Okay, fascinating, lovely, informative....but what happened to the place!? I mean, I can make guesses, but do we have a solid reason why it's no longer inhabited?
Lots of small settlements were depopulated by the black death and never reused.

Not such a bad way to live really. Lots of peeps are already close to that with pets and fam etc. Pros and cons like everything I know. I like the coziness. I like privacy too but Im sure they had ways to facilitate that as well. Thank you!🙏🇬🇧

My Abbott Family came from Halstock Devon to Ireland in 1612 as part of the 'Plantation of Munster ' in Ireland so I assume it was this area but I would love to find out more but the evidence is hard to find from England and Devon Heritage. Does anyone know of any 'Abbott Families' from this area. My 8x Great-grandfather was John Abbott and he was a Yeoman.He came over as part of the Belcher Party which contained 30 families including my 8x great-grandmother Jane Seymour who I assume he met on the ship and later married (probably from Devon or somerset). Any info would be gratefully appreciated.
