bought VSL F308 at around 35% off....Fazioli really sounds very different....also have the VSL two Bosendorfer and Steinway concert grand....Fazioli is really a very big file almost at 1.90GB sample size with five mics...we have the same yamaha hybrid N1X but the VSL is installed on my Mac Mini and using an external speakers....i'm more on a bass picker so Imperial is probably my first choice than Fazioli
I got N1X too, also got the VSL Synchron with Steinway D … there were massive glitches… Just purchased a new desktop system, with NVse SSD, hope it works …

Hi Nathan. I have the VSL Steinway VST and it sounds nice with a very good dynamic range. The tone is a bit colder compared to their Bosendorfer Imperial and the F308. So it does have a bit colder and more metallic sound. Although, it does have beautiful dynamic expression. If I had to choose between the F308 or Steinway, I'd choose the F308 for its warmth and clarity. Since we have the same practice instrument, how do you activate the 4th pedal? In the examples they show online, people are using it but i have no idea how?
@@nathanrumbley2349 Hi Nathan, the Synchron Piano software enables the user to assign different values to each pedal. I've made the middle pedal (sostenuto) perform the function of the forth pedal. Although, I really don't find the forth pedal translates well in the virtual piano world. It's too quiet. It's like VSL's soft pedal on steroids. I'm sure it works beautifully on the real instrument, but not so much in the sample library. Of course, others might find a use for it.

Hi, that's a really good question. I wish I knew more about VSL's sampling process and if they've made any changes in this most recent (F308) offering. It does seem to be of a higher quality in terms of the clarity, precision, noise floor, and PPP to FFF range. However, I can't account for why I feel it's like that.

Hi. I think VSL is offering free demos right now. If not you can still buy and try for two weeks and get a refund if you don't like it. You really have to hear and play it for yourself. That's the only way to determine if you'll be happy with it. I still love it and it's currently my favorite VSL piano.
