Who could put 2 "thumbs down" for this video.? This guy is battling cancer and you give a thumb down? Does your life suck that bad?
Scott A it’s now 26 😪
for real
"Can I say fuck?" Viv is such a cool guy. All through cancer and he still has a great sense of humor and drive.
I met Vivian in Florida through a friend and he is the nicest guy you'll ever meet. He is beyond a genius on the guitar! God Bless you buddy...

Great player
Great band
I met him once back stage in San Diego on the tour with Styx & REO Speedwagon, I agree, he’s a very sweet guy, & humble. I’ve been a big fan of his since the Dio days, if he has a ego he definitely doesn’t have it on display, just has a great spirit.
Vivian if you're half as strong a person as you are a performer ,and a guitarist, you'll be here forever. God lets hope so. you're a guitar treasure.
Gotta respect his attitude and strength through the difficult time, and his talk about vanity and his hair, that's real talk right there,,a guitar legend and a real human being, I wish him well!
Vivian is so open and honest with his feelings he is an amazingly brave man..best wishes Vivian Campbell!!
Rock on!! ❤️❤️❤️
Rick Allen lost his arm...Def Leppard still rocking
Steve Clark passes away(we miss you Steve)...Def.Leppard still rocking.
Vivian Campbell gets lymphoma...Def Leppard still rocking.
DL are amazing.
Don't forget Sav's Bells Palsy
Exactly, most Bands would break up if even a fraction of what happened to Def Leppard were to happen to them.
I'm glad he pulled through, you have Steve clark on your shoulder ❤💙
Pete Willis drinks himself into a stupor...still rocking
Joe Elliot slaps on 29 stone..still rocking
Mutt Lange gets involved and destroys any semblance of spontaneity...still rocking
Phil Collen loses mind...Def Leppard still rocking
Vivian's story is almost identical to mine. I had a cough for several months and doctors diagnosed me with everything from bronchitis to extreme allergies. Finally after about 7 months of different antibiotics and inhalers, they sent me for a chest x-ray, which showed a mass in my left lung. At first they thought lung cancer but after a CATSCAN and a needle biopsy I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Stage 2B. I'm done with my chemo and currently getting radiation. Vivian is an inspiration to me!
Vivian...God Bless, Man. I was a huge fan during your Dio days.
You were a very major influence in my life at a young age, and I will always regard you as one of the most important guitarist in rock/metal during the early 80's. You truly are a huge talent and influence to true metal!
Hair is hair...life is life...God Bless Vivian through Christ!
Really? Shit on the intelligent people developing medicine through science and thank your christ for divining the world with cancer in the first place? Twat.
@@patriklindholm7576 That's a very shitty thing to say, and also it has nothing to do with what he was saying. 👎
@@perpetualbystander4516 Lindholm is an Idiot!
Vivian is a hard rock / metal legend! One of the best guitarists EVER!
God Bless him...I have seen him in concert with Def Leppard and he was great. This band has gone through so much and they stick together.
I too am a Hodgkins Lymphoma survivor. I had the same symptoms as you. Stay strong and remember you have cancer, cancer doesn’t have you!
He's looking good here. His overall positive frame of mind I'm sure is making a difference. Get well and stay well Vivian
Interesting story. Best wishes to Vivian. I am Hodgkin's survivor too. Love Def Leppard & Dio!! The best.
I once donated my hair to a place called Locks of Love which is where you let your hair grow real long and cut it and make a wig for people with cancer and l also tried to raise money for the Cancer foundation for my father who died of cancer 5 years ago is what you are going through related to cancer?? You guys don't need anything happening to you guys again l mean he replaced Steve Clark didn't he?My prayers are with you that you get through this because you have been through enough as it is
Man, Vivian's been battling with this for years! Talk about "in the fight".
Keep fighting Vivian! You got to keep us stuffed with your guitar playing and writing and basically, the world need Vivian Campbell!!!
Love you man
I sat next to this guy at a Neil Finn show at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles several years ago. I told him how awesome of a musician he was and shook his hand. He graciously thanked me and then said "if you really want to see something awesome wait till Neil comes out". He was unbelievably humble…I am so impressed by this video. I hope he reaches a lot of people with his positivity. Best wishes to him and to anyone who suffers from the awful effects of cancer.
My father had this form of cancer in the late 1970s and was one of the first - if not the first - people to be cured of it in Northern Ireland. The medical staff at Craigavon Hospital called him "the Miracle Man"... Best wishes to Vivian for a speedy recovery. Hemp Oil might be an alternative to chemo.
Because of him I had a lump in my breast checked out and it is cancer we caught it early enough I have a high survival rate. Thanx Viv
Yes...such a humble interview. Talking about an illness, sharing the journey. That is human connection, rare, unadulterated.
I get the hair..I'm a hairstylist/cosmetologist 37 yrs & going. My hair from a babe in the 70's to now has been a part of my image, and I am Irish with hair and looks, 🤗😉
In 2010 at 48, I shaved my head. I wanted to see my hair color. The feedback was surprisingly good. Some people close were shocked, yet when they saw I walked in my beauty and I am me...Respect.
Been and looking your season in this life is true to your authentic self. Vivian, I would have been happy to cut your hair! 🙂🤗
I met Vivian back in the early 80s when he came down from Belfast to Dublin with Sweet Savage. Not only did he amaze us with his playing, but he was really nice guy. My very best to him and his family. He still inspires in many ways.
Man I love Vivian. He is such a down to earth guy with a great big heart for others. If not for you sir, I would have never became a guitar player myself. Your style and passion in my humble opinion created a lot of the things we needed to learn as guitarist back from the DIO days even until this day.an I love you and pray for you.
Vivian, you look GREAT! And you are an inspiration--both as a guitarist/musician and a spokesman for lymphoma. I greatly respect and applaud you. And if I could tell you one thing, it would be, "Fuck the hair!" Who cares?! In the grand scheme of things, that is so incredibly unimportant. If anything, I have a great deal MORE respect for you now, with your current appearance, than I ever did before. And that's saying something, for my opinion of you has always been so very high. You have been one of my favorite guitarists for 30 years. Thank you.
I wish you full recovery Viv ! Thank you for sharing your story! You are the best, keep on rocking! I saw you with Def Leppard and I'm a huge fan!
P.S. Just want to let you know, my nephew had Hodgkin's Lymphoma about 12 years ago and he is doing really great!
Hey Viv, it wasn't your hair that made us love ya. Good luck.
Vivian Campbell has been one of my favorite guitarists ever since he started with Dio. His attitude in dealing with his health issues is not only courageous, but inspirational as well. And as far as the hair is concerned, I think being bald gives him a more modern and current look, "hip" if you will. Luckily his head is shaped such that he wears bald well. Hell, look at Joe Satriani. Now the two of them should start a band. Call themselves the Bad Ass and Bald Bandito Brothers. Much prayers, love, and respect to you V.C. You'll be just fine.
One of the finest compliments I ever received for my own playing was when someone told me they heard a hint of Vivian Campbell in my music. :-)
Another Irish with Lymphoma. I’m a 33 year old Mum of one from Waterford. Huge fan! It’s been a terrible few months here in and out of hospital with constant infections. But I’ve just had my second last chemo. One more left. Thank god. Was stage 2 also and feeling very lucky to be alive. Thanks for sharing your story. Not only did my whole image change but non of that matters. I still get to hear my son say “I love you Mammy” so if I stay bald and overweight the rest of my life I don’t care. Vanity completely gone from my life. All that matters is staying here in any form for my three year old baby boy ❤ stay strong all. I’m so thankful for this story and this channel 🙏🙏🙏
We are sorry to hear that you have been dealing with lymphoma and have been in and out of hospital in recent months. Thank your sharing your story and positive outlook - we send you our very best wishes
Viv, you look BETTER without your hair!
I swear you do!
It actually updated your look by many years.
You rock and you've got CRAZY style now!
The VERY BEST to you and your family.
Interesting you said that. I think he's a great looking man without hair or a wig. I mean, seriously. You aren't a kid anymore. Now you've updated your look. Like Phil Collen updated his whole health regime!
Take care of yourself Vivian... I was going through cancer treatment when Holy Diver came out and you and Dio kept me going while I recovered... You have a great attitude... Be well...
I met Vivian twice!! We partied out with the whole band!!! It was awesome!!! Yes he's Soo cool!! We partied on the top of the hotel!! He had to pay for a taxi all the way home!! Geezzz if only I had all the pic!!! We partied with everyone and went room to room drinking all the bottles!! He had good weed.... Oops.. and his wife was calling him!! And then he played and sang for us!!! He enjoyed my friend Bonnie!! God bless u Vivian!!
Viv is a gentleman, long may he live to rock and roll and set an example to others.
Don't sweat the hair, Viv. You just concentrate, I mean CONCENTRATE!!! I Love you, Mr. Campbell, and expect to see you again for the 9th time on the bands next tour. You're always in my prayers. . . ROCK ON!!!
Wow. What an attitude. I love his playing and he seems like a real sweetheart. Love the brogue, too.
Def Leppard is one of the greats. I had Stage IV Non Hodgkins. The chemo is brutal. So glad Vivian is doing better. The crazy thing is that people are living with cancer and don't even know it. I can relate to his symptoms. Be well Vivian!
I went through it. It's a bitch. I've been clear for years. They said I was terminal but they were wrong. At one point I was down to 94 pounds. I'm a blues guitarist, luthier here in OC, Cal. Any advise, feel free... P.S. Your shaved head is in style and the hair grows back fast. Hang in there.
keep well and healthy dude
he still looks younger than most rockers from the early 80's
Get well soon Viv!
Great attitude.Inspiring.And it doesn't matter what he looks like, the quality of his guitar playing is much more important.
Thank you Viv - Love and prayers for your continued health and vitality!
Dude! hair or no hair...I've been with ya since Dio...not stopping now.
Had tickets to the 2012 show and it was canceled - with a message from the band that said, "Pray for our Def Leppard family" I never followed up with the story so I am blown away now. Blessings to you and your family. My wife was diagnosed in Jan 2013 and is recovering.
Viv you are handsome inside and out. Hair or no hair... you are handsome and such a sweet spirit. God Bless You.
What a well spoken nice fella and of course an awesome guitarist! Best wishes to you Vivian Campbell.
Prayers brother. My favorite guitar player when I was growing up. Met him once in Dallas at guitar show. Early 90s . Very nice person. Got an autographed poster
I like his American-Irish accent.
You're a trooper Viv. Thanks for being awesome and please fight this! My co-wroker had stage III/ IV & she lost her hair, but she made it through. She's 57.
OMG AMERICAN-Irish??!!!! 🙈 There is absolutely nothing American about his acent......he is from Belfast, Northern Ireland....
@@rupertwilliams891 yeah the Belfast accent is "curly", I'm in Donegal and l do hear a wee bit of America in there, but the accent up here is a little curly in comparison to the lower counties.
@@irishcountrygirl78 Its just a slight american twang he has, just presumably from living there so long and rubbing off on him when he pronounces certain words. But he's Belfast through and through 😎
One of my favorite players, i don't follow def leppard much( i do like a lot of their music) but his stuff with Dio is some of the best stuff, of ever!
Vivian + Dio = Awesome !
Too bad they hated each other.
atomic3939
it's my understanding they made amends before Ronnie passed on.
Irish are tough! Great Vivian!
Marcus Vinnas
He's a Scot!
Motorsaw Adams
He's Irish!
He says right in the interview "That is part of my stubborn Irish Mindset".
I think he would know ;)
no hes Northern Irish Belfast is in Northern Ireland which is in the UK which means hes British
Dio said he's a moron, so he's no Irish, he's a moron .
Campbell is a common Irish surname as it is in Scotland.
my husband died from complications from a bone marrow transplant, so my prayers are with you Vivian

I've been a big fan of Vivian's from the Dio and Whitesnake days up to his Def Leppard gig. In fact, I've seen him in concert once for WS and twice for DL. Hang in there, mate! God Bless!
Vivian the best advice that I got when I battled my leukemia was that I had to find my new normal. Because you really are never the same again. The way you carry on is inspiring. God bless you.
I saw you a bunch of time with Dio your a great guitar player! I also been Diagnosed with Non hodgkins lymphoma at 53 a few years back. Came out right after a triple hernia surgery. I went through every stage of emotion possible now I just except it and live my life. Good luck and rock on!!!!
