All The Prophecies In The Riordanverse Explained

- Let's talk about prophecies! We don't like prophecies, they're generally pretty deadly. But at the same time, they're pretty cool. Let's explain 'em.

Guys, let's be honest, profacies are just uncle rick trying to give us spoilers without actually spoiling the book 😉
Lol just lol
i absolutely LOVE your name
never thought about it that way lol
Exactly!
Prophecies*
My personal head cannon is that Annabeth took the dagger for Percy because she remembered the prophecy’s lines and was trying to stop the prophecy from happening right in front of her. She didn’t know if Ethan’s poisoned dagger was the ‘cursed blade’, but she was afraid Ethan would get a lucky shot and stab Percy in his weak spot. When Annabeth saw Ethan sneaking up on Percy, she hurried to get in between them in time and tried to block Ethan’s strike with her own knife, but she was rushed and off balanced, so the poisoned dagger got her in the arm. 😭
That... makes a lot of sense.
Yeah
A naruto person who likes Percy Jackson finaly
@Benjamin Trask not
mine is that she swore on the river styx she would always keep him safe and since she cant go against it once he was in true danger she jumped to protect him
While reading that line of the Mark of Athena prophecy: " the angel's breath who hiolds the key to endless death" am i the only one who immediately thought about Nico?
I didn't, but when you think about it, I guess it couldn't really be anyone else.
I thought "gold and pale" meant Nico and hazel
I did cuz I am sensitive to names
@@DAKRAB makes sense
right
Beckendorf: the prophecy says one shall be lost in the land without rain so I suggest staying away from deserts
Grover, Thalia, Zoë, Bianca, and Percy: *goes to the junkyard of of gods, located in a DESERT*
Bianca: *dies and nobody was able to find her making her lost*
Beckendorf: WHAT DID I JUST SAY-
He tried to warn them and they just... wow.
But I isn’t it worse if you try to avoid a prophecy?
@@NatBSthat depends
Just imagine how very depressing it had to be for annabeth after Explosion of Mount Saint Helens not knowing whether percy survived or not, with full knowledge of the last line of her prophecy...
Poor Annabeth!
Can we just appreciate Rick for actually coming up with these prophesies!?
Yeah like how does he come up with one for like every book.
They're amazing.
@@TheDemigodLoverespecially the dark prophecy
@@Potato-314 That one wasn't my favourite, but it sure was clever
Ikr? Cause I was trying to make one for one of my oc's and almost broke my brain in the process.
16:00
It spells out Bellona's Daughter.
Cool.
Cool intro
Also in MOA the prophecy says :
"Wisdom's daughter walks alone"
First everyone thought it means Annabeth should go through the quest alone.
But later Annabeth realised in the middle of her solo death quest that it actually means she does not have any special powers that help her except her wits. So she walks alone without any powers.
And also when u said Bellona's daughter the English sub said Bologna's daughter😂
Haha 😂😂
Yooo I’m early again! Man this was helpful. I was trying to remember them
Glad it was helpful :D
😁
My interpretation of ‘an oath to keep with a final breath’ is Jason’s promise to Kym that he would make sure all the gods got shrines at Camp Jupiter.
It could be that too I suppose
5:49, the “lose a love to worse than death” could also refer to Percy. When he got blown up and sent to ogygia and sailed back to CHB, Annabeth was lighting his funeral shroud and was crying. It could mean Luke or Percy.
You're right it could be either one, but I think it's more likely to be Luke based on the way that prophecy line was revealed at the end of BotL.
Glad you guys liked this video! Definitely didn't expect this many people to see it.
(EDITS: Apparently Daedalus didn't actually stab himself. Nico simply allowed his soul to pass on or something and that destroyed the labyrinth and the dude who put people to sleep during The Battle of Manhattan was Morpheus but apparently some people say it's Hypnos. Idk.)
Omg I haven’t found one of these in 4years
You are literally a god
Or goddess
It was morpheus not hypnos im reading that book know
@@angelnicolemclean4454 Agh crap
Technically Phoebe didn't get sick, the Stoll brothers gave her an Artemis t-shirt that was coated in centaur blood
Ah yes... but I think that did make her sick. Like she had hives or something. Idk it's been a while since I read that part.
Hmmmm... I wonder where they got the centaur blood. Did Chiron.....? Nah, too depressing
Yes, you are correct. But, in the Titan's Curse, near an closed Taco restaurant, Ares had came with a car I think. In the car, was Aphrodite, Goddess of love. Ares sent Percy Jackson in that car where Aphrodite was doing makeup(I think so). They both talk, and Aphrodite says that," I had understood the love for Annabeth you have, Percy. That is why _I_ was the one who poisoned Phoebe's T-Shirt". I don't think these are the exact words, but Aphrodite said something similar.
isnt centuars able to kill half bloods?
I actually just started making a audiobook series on Percy Jackson Lightning Thief
Good video 👍🏻
Good video man
It's a different way of reading it but definitely interesting
@@treym.milton5120 thanks
Ya it's just how I imagine it
So that's how I read it
Great idea! I’m a fan of these books and I’m blind. I consumed them through audiobook. It’d be interesting to have a different interpretation. If it’s possible, I’d love to listen to your series. Can I find it anywhere now, or is it not done yet?
Is anyone else depressed and rereading every Rick Riordan book after Tower of Nero?
Yes, despite having done a reread directly before the tower of Nero.
Not me
Recently finished TOA, time to browse AO3 for content
Yes my i read the whole series like 3 times im on my 4th time
@@fuzzystudiosofficial What’s AO3?

You're brilliant
Yeah probably
Makes sense
I was just wondering while reading the Trials of Apollo (I've finished it and reread it all) how long did it take for Rick to write all those haikus. I could NEVER do that many.
I WONDERED THE SAME THINGGGF
Ikr
we can all agree that apollo is rick himself
Facts
I think that he probably wrote the chapter first and then came up with a haiku for it based on what happened.
I made some fan fiction where Percy is an adult.
Percebeth has twins, Atticus and Jason and Hazel and Frank have a daughter named Rose,
the whole thing is set at the wedding of will and nico.
Cool
i want to see that
Link???
@@bookwyrm8181 Omgs I was wondering of that too! I just read that book for Engliss class.
I can literally repeat every single prophecy from Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus without any reference
I just love the Percy Jackson series
Same here. I also memorized the dark prophecy from trials of Apollo when I was supposed to be studying. I wish schoolwork was like these books. If that was the case, I would be perfectly fine with memorizing a fourteen line poem
This was really good! I never considered the oath to keep with a fonal breath that way.
i love just getting to kinda review all of the books with you
Wait, im not sure if someone already said this but
"you shall be betrayed by the one who calls you friend"
We all know that friend is Luke but does that mean Luke used to call Percy a friend?
Well he acted like a friend to him I don't know if he directly called him that.
That's a good point. We all know that before the end of the book, Percy thinks of Luke as a friend but we don't know if Luke thought of him that way too/called him that directly and the prophecy said "calls you a friend" not "you call a friend" so maybe Luke thought of Percy as a friend the whole time he spent with him despite him having to betray Percy
I am going to be honest, I absolutely love ur intro. It’s something I never skip.
Thanks!
“To storm or fire the world must fall”
I think that it refers to Leo or Percy, because if Percy didn’t let Leo, Jason and Piper be the ones to “kill” Gaia, then he would have caused the world to fall. As Poseidon is the god of storms, this also makes sense.
It could be
That is an interesting interpretation. It definitely has some merit to it. I love how Rick's prophecies can be interpreted from so many different angles.
Let’s take time to acknowledge how freaking amazing these prophecies and the rhymes are.
Yeah
Love your channel and also this gives a great refresher!👍
14:00 the Tiber filling beyond count is mentioned as happening before Apollo and Meg arrive at Camp Jupiter. A battle that resulted in many people from Camp Jupiter dying and (IIRC on this part) their bodies being dragged into the Little Tiber, where they disappeared. Since they couldn't count how many bodies were in the river, since they disappeared, it was "beyond count"
Right, they disappeared and turned into Tarquin's zombies I forgot about that... thanks for correcting me.
"Percy and the gang weren't supposed to come, they just kinda said f to rules and went on the quest anyways-"
wait a minute
*since when did rules matter in Riordanverse?*
*Percy has literally blown up and set schools on fire before*
Actually the same way Morpheus’s sleep on the mortals was not endless literally but was a magical sleep, Leo’s death was a “final breath” because death if often referred to as a final breath
Those could also be true, I was just bringing up the possibilities because we don't know for sure.
You know "To storm or fire the world must fall" can also be applied to Percy because his father is known as the "Stormbringer"
At first they thought it could be Percy or Jason but then they just kind of decided it was Jason.
Good point
"Lester needs to walk in the boots of Caligula,"
Little Booties
I'm sorry I just can't
LOL
“They kinda said F the rules and went anyway”
Percy did the same thing the year after-
Haha yep
I totally forgot about these, so thanks for the reminder.
Can we appreciate the scene where Nico takes his title as the Ghost King at like, age 11!?! I’m sorry what? Nico is literally the Ghost King and as I like to say, Prince of Darkness. Huge Respects to Nico.
Yeah he doesn't even know what he's doing but when Minos tries to ressurect himself Nico just goes "nuh-uh, you need to go" and complete destroys him.
12 i think
Wasn’t he 12 or nearly 12 if we’re not being specific if we were talking specific then probably like 82 or something
The next series I BET nico saves bob and damasen
From what I understand, there won't be another series exactly, just standalone novels (but yeah the first one will probably be about Will and Nico saving Bob and maybe Damasen).
I was gonna say that
Bro Percy, Nico, and Will going on a quest to save them. That would be dope
Please don’t get my hopes up.
well you got the bob bit correct
So glad I could find someone who talks about Percy Jackson!! Also it would have been funny if the prophecy from Mars was included. 😂
Lol
:At the 16:00 mark i'd like to think the prophecy is read more like this: "Bronze upon Gold Destroy the Tyrant , East meets West aid the Winged, Legions are redeemed under golden hills, Light the depths great stallions fold, Never spirit defeated harken the trumpets, Ancient words spoken enter strranger's home, Shaking old foundations regain lost glory." i dunno if makes it any different i'm still trying to get my hands on all the books but amazing video thank you for making it!
Question: why did I cry about the arrow of didona so much?
Same though.
I never thought I’d cry for the arrow but I did
Rick makes us cry over inanimate objects. That's an author.
I’m honestly asking myself the same question. Making us cry over inanimate objects is Rick’s last trick before closing the series,
Is that a spoiler?
I think the prophecy of the Big Three was given to Chiron directly
Seems possible, he does know it.
I love your channel and dedication to the franchise.
I hope we get a solo Nico and Will book.
Thanks (and so do I)
Same!
(Spoiler for Tower of Nero)
After all that setup at the end of ToN I'm super hoping for Solangelo POV in Tartarus, bc weirdly enough Tartarus has always been my favorite part of HoO and I'd love to return there with them
Petition to call “riordnaverse” as “percyversey” as it should, persassy’s ego isn’t big enough obviously😂
Lol
Thing is, kane chronicles and magnus chase series are all part of the same universe as well
Ela Y yes I know but Percy Jackson is the more popular series, not saying anything with this, just stating facts, I love all the series, but percyversey for our sassy boi, and also this was mostly supposed to be a joke!
@@citrusxlimon3826 sorry, didn’t mean for that to come out mean if it did. The other series are just underrated.
Another awesome video!
It isn't 254 BCE, it is 254 years since the founding of Rome.
Oh lol whoops. I don't know anything about history so I wouldn't know.
@@TheDemigodLover the only reason I know is because I tend to partially memorize every single Riordanverse book, and there was actually a couple of paragraphs in the Tyrant's Tomb as Lester, Meg, Levinia, and Hazel tried to determine why the password was 254.
Pretty sure the last line of the prophecy in TLH is referring specifically to Jason looking at Hera when she wears her true form, thus killing him, although he was brought back to life due to Thanatos being captured
Huh maybe. I never realized Jason might have actually briefly died and came back, I thought he just survived by some miracle.
hey, i just wanted to say that i found your channel a few weeks ago and i love you channel, like seriously and i just finished reading the percy jackson and the heroes of olympus series and i have to read the further ones (kane cronicles, magnus chase and ToA )

I know this is gonna seem out of place here, but I just had to say this one little bit. What makes a warrior is not the cause, it's the actions, courage, dedication. I've had the privilege of being a Civil War Reenactor, and have thus researched and represented both Federal and Rebel, (Union and Confederate) soldiers. It wasn't what they fought for that made them warriors. Men from both sides fought for different reasons. Men from the north either fought for the preservation of the Union, for the ending of slavery, or because they were drafted. The same holds true for the southerners, who fought to either defend slavery, defend their homes and families, or because they were drafted. But what made them all warriors was that they were *all* willing to die for whatever cause they fought for. They were ready to stand in line with their brothers in arms and die for what they stood for. That takes real courage, even if the cause is wrong or misguided. I've heard it called many things, but my favorite phrase for the era of men was the "Age of Wooden Rifles and Iron Men".
Ummm . . . okay? I still think it makes them terrible people but sure if that's your opinion.
@@TheDemigodLover Believe it or not, a lot of them were disillusioned by the Southern government. The South at this time was little more than an Autocracy. Even the average white man didn't know how to read, let alone know the intricacies of economics. So when he was told that he was protecting his home against the evil federals who were going to come and rape his wife, ransack his property, and kill his children, he believed it. Instead, a lot of them found out the hard way that it wasn't about that, it was about persevering the rich white man's money, but by then it was too late.
@@theamerican_1945 Fair enough.
@Balance of The hill I never said a thing about Hercules and I don't see how that's related...? It's fair enough to say many confederates thought what they were fighting was right and probably weren't terrible people. But... what are you talking about? Hercules isn't even from the Norse myths.
Anyone wanna tell me all the prophecies?I wanna remember them
Seven half bloods will answer the call
To storm or fire the world must fall
An oath to keep with a final breath
And foes bear arms to the doors of death
*that’s the only one I remember cause I just finished Blood of Olympus a few days ago*
The words that memory wrought are set to fire,
Ere new moon rises over the devil’s mount.
The changeling lord must face a challenge dire,
Till bodies fill the Tiber beyond count.
Yet southward must the sun now trace its path,
From mazes to lands of scorching death.
To find the master of the swift white horse,
And wrest him from the crossword speaker’s breath.
To westward palace must the Lester go,
Demeter’s daughter finds her ancient roots.
The cloven guide alone the way does know,
To walk in thine own enemy’s boots.
When three are known and Tiber reached alive,
‘Tis strength Apollo starts to jive.
P.s this is ToA
I realized..but I haven’t read it
That intro takes me back
A while ago I made shrinkie dinks whith all the prophesies on them, only pjo and hoo though.
In the battle of the labrynth i realized that the line”and lose a love to worse than death.”could be about annabeth thinking that she would lose percy’s heart to Rachel or when she lost on calypso’s island
I think that's what she thought it meant. That was why she was so angry when he came back to camp after she thought he was dead.
15:48 is one of those puzzle type things where you take the first letter from each line, in this case spelling out “BELLONA’S DAUGHTER” a.k.a Reyna Ramirez-Arellano
Its an acrostic puzzle, where the lines spell out a word(s)
The god dissolves leaving not a mark
Could this be Nero?
P.s this sibyl never again to see his sign could be the arrow of Dodona
Maybe...
the kane chronicles might be getting a film on netflix
Not "might," I'm pretty sure it's confirmed :)
@@TheDemigodLover I read something about it on a website
It’s confirmed, Rick has mentioned it several time himself. While he’s not helping write the script like he is with the PJO tv series, he says the script writers are good so we’ll see.
Hello everyone
11:15 "Valhalla cannot contain" also because, usually, only mortals or Aegir-spawn demigods who died with glorious death can enter Valhalla. Vanir-spawn demigods who dies goes to Vanaheim. Magnus, a son of Frey, a Vanir (nature god) should have went to Vanaheim.
Oh cool
*Aesir. Aegir is that one sea god.
You are the best!
Jason: *Survives Hera showing her true form which should have incinerated him*
Also Jason: *Dies by a spear*
Me: A- Am I the only one that noticed this?
I guess you're right...
I think Jason actually died, but before Thanatos was freed
This is so good
I interpreted the first Great Prophecy as Luke being “a half blood of the eldest gods”. The Last Olympian focuses the fact that the minor gods didn’t have thrones or cabins, and pretty much only just acknowledges that minor gods are real gods. I thought that since they acknowledged that minor gods existed in this book, that now makes all the Olympians “the eldest gods”, because in comparison to the minor gods, they are all “elder gods”. I know Luke is twenty-three in Last Olympian, but he technically did “reach sixteen against all odds.”
I guess it could be him too...
For some reason when I hear the line "A wildcat near the spinning lights" I thing of a cat hanging off a ceiling fan.
BAHAHAHAHAHA 😂😂😂
Same 😭
You:"The lost one is pan who has been missing for thousands of years"
Me:" you mean *2* thousand.
Also, i love the way rick riordan planned out the whole story through the series.
Ik it’s been a year but two is plural, thus it makes sense for her to say thousands
17:40 That... I completely forgot
I wrote a prophecy for a fan series this is it: You shall go West,
To free the one who was blest
Face one who seeks revenge,
Daughter of Death ought to avenge,
A child of the Sea’s mind shall shatter,
And four will triumph or fail to save all that matters.
Wow, that's really good! I'm intrigued by whatever fan series you're talking about...
@@TheDemigodLover it’s something that I’m writing a script for. It will be up in the next year and a half to two years because of filming next summer plans.
@@april_eclipse_studios Cool
Hello there, thanks for this amazing video, you really helped me understand the prophecies better!
Also, doesn't "The words that memory wrought are set to fire" mean that Ella is tattooing the Sybilline books on Tyson, using a hot needle?
I don't remember if that was touched on in The Tyrant's Tomb but it is quite possible.
Finally I'm early
I literally don't know which order to read the books and finish the series. I read Percy jackson and the Olympians, I read the Heroes of Olympus, and after that, I read the Kane chronicles. I just found out about trials of Appolo existing 3 years later, and I just now also found out about the Magnus chase, as well as so many crossover books and diaries. IDK What to do :0
You could read Trials of Apollo or Magnus chase first, no major spoilers so it doesn't really matter they were released at around the same time.
@@TheDemigodLover really? There are a punch of list about how you should intermingle and read 1, then a different one, then a crossover, and repeat or something like that. First time readers like me(because I never read m chase or trial if appolo yet,) shouldn't read the crossover books?
@@ousmanfitness8132 You should (there's no reason not to), I honestly don't know the exact order you're supposed to these books in, it's pretty confusing.
I agree with that whole comment about the prophecies how at the beginning they were just perfect but now they just are out they used to be
They were so much cooler in the original PJO books.
I just realized that this came out on my birthday
Lol
10:09 it referres to him as an angel because he is 😂
That too
Personal Head-cannon:
By “to storm or fire the world must fall”, the prophecy didn’t mean Jason or Leo killing Gaea, but rather the Greeks or the Romans prevailing.
Here’s why:
When they meet the south wind, it is shown that his Greek side is fiery, whilst the Roman side is stormy.
Under Octavian’s rule, the Romans are pitted against the Greeks, with the Greeks wanting to work things out and solve issues diplomatically, whiles the Romans just want to kill all the Greeks.
The Greeks end up “winning” and solve the conflict between the two with the help of Reyna, Jason, Hazel, and Frank.
Basically, fire symbolizes the Greeks and Storm symbolizes the Romans, and they either need to make amends or kill each other. The Greeks “win” and therefore the world falls to them, leaving it in their hands to fix the relationship between the two camps.
Hmm, that's interesting. I never thought of it that way before.
5:26 the labyrinth is connected to his life force, but that is not the reason he got so old. He survived by transferring his soul into a robotic body.
so, stabbing him would probably not work
Yeah, I realized that. Apparently he actually just told Nico to allow his soul to pass on to the Underworld or something.
8:02 I'm 3 years late, but this could also be Jason's promise to that sea goddess in blood of olympus, when he promised to make shrines for all the gods
True...
Amazhang video!
Thanks
this is great
13:46 I thought those lines were about how the words of the Sibylline Books were literally “burned” into Tyson’s back? (and other body parts)
That's also possible
Just to let you know “storm or fire the world must fall” it’s Jason who can control storms or Leo who can control fire and Percy he can control hurricanes
Yeah at first there was some debate about whether the storm was Percy or Jason but it ended up being Jason.
"If I thought this war was to end slavery, I would resign my commission and offer my sword to the other side"
- Ulysses S Grant
Oh... I'll admit that I'm not very well-versed in US history (I don't even live in the US) but I think it's very clear that the south was fighting to preserve slavery.
california is still burning tho, I thought medea dying would lessen/stop it
Yay
Dam I really wish the old prophecies continued, they were so much better
Yeah...
I was always of the opinion that the unleashing of Death referred to Thanatos being freed in The Son of Neptune.
Hmm... in that case who would the angel and the twins refer to?
@@TheDemigodLover different prophecy :)
@@keskonriks710 Oh THAT prophecy 😂
8:09 With the Foes bear arms line, it doesn't say they work together, which was pointed out by Reyna. Therefore, that line includes Tartarus, Damasen, Greeks, Romans, Giants, and Titains (Other than monsters) I might be forgetting some entities. Also, Tartarus literally consumes one or two Titans for talking smack about giants, so another way they are foes.
14:06 Only like 30-50 people die, which for New Rome is small. Also, the reason they are uncountable is because the ghouls literally steal them or they sink into the sewers below, I don't really remember how Frank explained it other than it wasn't a camp full of people but more like about half a century (Roman military term)
As I remember it, they mention multiple times that casualties were heavy, though I don't remember a number being mentioned. But thanks for the cool tidbit about "beyond count," I don't remember that XD
