What is surprising to me is that despite the religious influence of Saudi Arabia's Salafi education in this country, their religious culture is more dominantly akin to that of the Sudanese's. That dancing with canes is typically Sudanese. Moreover, the Sufi influence is also apparently manifested in their ritual practice.
Hope to visit this country in the future, Insha Allah.
Love from a Bangsamoro Muslim brother from the Philippines.

it was amazing & informative documentary about the Comoran culture , obviously their traditional values are built on gaining respect and sharing some of your wealth with your people , even for my personal opinion it's too much expensive to make it widely to everyone in the society I think if they have to make it grand they have to make it at the first day of the wedding not after years .

Yeah, you are absolotely right. If they do it from the first day of the marriage, they could gain back what they lost easily. But when they let it to the end of thier life journey, that means they are leaving their children with depts which is totally not fear. This is not what famillies are for.

Not everybody in Comoros likes it. Regarding the new generations, they do not look for it. It somehow destroys the economy of the country. I am not saying it does not have any benefit, but this tradition leaves men empty hands. Couples in Comoros work for years, gathering much money not for a better life forem and children, but to spend them in a week to leave their children with depts to pay back. This is not fear full stop. Families should think of their children's future not to leave them poor as well as they are.

That's because some people have arabic roots, i'm myself have arabic and persian roots, that's part of us and we do not deny our culture, we embrace all our origins, The 4 Comoros island have origins of bantu people from kenya and tanzania, arabic from oman and yemen, persian from shiraz, indonesian and indian (only few people), that's what is a Comorian, just to remind you, France is made up of Gallic people, Celtics People, Franc people, when you ask a french, he will always says "i'm fench" and when you ask the origins of the french and their culture they will say, Gallic, Franc, Celtic, it's a mix, so the same thing apply to the Comoros, we are Comorian that's all, and what's the origins of the Comorian, the origins are Bantu, Arab, Persian, Indonesian, Indian, end of story.

Before Arab domination, there was a time dominated by the Fani, the Beja, the Mafe and other peoples, so they may have Somali ancestors, i guess we have to dig into Somali history to know. Never forget that all humans are multi-ethnic, so transmission can be done through migration.
