinder russian chinees tank engine..). Exhaust manifolds are causing trouble.. bollocks..kitty fluffen.. emiel: this corner is little bit more down why is that?.. lets see if some cable are stuck.. it is out again.. now disconnect some hoses and pressurize some water channels separately to see where the leak is.. dirk: why is it not running through? Just suck it emiel ..( could you expect to hear an employee talking to his boss like this anywhere else then in the netherlands and not get fired?.. joke guys.. but generally dutch bosses are not the biggest ego’s and more approachable is my experience) .. emiel says leak is not in the bottom part of the channels.. so the leak is in the cylinder rows.. come closer dirk how do I need to hold the tank if I want to relieve the pressure ? Dirk: it could be the waterpump? Like this dirk like this haha.. test cylinder rows separately? Dirk wants to test them together whatever they mean.. emiel says no 1 at the time.. emiel doesn’t like it.. it could leak through waterpump into the engine.. oils comes out exiting.. oil diesel? Thicker oil says dirk.. one exhaust contains oil.. other one is dry.. why only on this side? Its the venture thingy that is causing it.. on onside its sucking on other side completely not.. dirk is frustrating viewers by using screwdriver instead of a socket driver.. its full already.. no in the tank not in my wellies! Says emiel.. dirk: you started.. emiel its leaking why are we doing it? Dirk i wanted to pull the cylinders.. emiel no thats not through haha.. dirk lets make a lottery to give the engine to a viewer.. its full.. dirk insists on using screwdriver,. Again.. lets pressurize... they are all leaking .. no leak how is that possible.. bolt is tightened? Yes by you ... lets fill it again (other side I presume, well same side but i do not know what they did..). Dirk says its clear its not leaking.. emiel wants to mount another hose this one is acting like a bellow.. waterlevel is rising due to water coming out of the pressure vessel.. dirk hears something.. emiel under side is ok.. cylinders are fine too? .. it can be the axle that drives the waterpump.. it has a seal and that can be faulty.. emiel spots a leak but its only a leaky plug on a blocked water channel.. they now mount everything on the waterpump?.. dirk does not see or hear anything_ strange it must be a combination of pressure and temperature says emiel.. more water?.. they have found it... water level keeps on dropping... after coffee break still 1 bar left and less water in the hose.. waterpump is the culprit.. oooooo party.. the totally reassembled cylinder blocks are tight..(big applause from this side guys!..). Pump is separated on the bench.. where is it leaking? Found it its peeing like anything.. emiel is not getting his head around it just the waterpump.. well it could not been removed with engine inside tankbay.. ‘wachten’= wait... splitting the pump housing.. you do need to catch dirk.. lets make sure we know the order of the parts on the shaft.. just a regular ‘standaard’= standard bearing... dirk spots a mechanical seal that is rusted and is completely stuck.. do you why it’s broken? It because of the pressure.. ? Its not rust but debree emiel tries to clear it all.. spring is rusted.. it condition is not ok.. lets see if other engine has one.. shaft has little dents.. chrome has left the building here.. part is made of carbon says dirk very light to.. same pump but with a height difference so less volume.. rusty engine in the back has the same size pump.. dirk says it was no broken cylinders, no broken coaxial pipe, no broken engine.. emiel yes i saw it at the start this engine is scrap throw it away do not even try it buy a new engine.. haha so everybody can stop moaning this engine is fine.. but it is logical no one repairs anything anymore in this era.. well not cheer to early lets wait if it hold in the future.. waterpump was already to far gone water and chrome does not last for ever.. there are more engines in the back which are fine.. there is on that is dodgy so that will be the donor for a waterpump.. in the comments jubilee clips need to be tightened just before break to get them water tight/leakfree..

HAHA - so glad you do a little commentary Mike, good effort - the auto English translation on here is rubbbbbish !! - but i am amused on engine removal - had to say it sounds a bag of nuts and bolts - BUT i watched a you tube vid the other day about an aircraft engine rebuild, it talked about 'engine knock' happens when advance retard is out of sinc (you boys know that i know) - as for possible head gasket water leaks, i wonder if removing the sump may help - since the crank case only has oil inside and its very likely a leak here, between cylinder jackets and head water - once the water is added and pressurized, you'd be able to see exactly where its coming from dropping out bottom, ie which bank of cylinders, inside, outside of cylinder, front rear of each cylinder, without endangering sticking head fully under, before stripping cylinder heads, so only working on the damaged side and save mucking up good side - the oil in exhaust doesn't look too clever - if that's a logical thought - will see if i can locate that engine knock vid if its of interest - haha and yes Dirk use jubilee clip flexi socket - and do you never use large wire cutters to remove stubbon split pins - just a suggestion, tell me to shut up
Eigenlijk is dit alleen maar beter zo, dat hij nog een keer open moet: eerst er flink mee gereden, daardoor zijn er wat issues ontstaan. Deze worden nu goed aangepakt, en passant komen er nog wat dingetjes boven, die worden ook aangepast. Het ding is zodirect beter dan ooit en in super conditie!
Goed bezig heren! Gewoon aanpakken die motor. Aanhouder wint! Levert in ieder geval weer interessante video’s op. Andere motor kan altijd nog.
Misschien voor dat de motor terug gezet wordt,de afstellingen van rembanden en koppelingen goed gangbaar maken.

The smoke is already reduced a lot by changing to the right oil. The one they used first was too thin, so it would enter the cilinders and burn resulting in a lot of smoke.

@@tonerotonero1375 They put in the right oil a while ago. But due to a leakage in the cooling system it got contaminated with water. They verified it was water by boiling it out in a pan.
I do not understand what you say but your faces speak quite clearly to me, sorry for this big setback. When I saw the water mixed with the oil I feared this will happen, I hoped it was just some bad oil heat exchanger but saw you pressure testing the engine and... well, this. A big ( covid-19 free ) hug from Spain.

@@michiel1362 Hey, thank you for your great work, I usually do but sometimes I just can't wait hehehehe. I'ts good to know that it looks like it's all a bad water pump, hope they pressure test all the tubing before putting the engine back in and they also find why it burns so much oil. I was watching the T-55 sequence in Golden Eye movie last weekend and I was all the time thinking about the the little white smoke it produced in comparison with this one.
Speaking English every now and then is good for understanding whats going on, UH OH!.... That's international for big trouble with engine.

Hallo gasten ik geniet hier in het zuiden van Portugal iedere dag van jullie gave vlog dank je wel...
die waterpomp mechanische keerring zit natuurlijk vast / is verrot omdat er een tijd geen of weinig koelvloeistof in het blok heeft gezeten. Koelvloeistof heeft ook anticorrosie en licht smerende eigenschappen. In tegenstelling tot gewoon water.Daarom ook altijd koelvloeistof ipv water

@@dvo9166 yes vlog 279, basically when they pass by with the exhaust at the camera and engine low to mid revs and under load you can hear the gap in the exhaust note where the misfire is 8:58 and the next few sec when they pass is the one ocassion where u can hear it most clearly.
Then you have the blue smoke when giving it gas witch almost dissapears when they let go of gas pedal.. 29:20 - 30:05 Never heard them say what it smells like tho..
If it smells of oil or diesel, if diesel then u know for sure.
If oil then u have a bad gasket, cracked cylinderbank or head, or even a cracked piston wich also could lead to loss of compression and missfire. But im sure they checked the pistons when they had the banks off of it.
think they said the engine is done in this vid. hope they have better luck with one of the other two engines that they got.
there is a vid for comparison with t55's and listen to their exhaust and compare sounds, less unburnt diesel or even almost no blue smoke.

@@tomwolf2603 hmmm interesting. I don't know if I hear what you mean, but I don't exactly know what to listen for, so thats on me. Don't remember if they said what it smelled like. What they did mention is that unlike earlier there was no oil (or diesel) coming out of the exhaust unburned.It felt dry. In this vid they said there were going to put the engine back in(in their instagram story you can see them putting the engine back in today) with the water pump of another engine. 2 of the other engines are quite new and in good shape and another one is a bit iffy they said in this video. Honestly the normal amount of smoke differes a bit from video to video. The one you sent has almost no smoke but I have also seen video's like these:

Most vids are either recorded from too far away or to low sound quality to properly compare and Milo's seem to be louder

what Emile said about throwing the engine away was a joke btw. They think it is more fun/interesting for them and the viewers to restore the original one rather then putting in a new one, as long as this one is not completely broken.(and also for historical reasons).

De laatste tijd kijk ik af en toe eens een werkplaatsvlog. Erg leuk! Kom een hoop zaken tegen die me toch bekend voorkomen van de kleinere motortjes waar ik wel eens aan sleutel. Wat ik me afvraag, en wellicht heb ik het gemist, maar hoe komen jullie aan al die motoren? Er lijken er zelfs wel een paar 'nieuwe' tussen te staan als ik zo snel kijk. Zien we elke keer dezelfde motor of hebben jullie al e.e.a. gewisseld in de vlogs die ik gemist heb? Ben erg benieuwd. In ieder geval wel makkelijk als je een paar donors hebt staan.

Klasse heren, die gaat het wel weer doen! Laat je niet gek maken door reaguurders die de motor steeds afkraken of alles bling bling willen hebben. Die snappen het niet. Het gaat om het proces, proberen en weer repareren, dat geeft de mooiste video's. Je kunt er wel een nieuw blok in leggen, ja en dan, geen video's meer want alles werkt. En dat schoonmaak en verf gezeur gaat ook nergens over. Dit kanaal gaat over de techniek, niet over verfen en boenen. Zo'n brute machine ziet er het best uit wanneer die onder de drek zit 👍 Misschien kunnen jullie iets meer vertellen over mechanical seals en waarom die beter (of slechter) zijn dan een stopbus pakking?

Heren wat jullie ook kunnen proberen is de rookmachine op druk er op zetten (zon 3 bar) dan zie je vanzelf waar er rook uit komt!
I have been following you guys for a while now as a commercial mechanic myself in Britain i can follow what you are doing by watching and figuring out your gameplay but it makes me laugh when you break into english but your English is far better than my german it will be nice to see the old girl running with the corect timing on cams and injection maybe she wont smoke half as much .
Het Milo en Team. De waterpomp. Mechanical seal is lek. Ik zag het gelijk toen de druppel eruit kwam zodra de pomp gevuld werd. Deze zijn vaak in standaard maten te verkrijgen en ook zelf te vervangen.
Nou de heren hebben vandaag weer lekker met water kunnen kliederen.
Wel mooi dat het iets relatief simpel is en niet de cilinderbanken er weer af moeten.
Vervelend dat hij er weer uit moet, maar goed te zien dat jullie geen halve maatregelen nemen. Geloof dat wij hem er wel vier keer uit hebben gehad voordat het goed paste en werkte.
Hee jongens, als jullie gaan lassen, doe dan op zijn minst handschoenen aan. Het UV licht van het lassen is dermate intensief, dat je er vroeger of later huidkanker van krijgt. Kan een incubatietijd hebben van 50+ jaren! En over de afdichting in de pomp, dat heet een mechanical seal. Mag Milo uitleggen hoe dat werkt :-)

Ich wusste es das es an die Wasserpumpe liegt warum das Öl mit Wasser gemischt wurde...wegen Wasser mit Öl hättest du fast den Motor zerstört warum der Motor schnell zu heiss läuft...ich würde sagen check zuerst den Motor und starte mal neu mit neuen öl und die ablass schraube nicht entfernen nur die halbe Drehung damit Öl langsam rauskommt damit der Motor die Rest wasser raus spucken kann damit der Motor nicht zum schaden kommt...auch Öltank komplett entfernen...das ist richtig viel Arbeit trotzdem das lohnt sich 👍👍👍👍

Hé Master Milo heb je aan de onder kans wel bescherming zitten want een thank motor kan heel gevoelig zijn voor stof en vuil dus er houd maar iets scherps te zijn en het beschadig dus. Daar kan het ook aan liggen
Ik denk dat die lekt bij de cilinder banken want er kwam ook veel wit rook uit de uitlaat waar aan je kon zien dat de water bij de olie is gelekt

Ik kijk al uit naar de postvlog... komen een hoop dopjes 7 die kant op denk ik :-)
en die gaan dan gelijk de stapel van nooit gebruikte gereedschap. Dirk doe het op zijn manier en gelijk heeft hij
Misschien toch ook reserve moter gebruiken, deze motor vertrouw ik niet. Vooral dat roken is een punt en hij loopt niet op alle cilinders zo te horen!!

Zeker als je nog meerdere motoren hebt staan is het juist interessant om alles er aan te doen om 'm te repararen! Leerzaam.
So here I go kibitzing:D Milo knew going in that bench testing the first mill he had a bad cylinder ( smoke city!) That cylinder wasn't getting compression/ignition and therefore pushing all that unburned fuel into the exhaust. We know what happens when fuel is added to the exhaust because that's how the tank's smokescreen capabilities work.

Nou kunnen jullie ook meteen de uitlaatsluitstukken eraf halen om de olie af te laten
Hebben jullie nou niet de behoefte om de boel eens lekker schoon te spuiten? Motorruimte en motor zien er nu niet uit. Werkt toch ook veel fijner.

Thinking about my friends Fiat project, I think it was 850 Coupe or something like that.. Taking the engine out was like "open the engine cover, open few bolts and keep the cover open with your left hand while you lift the engine out with right."

Zou die andere waterpomp wel ook eerst uit elkaar halen hoor ipv alleen testen en erop schroeven. Dadelijk zit daar ook allemaal zooi tussen om onbekende redenen!
Hoe kan die olie die uit de ene helft van het blok kwam nou zo keurig zwart zijn????
23:15 that is a typical situation with all projects. You end up doing something the weird way.
Kan je niet gewoon (dunne) olie in het koelsysteem doen? Dan heb je hooguit risico op olie in je olie.
Check ook ff of het drain gat tussen olie seal en mechanical seal open is (als dat er uberhaupt zit)

gaan jullie ook voor de zekerheid de remcilinder van de rupsbanden na controleren want nu kan je er bij zo dat de tank later naar rechts of links kan rijden??

Ik heb een doppenset waar ook een schroevendraaier bij zit waar de kleine doppen op passen (t/m dop 13), dan zijn Emiel en Dirk allebij tevreden over het aandraaien van die slangenklemmen
En nu we het toch hebben over patat bakken in steelpannen hebben. Als je versnellings-bak-olie gebruikt, is het in een minuut klaar ;-)
Jullie hebben toch nog een identieke motor staan? Wat is daar de status van?

Yes. It can squirt in where the oil pressure is low (sump or oil tank at the back)

First of all I watch all your videos, dont, understand but I watch then and read the English thing ... I am spanish so languages party. In my experience allways when I found water in the engine oil... Is because the head gasket is damaged... Also extra smoke is 90% because head gasket is damaged... And oil and water get un the chqmber... The 10% is because a piston or more have rings damaged...and this cause extra smoke too and oil leake in the exhaust. Good luck.

Just a question how can a water pump leak water into the engine oil? I thought water pumps are separate from the engine block. Any leaks in the water pump would result in coolant loss and not the mixing of water with engine oil or am I missing something?
It's a massive tank, not a car engine
