please note that not every single barrel racer is like this. It is not the sport that is abusive, it is the people in it, so when someone says they barrel race, it is not best to assume that they starfish, whip, or abuse their horse. i myself have been a racer for almost 3 years and have never once whipped or spurred (if i have over kicked, it was pure accident). Horses should love their sport and the rider should help them love it.

I love watching barrel racers.But most of the time the whip and starfish.I only saw whipping.And pulling.Lots of these horses were “excited”.But there mostly not excited, just get ran around barrels over and over.I want to show a nicer way to ride, but I’m just a lame pleasure rider.

11:53 the way that boy yanked the horses mouth disgusts me.. he did fine, he has no right to take his anger out on his horse about things that he did wrong. as for the parents, they should teach him do not take anger out on horses bc its only gonna backfire

Yes he man handled the horse wich isn’t right but the horse did have a hackamore on wich means no bit so the horse wasn’t in pain

I really don’t like the excessive whipping some of the riders were doing. But idk their horses so I can’t be one to judge. I personally hate whipping but I’m not them. But they hit them so hard.. js because you’re a cowgirl doesn’t mean you HAVE to beat your horse with a whip.
