Join me as I investigate the flooding happening now along the Danube in Vienna. I ride the Donauinsel and see how the Entlastunggerinne (overflow basin) is handling the load. Then I check out the flood cycling and hiking paths, and loop over to the Kraftwerk Freudenau (hydroelectric power plant) before finishing up north of the city at the cruise ship dock,.

Why ride on a closed bike path? If you slip/fall, you're a gonner.
To be clear, I didn’t ride on any of the paths that were closed. Just rolled down to where the water started. Strangely, the southernmost end was not cordoned off. I went down again today but more on the north end… km18-km10 . Water was even higher. Tomorrow I’m cycling down the EV6 towards Bratislava. Will check if they finally closed off that last section below km2.
